I have had dogs in my life since birth and at various times cats, fish, birds and rodents (not all at once!). I owned my own pet sitting business in Australia for seven years and have been pet sitting and dog walking in Los Angeles since the beginning of 2016. I am a Reiki Master/Teacher and Animal Reiki Practitioner as well has having recently taken an intensive course in psychic animal communication (still practising these skills). In addition to the animals previously mentioned, I have cared for horses and chickens. I have looked after dogs ranging from chihuahuas to newfies, dogues and greyhounds. I find almost all animals to be honest and lovable and meet them with an open heart. With dogs, I prefer that they have good manners but, if not, I can help them learn some with gentle encouragement, consistency and persistence. I truly love my furry nieces and nephews.

Dog Walking & Pet Sitting Experience:
I have been taking care of animals for approximately 20 years, including my own as well as client’s pets. I have volunteered at many different animal organizations and rescues, where I gained experience working with animals of all sizes, temperaments and ages. At the age of 17, I had the opportunity to be an intern at my local veterinary office for 2 years. During this time, I got the opportunity to experience working closely with pets that suffered from a variety of medical conditions as well as administering medication.

Pet Safety Precautions:
Pet safety is extremely important to me and I do everything I can to provide a safe and secure environment for your pet. Pet gates are always up guarding the trashcan, the cat’s litter box, and the front door.
I love spending time outdoors!! Your pups will be taken on multiple walks a day, have access to a secure fenced outdoor area to play and run, and participate in all the activities that they enjoy daily at home. Upon request, I am able to take your pup to 2 different dog parks near the area.

Description of apartment:
Your pup will feel right at home in my pet friendly cozy one bedroom apartment in Sherman Oaks, located just south of Ventura Blvd. Being located in the heart of the neighborhood, your dog will have a variety of walking options throughout the day. In the center of the apartment complex, is a beautiful spacious enclosed outdoor area with plenty of grass and space for playing or running.

About my cat:
I have a 3-year-old tabby cat named Zeke at home. He is great with dogs and loves watching them play! Zeke is extremely friendly with other dogs as well as cats. He is a little bit lazy, so he typically sleeps and lounges around the entire day.

My name is Ryan and am certainly an "animal person". I've had friends ask me why I don't work with animals, specifically. I used to volunteer at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (a living museum) in Tucson, AZ with the Interpretive Animal Collection. These are the animals that would go out on the grounds with the docents and I was placed there because I had a pet snake and was fine working with reptiles along with raptors, mammals, and arachnids.

I met a sweet puppy while interning with the USDA, named him James, and he was adopted by a friend. That was 10 years ago and they're still together. I've fostered animals for the Humane Society, had a snake for 12 years (Oreo) and currently have a fluffy cat named Shannon that is about 14 and has been with me nearly his entire life.

Animals are amazing. Brave. Giving. Inspiring. And seeing dogs trot along while walking with their human(s) always makes me smile.
