Hi! My name is Sara and I love dogs.
My fiancé Joe and I live in a house in Glendale and have plenty of indoor and outdoor space to play. We have a small mixed rescue named Sadie who is the queen of our castle. Sadie loves to have pals over so she can share her private backyard and treats with them.
Dog handling is in my blood. My grandmother was a breeder and trainer for Guide Dogs of America. Because of her, I have experience with pregnant mothers and newborns. My knack for leash training came from her as well. I also manage a daycare facility in downtown Brooklyn where my staff and I feed, groom, and administer medication to our pack.
Growing up, my parents had a dalmatian, lab/setter mix, and lab/pit mix. I raised these dogs with my father and learned to care for animals at a very young age
My father was a professional dog trainer in Southern California and worked specifically with rescues from kill shelters and aggressive dogs. He taught me everything he knew about training them. Though my first encounters with dogs had solely been bigger breeds, I found a warm spot in my heart for all of the smaller dogs I met when I moved to the City.
Joe likes every dog he meets and has always had dogs growing up. Our schedules line up in such a way that your pup will never be home alone for more than an hour, and even then, they got Sadie :)
Our house is perfect for your pet because it is on a quiet street in a quiet neighborhood with its own private backyard. We don't have many rules other than play nicely and have fun. Everyone is allowed on the couches and beds because its vacation. During the week, we stay home and cook and watch old movies. Over the weekend, we try to go to the farmer's market or the dog park. Sometimes we like to take the dogs to brunch with us if the weather is nice :) Dinnertime and movie cuddles obviously end the lovely day.
We do have about five steps leading up to the house and five steps to the backyard. If your dog is older or has joint issues, this may be worth a consideration. Joe and I are both experienced and capable to carry or help dogs up and down stairs, but it may not be the best fit for you if that would stress the pup out.
I do require a meet and greet before your stay because Sadie must give her final approval. I am available after 8pm on weeknights and have more flexibility scheduling on the weekends. I apologize in advance for any inconveniences this may cause, but introducing dogs in a neutral territory puts me at ease for the stay and it should for you too!
