Hello. I've been around animals all of my life. I was born in Pittsburgh, but moved to a farm in Butler County when I was 4 years old. At the farm we had a variety of animals. We had both "inside" and "outside" cats and dogs. I was the little girl with a pony. I’ve been around all types of farm animals. I bottle-fed a piglet which was rejected by its mother. It was adorable. I was shocked when my parents told me that the pig was big enough to go back in the barn. What??? Wasn't this my pet? I've had cats all of my life. My first cat as an adult was with me for 19 years. Two pets were "emotional" life savers for my children after their father passed away. The companionship of these special animals can never be underrated. My daughter and I had a pet love bird. It was one of the sweetest pets we ever had. It was hand fed and could actually go outside and fly and return to us when we called. We also bred love birds and hand fed them. This entire process was an amazing learning experience for my family.
I'm trustworthy and reliable. Walking a dog will be good for both me and your dog. All of my children, now married adults, have benefited from their experiences with pets at our home. They all have pets; both cats and dogs, AND fish, and (sometimes) guinea pigs. One of my married daughters has fostered cats and kittens. This was a learning experience for all of us, including my young grandchildren, as we watched the kittens from infancy, loved them, socialized them, slept with them, and (tearfully) returned them to the shelter for placement.
I live in a condo. If I know that a pet can be trusted to run freely through my home, then that's what I will allow. I have some leather furniture. I'd prefer that animals not go on this furniture, as their nails may cause holes or rips. Sleeping on my bed will be determined on an ad hoc basis.
Any "repeat" animal care will be based on the basis of the behavior of the animal. Any animal that is destructive or aggressive toward me or neighbors will not be accepted for a second visit.
I would prefer that pet owners bring items with their pet that the pet finds comforting and familiar. For example, crates, blankets, toys, pet beds, etc. I want your pet to feel at ease in my home. Just like a child, these special members of our family like to have their own personal security blankets!
The dogs that we've had as pets had freedom to go anywhere in my home and in our yard. However, they were crate trained, and seemed to enjoy having their "own" space. One dog used her crate as a place to stash her bones and toys. These same animals also slept with people in the family. One dog, named Heidi, would immediately go to her crate when we said, "Go to your house."
Our animals, including our cats have traveled with us, and have lived in other (family) homes while we visited one another. They were socialized to such a degree in regard to traveling that we only needed to open the car door for them to enter the car and travel with us. Sometimes the mention of a name (I know this sounds crazy) would cause the dog to actually go to the car thinking that we were about to travel!
I hope to be able to sit your pet
