About Terry

I'm a dog fanatic living in Fort Greene, right by the park, and would love the chance to meet your furry friend. I work from home, so there won't be a moment in the day when your pal is lonely or bored. If your dog needs lots of exercise, perfect! So do I! We'll go out for jaunts around the neighborhood and park at least three times a day and I have plenty of toys, comfy dog beds, and treats at home when your buddy is ready to chill out. I am insured, certified in Pet First Aid from the Red Cross, and I'm experienced in caring for dogs of all sizes and personalities. I like to keep the lines of communication wide open and will make myself available to you by phone and email 24 hours a day. I also love taking pictures and videos and will update your inbox daily with all the fun and funny things your dog has been doing. I'd love the chance to meet with you and your dog and explain my background and qualifications in further detail. I hope we get the chance to work together real soon!

Terry is so great! He always takes very good care of our little Brussels Griffon!
Terry was an amazing host! From the first moment he met my dog Bo (the mini husky in his photos) they got along great, and I could tell he knew how to handle dogs and had a tremendous amount of love for them. He sent pics of their adventures almost daily and when I got him back he was as happy a dog as ever.

Not only that but Terry came to pick to him up and drop him off, making my vacation that much less stressed. Highly recommended dog sitter.

Terry was an excellent host. Made me feel immediately comfortable with leaving my fur baby with a stranger.
Terry was just fabulous with my energetic pittie Olive. The great pictures he sent of her romping and panting at the park melted my heart and also put my mind at ease, knowing she was getting plenty of exercise. Olive and I are both looking forward to calling on Terry again for boarding!

Terry was so great for our dog Bowser. Bowser is pretty high strung and has a lot of energy. Terry would send us pictures of Bowser at the park with a stick in his mouth. I could rest assured that Bowser was in good hands and getting plenty of exercise. And, when we got home, I think he was a little sad to see us and not Terry. We highly recommend Terry and we are looking forward to having him watch Bowser again.

Terry was a fantastic host for Wilma and we were very relaxed knowing she was in good hands and company with Cooper. The photos he took and shared during Wilma's vacay are precious. Wilma's looking forward to her next stay with Terry B!
We were a little shy about giving our 7-month-old baby over to person we'd just met, but truth be told: Terry's the best! He and his sweet Maltese, Cooper, truly gave our pup Newton a weekend "vacay" to remember—from stick chasing at the park to jaunts at the Brooklyn flea meeting lots of adoring fans. Even though the first thing Newton did upon arrival was "sign in" at the guestbook, a.k.a. pee in Cooper's bed (sigh...) Terry was unfazed and calmly handled it like a pro. Newton and Cooper then proceeded to chase each other around the coffee table like they'd known each other since birth. Every day thereafter, we got photo updates which were a joy to receive, as his photos are 10x better than any I've ever taken. When we went to pick him up on Sunday night, Newton almost seemed reluctant to go home. Terry truly loves dogs, and you can tell from all the care and attention he'll give your pooch while you're away. We'll definitely be bringing Newton back to hang out with him next time we're out of town!

The idea of leaving our dog baby behind in Brooklyn for only the second time in her life and for the first time with DogVacay made us as nervous as dog parents could be. We usually rent cars and drive our dog Sheba 7 hours to Pittsburgh to stay with family if we want to go anywhere. Sheba is an 8-year old Lab Mix (rescue) with a lot of anxiety and leash aggression issues. Under normal circumstances, she can be a challenge. But in December 2012, she had to have surgery for bladder stones, and now has to eat a special diet and go out to pee every 5 to 6 hours. It seemed like a lot to ask a person who didn't already love her to deal with, but by amazing fortune we found Terry. Terry reassured us right away. Not only does he have experience dealing with dogs with quirky personalities, but he also has personal experience having owned a dog with special health needs like ours. We scheduled a meet and greet. We were a little apprehensive at first because our dog Sheba and his and his girlfriend's sweet little dog Cooper didn't fall in love at first sight. But Terry promised that he would be there with them 24/7 and would be aware of everything that happened. He even met us in the park before the vacay so our dogs could walk together.

Then, one week before we were going to leave, Sheba started having accidents in her sleep. We took her to the vet and they started her on a supplement, but we didn't know if it would help in time for her stay with Terry. We let him know what was happening and gave him the chance to back out, but Terry is a true dog lover with a lot of compassion and said it would be fine. We dropped her off in his lobby and she wagged her tail at him and walked into the elevator without looking back. This is seriously the first time that she hasn't had to be dragged away from her papa.

The next day, the photos and updates started coming. Sheba looked like she was having fun and the emails described her days in a way that we could visualize like a storybook. To our relief, she was behaving too. Except, she wasn't eating her food/supplement. But Terry made her homemade chicken broth (no onions!) to mix in her food, and she ate happily. I can't imagine that anyone could have taken better care of Sheba even if it had been us.

Terry and his wife came accross as very friendly ,warm individuals with a genuine affection for animals. After meeting with them for a short while I had no reservations about leaving my dog in their care and the pictures and updates that were sent to me just reinforced this feeling. Although he hasn't said so specifically I have the feeling that my dog felt right at home.
