15 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Hi there !

We are a very warm family who love dogs dearly. We have two kids of 7 and 9 who are great with dogs and know how to pet them, having been around dogs since their birth. Our place is very neat and we live in a wonderful neighborhood in Chapel Hill which is awesome for dogs. Lots of walking trails, lakes and a dog park.
I (mommy) would like to make pocket money with my passion of spending time with dogs. Our house is perfectly available. And they would never be locked in the cage unless the owner asks for it ! Few things to emphasize : 1. I would not like to leave dogs alone, which means we would be together almost all day -may be a few errands out. I like to drive with them if they would like to join me. 2. We play fetch and water games with dogs which is a lot of fun for all of us. 3. I do NOT prefer to change the habits of your dogs which means they are gladly welcome to sleep with us if they do so at home or I would put them in their kennel if that is what they are used to with you. 4. They are allowed on our furniture since I arranged everything accordingly, but if you don't let them dance on the coaches, then I wouldn't let them do either. 5. Please kindly keep in mind, I can not get any aggressive dog since we have kids and might have other doggy friends. 6. Would ask for updated shots and NO ticks and fleas at all please. I can do pick up and drop offs for additional $10 and in some cases for free, we need to discuss pre boarding. I would try my best for flexibility for drop off and pick ups.
Your dog would truly be the member of our family and would have his own vacation while you are having yours.

Kimbo loved his stay! Very dog friendly comfortable house with loving kids to play with... We will definitely be coming back.
Begum was a good host for our dog while we were away. She sent us lots of pictures and messages, especially the first few days we were out of town, that made us feel like our pup was getting good care. It is clear the she and her family really love dogs and enjoy having guests in their home. Begum seemed very responsible and took the care of our dog seriously.

The only reason I give her four stars and not five is that our dog came home with cuts on the bottom of his paws that our vet told us will take weeks to months to heal. I think this is probably just because he isn't used to living with so many other dogs and played much more than usual while he was with Begum. I seriously doubt that this represents any sort of negligence by the host, but I will take this into consideration the next time I am booking boarding for my dog.

I think boarding Winston with Begum is one of the best experiences I've had when having to leave my little guy behind while traveling. I got updates regularly (and Begum reached out to me to confirm I was getting them when she didn't receive any response, which is great because I definitely did not realize my phone wasn't receiving messages after my flight!) and quite a few cute pictures. My boy came home happy and energetic and I can tell he was in good hands. I will definitely use Begum again, she's worth the drive from Raleigh!

We couldn't be happier with Begum. Minnie was so excited to come back in her house after the initial meet and greet, and didn't seem like she wanted to leave after having such a great time. Begum is clearly very loving and caring to her guests, and Minnie felt like part of her family. We received frequent updates and pictures which provided additional peace of mind.

We couldn't recommend her highly enough.

I would not board my dog Sadie here again. She came home completely dehydrated. When we got into our apartment, she ran straight for her water bowl, finished all the water in there and then ran off to the toilet. I had to pull her away from the toilet while I refilled her bowl. She had 3 bowls of water before she calmed down. I don't know why she was so dehydrated, since Sadie does not have any issues with dehydration normally and because it was during the winter, but I was very concerned about this.

I also did not receive any updates about Sadie from the family without first having to ask. I traveled to Africa, and it was just over 72 hours from when I dropped Sadie off to when I could receive text messages on my phone again. I was certain there would be an update about Sadie waiting for me, but there was not, and I only received one after I texted to check Sadie was still okay. I got one more update in my week trip, again when I inquired as to how Sadie was doing.

There was one particularly weird thing that made me concerned, although I cannot give the family's side of the story, because they refused to talk to me about it. Sadie wears a harness because she can easily slip out of her collar on walks. To be on correctly, the harness has to face a certain direction, but it's not a big deal if it is on backwards, since she can still wear it, only it is less comfortable for her. When I dropped Sadie off, she had her harness on the correct direction, which I know not only because I put it on everyday, but also because I took a picture of her in the car outside the house, and it is on correctly in that image. The sitter agreed not to take the harness off, because she was not able to put it back on easily, although I said it could come off at home.

The first photo I received of Sadie at the family's house showed her harness on the correct way, while the second showed it on backwards. I assumed the sitter took it off at night and just put it on backwards, no big deal. As such, I sent a reply text thanking her for the update and letting her know that the harness was on backwards but that it was not too big of a deal. Later photos showed the harness still on backwards, and I was not bothered by it at all.

When I went to pick Sadie up, the first thing the sitter said was, completely out of the blue, "I never took her harness off." I looked confused and she said, "you asked in your text if I took it off. I never took it off. It has been like that since you left her." What was strange was that she brought this up without me mentioning it a second time and made it a big point to deny ever taking it off, when there was no reason to be defensive at all.

Now, I like to think I have the smartest dog in the world, but she is not able to take her harness off and then put it back on backwards. She is, however, able to get out of her harness, if and only if she is pulling extremely hard backwards as someone is pulling the leash extremely hard forward. She's stubborn, and in these cases, she'll get out of the harness, but you really have to be pulling her aggressively for this to happen (I've had this happen when I'm trying to drag her out of the road when a car is coming).

I don't know what happened with the harness, but I know it came off and then was put back on the wrong way. There are dozens of very good reasons why her harness would have come off, and none of them would have made me question her stay. However, when the sitter said she did not take off or put back on Sadie's harness, that tells me that she either blatantly lied about it (for what reason I do not know) or it happened when Sadie was not under her supervision, which was not supposed to occur. And the only reason I can think of for her getting so preemptively defensive about it is because the harness came off when something happened that she didn't want to tell me about why or how it happened, and this makes me extremely distrustful.

Bigam cares about my dogs and is attentive to what they need to be safe and happy
Begun was terrific. She & Bucky became best of friends. We will definitely use her when next in Chapel Hill.
Begum was absolutely fantastic with Luna! I would definitely recommend her for other pet parents!
Awesome! Our puppy loves staying with Begum and her family. Begum is fantastic and was great with arranging pickup/drop off time, super helpful, had everything organized, and took great care of our little puppy while we were away. This was our second visit with Begum and we definitely will be coming back again next time :)

I knew from the first moment the dogs and I met Begum she would be a fantastic match for our family. Her greeting was perfect: she immediately bent down and loved on both of the dogs. This demonstration of love for dogs was what convinced me that she would love and care for my dogs as I do. Her ability to instantly connect with the pups, take care of their homemade diet and her flexibility with such a positive attitude, makes me so happy to find a great match for our family!

Joplin and Gino seemed very happy when we picked them up! Would definitely book here again.
Begum is wonderful! She is not only very responsive to any message I sent, but it's very obvious how much she cares for my dog as if it were her own. We are definitely going to leave our pup with her again. Thanks, Begum!!
Begum was lovely to our dogs including the one who was very anxious. She graciously accommodated our minor schedule changes and kept us update and reassured while we were away.
Begum was a great host. She shared cute pictures of Miles and was conscientous about keeping his normal routine.
Great! Begum was absolutely wonderful, such a lovely woman, and she took such great care of our little puppy. We were a bit stuck with finding a place for the weekend we were out of town, but Begum was able to help us and really went out of her way to make sure everything was good. Highly recommended, and next time we go out of town we will be calling Begum first :)

We just moved to the area and just needed an overnight visit. Willow is pretty anxious 24/7 no matter where she is so she can be a bit high maintenance. I received a few pictures and she looked right at home with her temporary family. I will definitely book again when we need to travel where Will is not welcome.

Great experience.
Our dog seemed to feel right at home at Begum's! She was nice to send pictures and updates throughout the stay, and took great care in making sure our dog was happy and that everything was as close to our dog's normal routine as possible.
I dropped off two somewhat anxious dogs and picked up two happy, well-cared-for dogs. Our girls can be a bit of a handful sometimes. Begum sent us an update with pictures, letting us know they were doing great. I really appreciate her help, and on short notice at that.

This was my first time using Dog Vacay, I was so lucky to get Begum, she treated my 2 dogs like her own. They were great when we got home to pick them up.
Our dog stayed with her for a week and seemed to have enjoyed himself while in Begum's care. We would have rated 4 stars but there was a lack of communication on how our pet was doing. We never got any photos of him at all and only got updates when we initiated contact which is not what we were told would happen. Also, when my parents went to pick up our dog, Begum was not sure which items were his and almost gave them the wrong crate. Unfortunately we did get the wrong dog toy back so we had to replace it.

Begum was so great with our little boy Sammie!! This was our first trip away from him and Begum was so reassuring and put us at ease. Sammie had lots of fun and was definitely pooped when we came to pick him up - you've got the best woman the world taking care of your furry friend if you pick Begum! :) -Dana

My puppy absolutely loves staying here! I could tell he felt very comfortable in her home and she did everything she could to make him feel welcome. She works very hard to replicate the routine and conditions your dog is used to at home and sends frequent updates while you're away.

Begum was wonderful! She responded quickly, was available for a meet and greet, and then she kept Coop for 5 days while we went to the beach. She sent pictures and a video of our happy pup. When we picked him up he was worn out from walks and playing with another sweet dog. He was very happy and we will definitely have Begum watch him again for us soon!

Begum was great! Her kids were very sweet and enjoyed playing with Sully. She was very flexible when it came to pick up and drop off and made it very easy on us. We will definitely use her again!
Have used Begum twice so far, and will definitely leave my dog with her family again. She loves staying there.
Begum was a wonderful host for our pup Bodie, for a three-day stretch when we were away for an out-of-town wedding. She was welcoming & enthusiastic from our first meet&greet session through the end of Bodie's stay with her family. She welcomed his playful energy and took him for walks and rides in the car. Bodie was in a good mood and quite affectionate with Begum when we rejoined him. Excellent upbeat communication throughout. We will happily board Bodie with Begum again!
