Your pup will have access to the entire house, including my couches, my bed (I even have stairs to the bed for the teeny ones!), a fully fenced yard, a nearby park and as many pictures as you want!
I'm also a veterinary technician, and very comfortable giving medication, SQ fluids or insulin injections if your dog has any special medical needs. (I also have instant access to the best veterinarians in the world due to my work!)
Speaking of work - I do work full time. However, if I have doggy guests, I do what I call a "drive by" around lunch time for a potty break if I have any dog guests - then back to work! Weekends, I'm pretty much always around.
You provide the dog (and the food - no reason to change your pup's diet while you're gone)...bring as much or as little of his or her stuff as you'd like, but I have plenty of toys, treats and beds that your baby will have a great time! I do also offer bribes, so if your pup has dietary issues or restrictions, please let me know in advance.
Your dog gets to sleep anywhere they want - I've had them sleep on my bed, under the bed, next to the bed, in their own bed, in one of the cats' beds, on the couch, on the doormat....you get the idea. I'm okay with pretty much anywhere.
(Apologies for the upcoming bad pun...I had to!) I have been a dog lover "furever"! I have been fostering adult dogs and puppies for the past eight years, and work as a veterinary technician.
I have a thing for senior doggies. They get spoiled badly here. :)
I have three cats that aren't bothered by dogs. They do get freaked out by large dogs though, so as much as I love them, I can't host. If you do have a larger girl or guy who is already confirmed cat friendly dog...let's talk.
Your dog hasn't ever met a cat? No worries - we'll set up a meeting beforehand. My cat Scruffy is always up for meeting new people and their pups. And 99% of the dogs who have never met a cat are fine!
My backyard is large for Chicago standards, fully fenced, mostly grass with some stumps/rocks/concrete. Your dog will be supervised at all times while outside. I have had several experienced escape artists attempt to find any holes in my fence - and I'm glad to say there are none!
I'm very comfortable with giving pills and SQ injections or fluids. For diabetic dogs on a strictly timed injection protocol, let's talk first and make sure it's a right fit.
You'd rather not have your dog around other dogs? That's fine too - please let me know in advance so I can block out that time for you, I don't have a problem doing that. I only will take multiple dogs with both owners' permission.
