We're recent law school graduate in our early thirties who LOVE animals. If you’re heading out of town and looking for a responsible pet sitter, send us a message!
We are currently working from home. That means your dog won’t be left alone longer than maybe an hour or two while we run errands or hit the gym.
The resident dog, Teddy, is a 30-lb mutt who loves all dogs and does a great job adjusting his play level/type to meet the needs of other dogs. Seriously. He is stubbornly optimistic that any and all dogs will eventually be his friend.
We're big believers in updating owners with lots of pictures while they’re away. That way you know everything is going well and you can truly enjoy your trip!
----- Dog Sitting in Our Home -----
Dogs will have supervised play time in our HUGE, fully-fenced yard numerous times throughout the day. Plus, they’ll get lots of belly rubs and treats (if allowed, of course). The house is fully stocked with dog toys, dog beds, and dog blankets. There really is something here for every type of dog!
We're also completely comfortable administering medicine, should your dog need that. Just make sure to provide clear instructions. There’s plenty of room for a crate if your dog prefers to sleep in one, or there is space on the bed!
** What To Bring **
All we really need is your dog’s leash, food, and any medication. Please make sure that the food and medicine are somehow labeled with your dog’s name. There are plenty of treats, toys, and dog beds here, but feel free to provide your own if you want to. Please do not pack dog bowls—we have plenty! We should also note that one of Teddy’s superpowers is that he can immediately detect when a new toy enters the house and it instantly becomes his favorite. So please don’t pack any sentimental toys, as they may not be returned in the same shape.
** Puppies **
We do accept puppies, but there is an extra fee (see our rates). Puppies will get plenty of exercise and frequent trips outside to the yard for potty breaks. Teddy LOVES playing with puppies.
** Dogs We Can’t Watch **
While we absolutely love pit bulls, we sadly are not allowed to watch them where we live.
** Pickup/Dropoff **
We do offer pickup and dropoff. For stays of three nights or longer, we can provide these services for free. For shorter stays, there is an added charge of $15 each for pickup and/or dropoff.
** Why We Love Dog Sitting **
Simply put, dogs are a big part of what makes life great. I'm a firm believer that most of the world's problems could at least be partially solved by dogs. Want to get Congress to work together? Build a dog park in the Rotunda. It's hard to be mad at someone when your dog is happily playing with theirs. But I digress. Dogs are amazing. I love them.
Dogs have been taking care of me for a majority of the last 30 years, so I enjoy returning the favor. When I was 4 years old, this meant tasting my dog Barney’s food before he ate it so I could make sure it was safe for him to consume. Now that I’m a grownup, it means pampering Teddy and other fur babies while their owners are away. I fancy myself a Level 10 Dog Poop Picker Upper (I’m happy to demonstrate my technique upon request) and a Level 7 Dog Player Wither (an old rowing injury keeps me from rolling around on the floor with the dogs for more than 20 minutes at a time). At times, I find myself lamenting the fact that the world is run by us humans and not by dogs.
