About Holly

6 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Ground level, cozy condo in NE DC with a back deck and small yard welcomes most breeds, most sizes, and all ages. Dogs are allowed full access to all parts of the home and are even allowed on the furniture (if you permit it). The neighborhood is filled with children so I prefer dogs that are friendly and unafraid of children. There are lots of toys and bones readily available in the house, but feel free to bring your pet's favorite. I also accommodate beds and crates if your dog prefers.

Dogs will enjoy at least two walks per day in the morning and evening and as much time in the yard as they want weather permitting. I work at home full-time so can also provide mid-day walks and daytime boarding. They will receive constant human company, gobs of affection, and much playtime. Days could also include trips to the dog park, Kingman Island, Battery Kemble Park, or the National Arboretum, some of my dogs' favorite spots.

I have been a foster for Homeward Trails Animal Rescue for the last 6 years. I have fostered and adopted out dozens of dogs and participated in the rescue and rehoming of several others. I have also been petsitting for friends and family for as long.

This home houses one nurturing and loving human pack leader, a 100-lb slobbery dog, a small playful Yorkie, and a blind and very tolerant CAT.

The oldest and largest dog Ernie is a big lover of all humans, but can be choosy with the dogs he loves. Though I have never had any issues with him and any of my fosters, I do know that he can feel threatened by dogs that are larger than him as well as unaltered male dogs.

The Yorkie is a recent acquisition. I had every intent to adopt him out, but that endeavor failed when he captured my heart with his goofiness. He's 2 years old and loves to play. To date, he's never met a dog he doesn't like.

Because this is Ernie's home and I want to be sure that everyone is comfortable with a Vacay, for most clients I require a 20 minute meet and greet at least a week prior to the stay. This will allow the dogs to get to know each other and for us to see how they interact.

I understand that occasionally people need to book last minute and I will do my best to accommodate last minute bookings. Additionally, if you would like to make a reservation, but my calendar will not let you, please reach out to me to see if an arrangement can be made. If I'm not traveling, I will often take more dogs than the limit I set on here. This is it also the case around the holidays when demand is higher.

Please note: I do NOT accept un-neutered or un-spayed dogs except for puppies under 6 months.

Finally, I have a car for transport and Atlas Vet is only a few blocks away. I have also used Friendship Animal Hospital for emergencies in the past.

Ernie, Humphrey, Ralph and I look forward to meeting you and your pup(s)!

I am a repeat customer and will continue to work with Holly - she truly loves your puppy like her own. Bourbon unfortunately got a cut on his foot, and she took him to the vet for multiple visits while I was out of town. He loves her so much!
We were nervous about leaving Gidget for the first time but Holly was a wonderful host and we are so glad to have a reliable dog-sitter for when we go out of town. The things I appreciated most about Holly: she is very responsible and communicative. I feel super confident in her judgement - if there was an emergency I am sure she would handle it with swift grace and wisdom. She treats the dogs she watches like her own. For example, she takes the dogs on (safe and controlled) off-leash hikes or long on-leash walks every day! This ensured that Gidget was happy, healthy and exhausted when we picked her up. Thank you, Holly!
Holly is awesome!

Very professional and clearly loves dogs! She spoiled our dog with lots of exercise and attention. She was very quick to respond to messages on this site and by text. And we received some really sweet videos and pictures of our pup while we were away. It was just like having a friend or family member take care of Baxter - I knew he was probably having more fun with Holly than he would normally have at home!
Max has a wonderful time with Holly G!
My two dogs first experience away from home was with Holly. When I picked them up the next day they were their normal boisterous, happy and wagging selves. Holly is authentic, the real deal, she knows dogs. She sends little videos and pictures when something cute is going on (which I found very reassuring). I highly recommend her.
Holly took great care of my dog while I was away on holiday, and her dogs are great too. Would definitely leave my dog with her again.
Holly was a truly wonderful host and I felt completely secure with my dog at her home for a full week. She treated him like one of her own, shared some amazing photos and videos and took him many places he had never been. I will work with Holly as much as possible!
Holly was amazing with Huck!
Holly was amazing! She took Daisy to the park every day to play with other dogs and even let her snuggle up in bed with her at night. She went out of her way to keep me posted with pics and videos of Daisy's daily activities. I simply can't say enough good things about her and feel very fortunate to have discovered her.
Holly was great. You can tell she is an animal lover and Bella felt very comfortable at her house and with her animals. She sent me videos of the dogs playing at the park. I will definitely board Bella with her again.
Holly was great. I could tell she knew a lot about dogs and was passionate about caring for them. I think Buster had a great time.
Storm had an amazing vacation with Holly. He had some playmates, and they went on loads of excursions. Thanks Holly!
Holly was great. Very accommodating and responsive. She took great care of our pup taking him for long walks in the park and play time with other doggie friends. Our guy was exhausted after the weekend which is a sign of a good time. She also was great at keeping us informed of all Jax's activities and didn't mind the text we sent just checking in on our little guy.
Holly was great with our dogs. They had a blast! A consummate dog lover who dies a great job
Holly is awesome! She has watched my husky Pepper a few times. Always checks in with photos and videos. Gives my pup lots of love and takes her for long walks in nearby parks. Pepper actually gets excited when she sees Holly, instead of worrying about me leaving, which she usually does with her other sitters. Almost makes me jealous, but I'm happy for her :)
Holly was amazing! This is the first time we left our dog with anyone else and I was hype anxious about finding someone I could trust to take good care of her. Holly was that and more. I was not the most simple or easy client but Holly was gracious and helpful and I couldn't have imagined it going any better. HIGHLY recommend.
Holly is the greatest! My two French Bulldogs get so excited when they are going to see her. A very comfortable environment, and she is very responsive. dogs get plenty of exercise as she takes them on daily walks and visits to various parks. She is also extremely good at sending pictures and videos daily. Highly recommend!
Frida came home tired and happy from her stay with Holly and her pups! She treats Frida as one of her own, and sends plenty of funny updates! Holly knows how to keep Frida entertained and comfy!!
Holly is a gem. She knows how to manage my special by, and special challenge, Bingo. I highly recommend her.
Bingo loves Holly! And Ernie and Humps! We always look forward to Camp Ernie at Holly's house.
Holly was wonderful as always!
Holly was one of the best hosts we've had through DogVacay so far. She has a few very friendly and lively animals of her own and your dog certainly won't be bored while you're away. Holly took Suzie to the park so she could run around with the pack and sent us photos and videos during her stay. She was also very flexible about pickup and drop-off times, which we appreciated! We'll definitely be looking to Holly as a host the next time we're out of town.
Holly and her pups, Ernie and Humphrey, took amazing care of Oliver! She took him on so many hikes and outdoor adventures that I'm sure he was upset to come back home to our apartment. We will definitely be using Holly in the future.
Our dog had a great time with Holly and her pups! She has some anxiety and Holly did a great job at keeping her comfortable and making sure that she had a good time. She sent a lot of pictures and videos to us while our dog was with her and we loved being able to see what they were up to and how happy our dog was. We will definitely bring her back to Holly the next time we go out of town!
Holly is amazing!!! My Labradoodle Beau goes to daycare twice a week and I cannot express how much he loves to visit her and her pets !! She is very accommodating, caring, and active.During Beau's visits she takes him on trips to the park and on trails so that when I pick him up he is so exhausted he sleeps the rest of the day. Holly sends hilarious photos and videos to keep me up to date, I highly recommend her to anyone in need of a sitter or overnight caretaker.
This is my second time leaving my puppy with Holly and he always seems very happy. They go outside and run around he loves having others to play with. She is very caring and sends updates. Would definitely recommend!
Holly is the best dog sitter I have found yet. She cared for our dog as if it were her own. My wife and I would not hesitate at all to leave our little Montana with Holly again.
Frida had a great time with Holly and her canine friends! She came home happy and tired. Holly did a great job of sending photos and video updates during Frida's stay, and gave Frida a lot of affection and attention. I highly recommend her, and plan on Frida being a repeat guest!
Holly is awesome! She's really great with dogs and is always friendly and professional. She sends pics and takes them on outdoor adventures, so we never have to worry -- our pups are always having fun and are well loved. Thanks! :)
Holly's wonderful! She knows a lot about dogs and my Alex bonded with her instantly an is very attached to her. I highly recommend her.
I don't know how she does it, but Holly manages multiple dogs at once, and they all love being together! Bingo thinks of her house as his second home. Holly is always one of the first people I think of when I need care for my dog.
Miko absolutely loved her time with Holly and the other dogs who were there during the holidays. We received regular updates and photos, which is always nice. Miko's a bit mopey now that she's home and an only dog again -- she misses Holly and her new doggie pals!
Holly was great and we'd definitely use her again. Our dog, Basil, got along very well with her two dogs and seemed to be playing outside almost his whole stay! She was flexible with the pick-up and drop-off times and was able to accomodate me with my delayed flight times coming home. Thanks, Holly!
Holly is fantastic. She takes the dogs out for a nice hike by the river and my pup is always completely exhausted at the end of the day, it's fantastic.
Another wonderful stay at Holly's. She is awesome. Romps at the arboretum, bones, and she even met me half way when I was delayed in fetching my boy due to a delayed flight. 2 paws up!
Holly's place was awesome as usual!
Awesome, as always!
Holly is fantastic! She welcomed our pup into her house on very short notice, and was totally accommodating. She went above and beyond - in addition to regular walks she took our dog on hikes and spent many hours with her outside. She also gave our dog special attention - cuddling with her and making her feel welcome and loved. In addition, her own dogs were instant buddies and play mates for our pup. She even sent texts and photos so we could see!

It was wonderful to know our pup was in such amazing hands and having such a great summer vacation while we were out of town. Our dog came home totally happy and exhausted!

I HIGHLY recommend Holly if you want to give your dog a true vacation full of fun and love!
Bingo always has such a great time with Holly and her dog, Ernie. He always comes home TIRED. :) Holly was actually Bingo's foster mom before I adopted him, so he knows and loves spending time with her. She is great at dealing with his more challenging characteristics, and dotes on him. Highly recommend.
