GRAEAGLE DOG VACAY
WHERE HAPPY HOUNDS HANGOUT!
The High Sierras Awaits You!
This is the 4th year that I have offered professional dog sitting services with DogVacay serving the Graeagle, CA area. I found that I have a passion for dogs and cats. I feel like the Pied Piper of Pets when I have multiple visitors. They like to follow me around.
I can sit your pets at my home or yours. Or, I can arrive at your parked RV or your vacation rental and spend the day or night. Please book at least a week a head and a month ahead during the summer months especially if you plan to attend the Music Festivals, dirt biking or bike racing events, Crafts Fairs, Christmas Tree Lighting events, 4th of July Fireworks displays, etc..
Many of my DogVacay customers are returning knowing that their best friend is being well taken care of while they are away. So -- many thanks to those who are returning again and again. both locals and out-of-area visitors. And, many thanks for the outstanding reviews that they have posted on my behalf, not to mention Coco's.
I serve the High Sierra region within a 35 mile radius of Graeagle, CA which includes the towns of Sierraville, Sierra City, Loyalton, Quincy, Portola and anywhere in between. I can sit your friend at your home or mine. I also enjoy sitting cats too. I have 3 cats. My home is close to open space for walks, forested trails for hikes and the golf course after closing for on leash training, tennis ball and Frisbee throwing.
I have a friendly 2 year old Boxer named Coco Bella who is a great companion and loves playing with visiting guests. She is playful and bouncy and entertains guests. Bring your favorite toys. Coco has plenty of time to escort your dog on daily walks and assist with playtime. Don't forget your dog's favorite food and treats.
I have taken care of over 50 dogs and cats during my lifetime starting from when I was a little girl. Our family had 4 Boxers when we grew up which we loved to ride. I had a Siamese cat I got in college named Kitty. She lived to be 19 years old. I rescued Misty, a Flat-coated Retriever- Pyrenees mix that weighed 135 pounds and knocked me down at the beach in Coronado and broke my ankle. Then an English Spaniel named Patches who saved Cero's face from the mange. Also a German Sheperd named Terry el Terrible named that for stealing a turkey at Thanksgiving from a neighbor's outdoor picnic table when brought it home to me to share. Then I had a few mixed-mutts named Candy, Rosita, Motita and a dog named Cero (which means Zero in Spanish) who was starving at the fish market in Mexico and who had no hair, the mange , open sores and later we found out he was allergic to fish! He turned into a beautiful Terrier who loved to chase tennis balls and catch them on the bounce. The others I gave away to deserving families.
In 1995, I formed, legalized and operated for 10 years a SPCA in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico called Sociedad Protectora de Animales (SPA). There were so many dogs to rescue in Mexico. Many were starving on the streets. I'd pick them up, quarantine them, take them to the Vet, treat them for the mange, sores, ticks, dehydration, etc. Then I would train them (in Spanish) and give them away to caring homes. Very rewarding and it kept me busy when I was not farming gourmet vegetables and employing 600 pickers and packers.
After returning to the States from Mexico in 1995 and moving to the mountains of Graeagle, CA where we purchased land to develop which was named Gold Mountain, I acquired one of the smartest dogs ever, a Border Collie named Jake from the nearby shelter in Reno, NV. He spoke not a word on the hour drive home. He was with me for 10 years and went with me everywhere including playing golf on the Dragon golf course that I built. Jake and I and my trusty 7-iron would head out daily to play 9-holes. Jake loved chasing heavy equipment and testing the CAT driver's ability to not run him over. Jake became a hero one night around 2 am when woke me up and alerted me to a nearby fire in one of the Villas. He was integral in saving the building just in time because I called 911 in the nick of time..
Next, I owned a German Pointer named Sasha who was the sweetest dog I ever had. It was Sasha that encouraged me to open a pet store in Graeagle for 3 years. i could count on her to greet customers and never to enter the highway. But after she passed away, I found I enjoyed the flexibility of petting sitting at home to being tied to a storefront shop.
I still make leashes and collars for pets and sew custom-fitted pet coats. I am making pet beds using recycled materials and they get donated to the local animal shelter in Quincy, CA to provide warmth and softness. When the rescues get placed in a new home, they can take them with them to their new homes. My creations are also on sale to help support my worthy hobby.
When your pet visits, they get fed, walked and exercised, combed and petted. Coco provides most of the playing. The have little time to worry about being left with strangers. They become family. I can administer various types of medications, inject diabetes medications, lift and carry them, have a step ladder for my jeep, carriers for sleeping and timeouts and lots of love. Every pet is special.
Thanks for choosing DogVacay.com which makes my life so easy and allows me to spend more time with your visiting family members. DogVacay also provides the security of pet insurance.
And, thanks for choosing us! Mimi and Coco Bella! Hope to see you soon.
