About Loren

17 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I am a fulltime writer/editor and work from home, which gives me a flexible schedule for hanging with your pooch.

Currently, due to changes in the lease at my condo, I am unable to offer overnight boarding in my own home. I am looking to move soon, and am excited to get back to having dogs over for vacay with my own mix breed buddy Somewhere! I can, however, have dogs over for daycare. So if you just need a place for your pup to hang for the day, we can arrange that!

I also offer dog sitting on a daily and/or nightly basis at the owners home, along with dog walking, hiking and trips to the park. I can pick your dog up, take them on a long hike or to the dog park, or just hang with them at your house, whether for the afternoon or overnight! I find that this scenario is a better one anyway for most dogs, as they're able to keep their routine and sense of place intact. You can tell me about their schedule and show me a little of their world on the meet and greet, and I'll stay with them while you're gone, keeping their routine.

I don't have to bring my own dog with me when I do this. Different things work better for different dogs, but usually the people who hire me to do in-home care are doing so because their pups want to stay in their own environment, exactly as they're used to. I have two awesome roommates who watch my dog when I'm away. That being said, if your pup would be happier with a friend, I obviously *can* bring Somewhere with me!

A little more about me: I moved to LA from NYC in August of 2012, where I ran a dog rescue called Badass Brooklyn. In my last year there, I helped save over 400 dogs from high kill shelters in the South and thus have tons of dog experience! I have been working in dog shelters and rescuing dogs my entire life (it's a family thing) and I now do work for several rescues in LA and spend time with pups at LA city and county shelters doing temp testing. I have personally cared for 9 dogs throughout my life and have additionally fostered over 50. I "specialize" in large dog breeds and have a soft spot for "issue" dogs and discriminated breeds but I do love all shapes and sizes. So, bring on the toy poodles too :)

I can deliver medication, make vet visits, bathe, run and cuddle your dog - whatever you need. I am fine with dogs who have certain "ticks," as long as we talk them out beforehand and work through how to handle. No breeds are off-limits and size doesn't matter. I have been through everything with my clients and adopters and while I guess I'm not quite a dog professional technically, I'm as close as you can get amongst dog lovers!

(The photos above are of dogs I have solely parented or fostered for a long time pre-adoption.)

Loren is great and reliable. I use her ever time I go on vacation!
Lo was awesome!! She was flexible and there for us when we needed to change plans. Jazz loved her and for the first time we came home and she was in a calm State. Cheers to Lo!!
Loren was very sweet with our crazy but lovable 3 dogs. She was very easy to communicate with and coordinate a meeting with the dogs before our trip and then was great about sending photos and updates while we were gone. The dogs were very happy and content when we got home which is all we can hope for. Thanks Loren!
