I grew up in Maine with labradors and I absolutely love hanging with an awesome dog!
I'm extremely comfortable with large dogs and - having had roughly 15 years of lab walking - can manage a leash attached to up to 90 pounds. I have experience with terriers as well, and I sat regularly for a great schnoodle in the neighborhood.
My home is on the ground floor of an apartment building in the West Village, so there are no stairs to contend with. I have hardwood and tile floors, so your pup should be steady on his/her feet, be free of any hip problems that might cause or be exasperated by slipping, and have nicely clipped toenails :)
I'd like to watch dogs that are house-trained, mature enough (beyond the chewing/hyperactive phase, please), and friendly with people and other dogs. I don't have any pets, but I'd like to be prepared to encounter other dogs on a walk. Pups with sitter/stranger experience a major plus! I do go to work out of the home Monday - Friday, so your dog will need to be OK alone in a new home for up to 5 hours at a time.
Your pup's day with me:
- Morning walk of between 30 minutes and one hour.
- Lunchtime check-in
- One hour evening walk
- Dinner (depending on your feeding schedule)
- Pup chill: belly rubs, head pats, lots of the "Whos' A Good Dog??" game
