About Rachel

22 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
We have over 570 reviews and rank as the top sitter in the state on other sites, so we fill up quickly and recommend booking early. DogVacay's calendar will be blocked off sooner than other sites so be sure to message us as to whether or not we may have space available.

We are available for Meet & Greets most days between 12:00am and 8pm. We do request, for the comfort of our furry guests, that Meet & Greets are by appointment only.

Here at CountrySide DogDays, your dog will NEVER be left alone. We feature 24/7 supervision - your pet is never left alone or put in a kennel. Unless it's "potty" or exercise/play time, your pet is indoors with us! He or she will have round the clock care with the entire family. We are a family who, combined, have more than a lifetime's worth of caring for animals. We believe that a pet is more than a pet. He or she is a member of the family.

We will work with you and your dog to ensure a happy, stress free stay and will customize your dog's stay in keeping with your dogs regular routine. We'll do everything in our power to accommodate his or her needs to make sure that your pet's stay with us will be the next best thing to being in his or her own loving home.

Your dog will be relaxed in the country life style, over a quarter mile from the main road, but will only be ten minutes away from a licensed veterinarian should an emergency arise.

Best of all, you will have peace of mind, knowing that your dog is being cared for and loved!

What can we offer you? :

We do last minute bookings, medications, long or short stays, as well as multiple dogs and other pets that may need to stay with us. Be sure to ask us about our Doggie Daycare service as well. We do offer daycare for puppies at a slightly higher rate. Just message us! :)

There are no small children in the house. We do have cats, birds, small animals, and three dogs but they can be easily separated from your pet(s) if needed.

We encourage check-ins via phone, text or email and love to send you photo and video updates of your pet(s.)
What is CountrySideDogDays? :

CountrySideDogDays is a family owned and run business. Everyone in the family is a life long dog lover and can't remember a time that there was not at least one dog in the house. The family just doesn't feel complete without a dog because to us, dogs aren't just "pets," they are members of the family.

Tony is a retired police officer and EMT. He grew up with Border Collies and German Shepherds and a couple of much loved smaller sized mixed breed dogs. While on the police force he worked with training police dogs and is comfortable with all breeds. As a retired EMT he is quite comfortable giving medications of all kinds. Tony loves to play and cuddle with dogs of all shapes and sizes and is a very valuable member of our team.

Merry is Tony's wife and was a professional baker, but now devotes her time to caring for, playing with, and especially, making dogs of all shapes and sizes feel comfortable, relaxed and welcome!
Merry grew up with dogs as well (as just about every other pet) and has experience with several larger breeds such as German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Dalmatian, Siberian Husky and also smaller breeds such as the Pug, Cocker Spaniel and Shetland Sheepdogs. Merry and Tony have also owned a few "mutts" that were especially dear to their hearts. She and Tony currently own three barn cats named Silver, Figaro and Izzy, and a German Shepherd named Duchess.

Mark is the eldest son of Merry and Tony. Mark has been around dogs and animals of all kinds his entire life and worked as a Zoo Aide at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium during his teen years. He works full time during the evening, but is available during the morning hours to keep your pet company or to take a walk with your furry friend.

Rachel is Mark's wife. She grew up with an assortment of animals, her first being a Doberman Pinscher. From there her family adopted smaller dogs, including the elderly and disabled, and has worked professionally with animals for over six years. She has been involved with raising, training, and caring for dogs and nearly every other type of pet. Rachel has extensive knowledge of just about any critter. She and Mark currently have two chinchillas , and Walter, their cherished King Charles Cavalier.

Steven is Tony and Merry's youngest son. Steve graduated high school this year and will soon be enrolled in online college courses,
He not only loves dogs, but all types of animals and is the proud dog parent to a Shiba Inu mix named Dakoda - Koda for short. He also owns a beautiful Calico cat named Bella. Since Steve is not schooled away from home, he too is available to love, care for, and exercise your pet.

Over the years, this family has raised not only canines but equines, felines, arachnids, amphibians, reptiles, and many small animals and birds. You name it, we've owned it and loved it. Animals have been, and continue to be, our life - dogs being central to our menageries. We have the ability and experience to give your pet(s) the care and attention they deserve when you're unable to be there for them yourself.

What we need to know about your dog:

We at CountrySide DogDays have no breed preference, but we do understand that every breed is a little different to care for. Although together we've had a wide variety of dogs, we go out of our way to ensure that we will have the best understanding of your dogs breed and personality.
With that in mind, we have a simple list of things we will want to know about your furry family member which we send you in an email after you book with us.

When you visit our home:

The house itself is situated far from the road so you wont have to worry about your friend having anxiety from cars inside or outside of the home. On our nine acres of land we have three main areas for the dogs to walk, play and relax:

The front yard is fenced and has a large open grassy area for running and playing, plenty of shade trees, and pet friendly plants for your pooch to sniff! In this area we also have a jungle gym for the smaller fellas and a kiddie pool for all sizes! We do a lot of outdoor DIY and yard work, so weather permitting, anytime we're outside your dog will be right along for the fun.

Once again, according to your dog's routine or as you request, the amount of time your dog spends outside will depend on your preferences.
Beyond the fenced area there is a large, open and spacious field where dogs who are able to be off leash love to run.

The yard behind the house is open with a vast and friendly wooded area beyond it where dogs love to explore and maybe catch a glimpse of squirrels or deer!

Inside the home, your dog will spend their waking hours with family and will sleep where ever he or she will be most happy. We try to keep the dog in the same routine as their own home, whether it would be sleeping in a crate or on the bed, we will accommodate your dogs needs. We will supply a crate for your dog if needed.

Your furry friend will have supervision and care, twenty-four hours a day for the length of your pet's stay. Your friend will never be alone because there will always be someone here.

Rachel and her family are the best!!! We received emails and pictures twice daily of Rover which really helped to put us at ease! He looked like he was having so much fun in the pictures that we joked that he wasn't going to want to come home. They even stayed up late to let us pick him up after our plane was delayed coming home. And she sent us home a little Halloween treat for us and Rover. A++ service. We were so happy that we already booked his next 3 week stay this winter!
We have used Rachel several times as for both overnight pet sitting and doggy daycare. My dogs really enjoy Rachel and her family. They always come home tired and happy. I would highly recommend.
I've tried at least 6 dog sitters/kennels in the past few years and never could find someone I knew was taking good care of my dogs.

I can finally rest easy knowing I have a place to take my babies where I know they are loved and treated as I care for them. My dog is a blind diabetic and I had to leave her for 2 weeks! I was sent multiple pictures every day and a little synopsis of her day. It made me feel less guilty about leaving and able to enjoy my trip.

When we picked up my dog, she wasn't nervous or freaking out to see me. I knew she had a good stay and she didn't even seem like she wanted to leave!

We will definitely be using them again! I HIGHLY recommend them!
As usual everything went great and Charlie loves it there.
Great second visit with Rachel B. Our cocker enjoyed all the other dogs that were there, large and small, and I liked the multitude of pics that Rachel sent every day.
Our pups always love staying with Rachel - I think they're sad when we come to pick them up. Rachel has always been so flexible and willing to work with us to accommodate both our elderly dog and energetic younger dog.
Rachel is so great with our dogs! They're excited to see her, and pleasantly exhausted when we pick them up. They aren't frantic or upset like they used to be when we picked them up from the kennel. Also, she sends us the best pictures of them! Super responsive, very flexible, and very knowledgable about dogs, medical issues, etc.
Rachel and her family did an absolutely amazing job taking care of Moose Man. He is kind've a handful sometimes- energetic, active, always wanting to play even if other doggies want to sleep, etc. :)

He had so much room to play outside, and spent the majority of the day running around a huge yard with kiddie pools and toys. We kept calling his time at CountrySide his "summer camp" because it seemed like he was having the BEST time ever!

Rachel and her family sent us a TON of photos each day, often between 10-20, which were so much fun to look at while we were abroad. In addition, her kind words and fun summaries confirmed that she actually cared about Moose and was having fun taking care of him. It was a really good feeling to know he was loved while we were away!

Next time I go on vacation, I am definitely contacting CountrySide so Moose can have another vacation too! :)
I can't say enough wonderful things about having my dachshund Roxie stay with Rachel while we were away. It was so comforting to get daily photos of Roxie interacting with the other dogs and just relaxing. There was a fenced yard for playtime and she was with people all the time, which she really needs. Roxie can have separation anxiety, so Rachel's kind attention really helped. I would definitely recommend Rachel to anyone looking for quality care for their dog.
Our puppies Ariel and Buddy had a great time with Rachel and Tony during our vacation in this month. We loved daily photos and updates on what the puppies do all day with their friends at CountrySide DogDays. They came home happy and healthy. We loved that Rachel and Tony communicated with us daily and were always on top of the relevant information. Even when Buddy got scraped on his ear and needed some minor first aid, Tony was able to manage that easily, and alerted us right away. We loved working with Rachel and her family. They were very professional and gave us peace of mind that puppies were in good hands. We'll definitely recommend Rachel/Tony/Merry and CountrySide DogDays to our friends and family and continue to stay in touch for more fun time.
We left our two dogs with Rachel and family for a month while we went overseas. This was the first time we used Rachel, and I cannot be happier with the care and love she gave our pets. Rachel emailed us daily and sent photos of our pups. I could tell our dogs were happy and well cared for. They received a lot of good exercise and lots of belly rubs. The day after we got home, both our dogs looked antsy like they wanted to go back for more fun. We will definitely use Rachel again, and will probably take them back for day care. Thank you!
Rachel clearly enjoys dogs and my puppies were excited to see her. They were very comfortable with Rachel, her family and her own dogs. We will be back soon!
CountrySide DogDays has been such a wonderful place for my dogs to stay when I go out of town. The staff is well trained and someone is with the dogs 24/7. Best yet, they are free to run around and socialize with other dogs while attended instead of being crated or stuck in a kennel like many boarding facilities do these days.

There are two 3,000 sq. ft. fully-fenced areas for them to run around and play with other dogs which are there. These areas feature mature trees to provide shaded areas and a fresh water fountain & pond for the dogs to drink from. Plus, the staff takes the dogs out for walks around their 9 acre property.

It's clear from the pictures Rachel sends us each day and how tired they are when I pick them up that my dogs have a blast every time I board them here. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a safe, professional, and enjoyable place to board their pets for daycare or extended stays.
Puppies had a great day and fun at Rachel's Countryside Dogdays! They played very hard and came home exhausted. Ariel even cuddled with Tony, which is a rarity on a 1st day. We will definitely use them for daycare and boarding again! 5 stars from us.
Zephyr always likes to go to Countryside. We enjoy the daily pictures and she looks happy. We have used Rachel many times a bond will continue to do so.
Great stay! Rachel was great at sending pictures and updated us on our pups weekend. We are already using her again next week!
The dogs loved it here! So relaxing and enjoyable, they will definitely be back!
Rachel and company were incredible! Karma spent a month there and the daily pics and notes were awesome, and we could see how loved and welcomed she was. She returned home happy and healthy and tired from all the play and attention. I've already rebooked for our next trip!
We had no hesitation leaving our Beagle Ryder with Rachel. The entire family is dedicated to seeing that the boarding pets are comfortable, and not under stress. We tried several but this is where Ryder will stay in the future.
Our second time putting Dexter (and this time Dakota too) up with Rachel and everything was stellar. Probably better than last time actually, just in that the dogs seemed to get really comfortable this time, lying with the family members during downtime and things. The pups get lots of outdoor activity time, as evidenced by ample photos and video. Rachel is great.
Finally had a chance to review my dog's stay at Rachel's. As usual, we feel so secure and happy when we receive daily pictures of our dog during her stay. She is obviously having a good time. We always say she is going on her vacation too. I will continue using Rachel for future stays for my dog.
Wonderful as always!
Rachel was great! She arranged a meet and greet on very short notice, and spent a ton of time answering questions and making sure we were comfortable leaving our two dogs with her. We got daily updates with great photos. Super responsive, easy to schedule. We felt safe leaving our fur babies with her. Our highly active Australian Shepherd was happy and tuckered out when we got her back, and our neurotic elderly dog was calm and happy - no small feat! It will not be their last stay with Rachel!
I can't begin to say how relaxed I was leaving my dogs in Rachel's care. She did an excellent job of keeping my them happy and healthy during their stay. She sent me updates and photos every day to let me know how they were spending their day. It's not easy taking care of a nervous German Shepherd and a quirky, mischievous Shiba Inu, but Rachel kept them out of trouble and didn't let them feel lonely or alone! I will definitely have her watch them for me again! Thanks!
You can tell that Rachel loves the dogs she cares for. Our dog loves to play with other dogs and he did that all week!
Rachel was great and I could tell Dexter was going to be comfortable right away. She asked lots of questions to make sure she was well prepared, which was appreciated. She lives on a large piece of land outside the city so it's great for dogs who like to play outside. Highly recommended and will definitely be back.
Had a great first time experience leaving Ryder, our beagle, with Rachel. Ryder has separation anxiety and we had some problems with other dog care facilities where they crate or cage the dogs at some time of the day or night. Rachel understood this and it is her goal to make each dog's experience as close as possible to their normal daily routine. Ryder was treated like a member of the family. Since it was his first time here, naturally we had some anxiety and curiosity on how he was doing. But Rachel sent us multiple photos with comments several times a day and he seemed to be having a ball! Our minds were at ease so we enjoyed our vacation more.
Our dogs had a great time! Even our elderly girl did great with her anxiety. Rachel is super accommodating and flexible. Love this place.
We had set up our first overnight visit with our dog over a 4 day period with Rahel. Our year old dog seemed to really enjoy her time playing and making new friends. While we were on vacation we received daily photos and reports of Piper's day. It's a great feeling to know we can go out of town and have a safe and healthy place for our dog. I also appreciated the thoroughness Rachel gave about their services. It was comforting to know that she takes her business and the care of animals very seriously. Thank you!
This is our first extended time leaving Zephyr with Rachel. It was awesome. I cannot say enough about how we enjoyed seeing daily photos of our dog. On her birthday Rachel even gave her a present and sent us a video of her playing with it. We will definitely use Rachel again!!
As with our last visit, Rachel and Mark are the best. Will definitely use their service again. It's great to know they are there if anything would come up that we need a sitter in a hurry.
When I pull up to Rachel's house, Jackson (best dog ever), pretty much leaps out of the car in excitement. He loves visiting with the other dogs and Rachel and never looks back when I leave him. He comes home happy and tired! I get just the break I need and he gets all the fun he needs. Win-win.
We have an active dog who loves every person and every dog he comes in contact with and so this sociable home setting is the best place for Jackson when he can't be with us. I have complete confidence in the care he receives when he is with Rachel. She is very good about sending picture updates which I value so much. I highly recommend this family as great dog sitters!
This was our dog's first time at a pet sitters. She came home calm and pleasantly tired, unlike when she returns from the kennel. From the pictures we received several times daily from Rachel she was having a good time. It makes my husband and I feel that we have left our dog in good hands when we take an extended vacation.
Having our Jewel stay with Rachel and Mark was a real Godsend. She was slowly introduced to the other dogs and got along wonderfully. Rachel is very caring and treated Jewel as special, not just one of the pack. I'm planning on bringing Jewel back for day visits because she had so much fun with the other dogs. We have a longer trip in the fall and are already planning on having Jewel stay at Rachel's. Getting e-mails daily was really nice. A great big THANK-YOU to Countryside!
Great first time experience! Drop off was easy. Jackson (best dog in the world) was immediately right at home with the other dogs. When I got to work Rachel had already sent me some pictures of Jackson getting to know the gang. That was wonderful just to see how happy he was. She sent more pictures towards the end of the day. He spent just the day there and pickup was just as easy as drop off. Next time he is spending the night and I will feel very comfortable leaving him with Rachel and her family.
