I live in a cozy, dog-friendly apartment building in Adam's Point, near Lake Merritt, with a four-year-old shih tzu named Chessie. I grew up with a standard schnauzer and worked as a dog walker in my 20s. I am available for short neighborhood walks in Oakland and Berkeley. Group and private walks available. All walking clients receive individualized attention and loving care. I am also available for dog-sitting in my home. I provide round-the-clock human companionship and frequent outings to dog parks and hiking trails. I strive to provide the best vacation for each dog, full of cuddles, play time, and long walks outdoors. And there's plenty of dog beds and comfy places to lounge in the apartment. About this sitter: My name is Jenny and I am an enthusiastic dog lover and owner. I live with a 10-pound adult shih tzu, who gets along well with other dogs, in the Lake Merritt area. We are available to walk your dog and sit your pet in my home. I have been a dog owner for four years and also grew up with a standard schnauzer who died when I was 16. In my 20s I worked for a dog walking service for two years, and I have been sitting dogs with Rover.com for over one year. I am a member of NAPPS (National Association of Professional Pet Sitters) and I am a San Francisco SPCA donor.

Because I live in a small apartment, I prefer to sit small and medium-sized dogs. However, I'm open to any dog if it's the right fit for us both. I live in a carpeted apartment and am unable to accommodate dogs who aren't completely housebroken. Beyond that I'm happy to sit any dog who would like to stay with me and Chessie in our home. It is helpful to know if the dog has allergies or dietary restrictions, and if the dog takes medication. I also like to know if your pet has fear or anxiety around people or dogs, or any other behavioral issues. Finally, it's great to learn how they enjoy getting exercise and anything else that is pertinent to their care and well-being.
A typical day
Here's where we'll take our walks I will take your dog on walks around Lake Merritt and on walks and hikes through local parks such as Linda Park, Dracena Quarry Park, Redwood Regional Park, Point Isobel and other local destinations. If your dog is used to walking in a specific park or outdoor area, I'm happy to take your pet there. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your dog is welcome to sleep on my bed with me and my shih tzu, or in a dog bed, on the sofa, or on the floor. Pretty much anywhere she or he is comfortable! Time I'll spend with your dog Currently I freelance part time out of my own home, so I am able to be with your dog full time. Your pet will not be left alone while in my care. Individual arrangements can be made regarding walks, outings, and other special requests. I ensure that your dog receives the daily level of activity he or she deserves, whether that's all-day snuggle sessions or vigorous hikes on the trails. I also send text updates with photos daily to help you stay connected with your pet while you are away.

Why I love dog sitting A standard schnauzer named Sprite joined our family when I was three years old and she died when I turned 16. In high school I worked at our local veterinarian and in my twenties I worked as a professional dog walker in the Washington D.C. area for two years. Three years ago I adopted a shih tzu puppy and since that time I have enjoyed living a very dog-centered life!
