Hi, I'm Erica! I'm a huge animal lover. I have four dogs and one cat of my own. I'm actively involved volunteering and fostering dogs for local animal rescues. I have a full time job and I live about 7 minutes from work. I live in a dog friendly two-flat right off the 90/94 Ogden exit in the West Town neighborhood.
In order to provide the best low stress environment for your dog I only watch adult dogs. Puppies tend to create a high energy environment that can cause stress to adult dogs. By watching dogs of similar energy levels the stress level associated with boarding your dog is greatly reduced. My goal is to create a virtual stress-free home away from home for your dog to have fun and relax in!
Your dog will feel comfortable and at ease in my two bedroom apartment which includes a private completely fenced in backyard-patio. Your pup will never be left unattended outside since I am always outside with the dogs. The patio will be used for potty breaks and for playing fetch, etc. I let the dogs out 4 to 6 times a day for potty breaks. Your pup is more than welcome lay on my couch during the day and sleep in bed with me at night. I have three wireless camera that allow me to keep an eye on the dogs while I’m at work.
I don’t charge extra for treats, bedtime snacks, peanut butter stuffed Kongs, one-on-one play time, cuddles, or belly rubs! I’ll treat your pup just like she’s/he’s is one of my own!
I have extra food/water bowls, crates, blankets, toys, etc. for your pup to use. I do ask that you bring your dog’s food, a non-retractable leash, a collar with ID tag, and any medications. I also encourage you to write out a detailed summary of your dog’s typical schedule, along with feeding instructions, for me to follow.
My charge is $35 per night per adult dog. I can watch adult dogs under 40 pounds and with special needs. I can make some exceptions for dogs over 40 pounds but it is a case by case decision. Dogs with moderate to low energy levels do best in my home. Your dog must be dog/cat friendly, spayed/neutered as well as up to date on vaccinations (proof from your vet required), as well as free from contagious diseases (i.e. kennel cough or worms). The number of dogs I have in my home varies from 5 to 12 dogs at one time- this number includes my own four dogs- but typically I have 5-8 dogs at one time.
Typical pick-up and drop-off time frames are between 7am-8:30am or 5:30pm-10pm. These times vary depending on my work schedule. In general I do not allow pick-ups or drop-offs before 7:00am or after 10:00pm.
If you prefer that I watch your dog exclusively (with no other guest dogs boarding in my home, just my own dogs) that can be arranged for $100 per night per dog. Please send me a message to request this custom service.
I understand that I am not the perfect fit for all dogs. Being a Dogvacay Community Mentor, I have met many wonderful DogVacay hosts in Chicago. I'm certain I can refer you to a host that is able to accommodate your pup’s individualized needs. Just send me a message. I'd be happy to refer you to another DogVacay Host.
I am also available to pick up and drop off your dog if needed for $10 each way with in a 4 mile radius. If you are outside of the 4 mile radius please contact me for pick up and drop off pricing. I'm happy to accommodate your needs.
I am comfortable caring for dogs with medical issues (require medication, blind, deaf, etc.) as well as behavior issues (food aggression, separation anxiety, general anxiety, etc.). Unfortunately I am unable to accommodate any dog with any contagious illnesses/condition.
I am Pet CPR certified by PetTech. In case of emergency I can drive your dog to the vet. I live about 1 mile from the closest vet's office and about 3 miles from the emergency vet.
If you’d like to book a reservation with me I encourage you to set up a meet & greet with me and my pets! I look forward to meeting you and your pup! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
