We're an active family with 2 young boys (ages 11 and 9) who love animals! My husband Bill works full time in marketing at University of Penn. I'm a working actress and voice over artist with a sporatic schedule that often allows me to be home off and on throughout the day to care for our wonderful dogs -- Cleo (a terrier mix rescue) and Georgie (a papillon rescue), and Sammy and Zeke who we just adopted last summer after fostering them through WAGS Rescue and Referral for a year! They are shih tzu-poodle mix bonded brothers who are about 10 years old and very affectionate. We haven't let a house full of dogs keep us from continuing to foster others through WAGS but we tend to not have a DogVacay guest while there is also a foster in the house. We want to keep the total of dogs in the house under 5. This way they all get lots of attention and also have lots of fun socializing with our resident friendly dogs. Our furry guests not only get lots of love but also grooming, running around outside in our large fenced in backyard, walks in our quiet suburban neighborhood, and tons of hugs and kisses!
We do have one cat but she's rather feral (even after 16 years) and never comes down from the upstairs level. She's content staying up there away from all of us as much as we've tried to coax her down. Honestly, most of our guests, humans and dogs, don't even know we have a cat.
Last summer we erected a chicken coop! We now have 4 chickens who reside off to the side of the house which means they never come in contact with the dogs. But you can visit with the girls when you bring your dog by. They're very social and fun to watch!
Here at the Wagging Tails Ranch, we are happy to have your dogs join the rest of the family on the couch and on the bed, unless you insist otherwise. We are happy to spoil your furry loved ones but don't want to start any habits you've fought hard to discourage.
Is your dog elderly or disabled? Not a problem. Lots of hands on deck to keep them healthy and happy.
Speaking of health, it's important us that all the dogs staying here are fully vetted, meaning up-to-date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered unless they are under 6 months (female) or 4 months (male).
Our family's health is important too so we do ask that all dogs who stay here be bathed just before arrival to help us keep our home clean and as germ-free as possible! But it's especially important to have them bathed before their stay because my husband and I are very allergic to poison ivy and know how easy it is for dogs to come in contact with it even just walking down a sidewalk. We truly appreciate you working with us to keep our home clean and our skin rash-free! You will be glad to know we are vigilant about keeping our yard free of weeds and plants that could hurt both humans and animals.
