About Brittany

1 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I am a student who has had pets all of her life, mostly cats up until a year ago when I rescued my first dog, a Mexican puppy named Harley.
Thanks to my sweet little fluff ball I have lots of experience dealing with stubborn dogs, post surgical care, administering medications, treating separation anxiety, excited peeing (oh the joys of having a fur baby) and training basic obedience and a few other fun tricks.
Harley plays very well with all dogs and also knows when to respect the space of an older or lower energy dog.
My apartment is best suited to medium or small dogs as doesn't have a backyard with lots of space. However I live within walking distance to a beautiful dog park that, with permission from the owners, I would be happy to bring their dog to so they may run and socialize with the other dogs as well. If there are any issues with aggression or the dog simply is not spayed/neutered or up to date on vaccinations my apartment is only one block away from the St Lawrence trails and parks where we will go for walks.

My only request is that dogs staying overnight be accompanied by their kennel unless they are 100% dependable for housetraining and can be trusted being left to roam freely.

Brittany is a terrific pet sitter because she is very present and mindful without being controlling. She lets the dogs have their freedom but she is always vigilant to make sure they are safe. One example is when I was with her in the dog park and a big dog approached Harley, her dog who was smaller. She walked a little closer to the two, kept a close eye and made sure they were happy as they had their first meeting. Brittany just naturally finds dogs hilarious. How they play, what they do. She is very good at observing and she laughs and has fun. To me, this is a fabulous trait of a dog owner or dog sitter.

Brittany Thogersen loves to nurture, groom and talk with her pets. She has a very strong personality and she makes sure her pets behave, especially in public and around others. She had two cats for 2 years (Freddy and Vera) and during her stay in Mexico City she adopted a rescue puppy (Harley). I would say that this experience in owning a pet in a dangerous city, where she had to be extra careful and alert to the wild dogs that were on the loose.
Brittany also enjoys going for long walks with Harley.

Brittany is a very responsible and conscientious woman who held a retail management position when she was 19. She has travelled on her own in South America and is very resourceful. She also has her Lifeguard and CPR training to help her deal with emergencies and she keeps a very level head.

Everyone will appreciate the care Brittany would provide to their cherished family pets.

This was my first time using DogVacay and it went great! My dog Yoshi is just 9 months old, very playful and still has lots to learn so he can be a handful. Brittany and her dog Harley made for great company for Yoshi. He was spoiled with all kinds of attention, toys, and play. He got along really great with Harley and came back home exhausted from playing with her so much. Brittany sent multiple photo/video updates of Yoshi, which was very reassuring because he hasn't spent very much time away from home since I've had him. I'm pretty sure Yoshi can't wait for the next time he gets to see Brittany and Harley again!
