About Shannon

18 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
My husband and I live in a well taken care of home in Portage IN with 2 dogs that are dog friendly. My yard is rather large (approx. .30 acres) and with a 6 foot wood privacy fence. I volunteer for local animal shelters and have fostered many times for Lakeshore Paws in Valparaiso IN. My husband and I have decided to break from fostering dogs and offer our home and services to people who need their baby taken care of while they are away. We do not have children so our dogs are our babies. That is also how we treat other dogs who are in our care for a short time. My husband and I enjoy having dogs and we also enjoy spoiling them rotten. When we babysit your will be sure to receive many updates and pictures of your babies being treated like family. My husband and I work opposite schedules so if you are booking for overnights during the week they would never be kenneled or left out without supervision for more than 3-4 hours at most but most days they would never be left unsupervised.

Our dogs did very well with Shannon.
OMG they were just awesome. Mushu was so happy there. It was just like he was at home except he had other dogs to play with. Definitely will use them again. No doubt about it.
Shannon is a wonderful person, she cares about dogs and it shows. She was very accommodating and professional. We will definitely have her sit again.
Another great experience!
Shannon was amazing! I have a potty training puppy and she continued to train him while I was gone for me! He didn't go backwards with potty training which was awesome! She also watched our toy poodle who is very timid and once he warmed up he did great with her. She also sent me updates and pictures while I was gone too! I would definitely have her watch our dogs again and highly recommend her!
This is the first time we had ever had our Belle stay with anyone other than family or close friends. We were nervous at first, but Shannon and her husband took such wonderful care of her. I loved getting picture updates. She was really treated as one of their own, and when we picked her up, she seemed so happy and comfortable. It was a great experience, and if we are ever in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to book another stay. Thank you so much!!
Ditka had a great time and was very well cared for. We would be happy to have Shannon watch her again in the future.
My sweet Sadie was very well taken care of during her stay with Shannon. My Sadie is deaf and mostly blind, and they were kind enough to carry her up and down the stairs during her stay, which I'm sure made her feel right at home.
Our dog, Dash, had had a stressful experience when we left him at our vet's kennel a few years ago, and because of that we had since avoided any trips where we couldn't bring him along.

The Meet and Greet at Shannon's went well so we were feeling optimistic that this would be a much better situation for him, and it truly was! He came home healthy, happy, and clean! The pics and the details she included in her texts (such as the way he plops his head in your lap when he's looking for some attention) helped us to know he was relaxed and acting just like he does at home with us! It gave us such peace of mind to know that!

Shannon, we truly appreciate how you welcomed Dash into your home; although I'm thinking you probably don't miss his 5:15 wake up alerts! Thank you so much for taking such good care of him.
We were so worried about finding a sitter for our rottweiller. Riley is a sweet girl, but she can be intimidating. Shannon and her husband were awesome with Riley. We had a meet and greet and also a 2 hour trial run before her actual stay. Everything went great and the stay went even better! Shannon and her husband took Riley in and treated her just like one of their own. Based on some of the pictures Shannon sent us, we were afraid Riley wouldn't want to come home! This was an awesome experience and we will definately be using Shannon again.
Shannon and her husband were great with Cracker. We were not able to have any communication but when we arrived home from our vacation I got to review the pictures that Shannon had sent and I could tell that Cracker was happy. He had other dogs to play with and got along well with them. After we picked Cracker up he actually cried on the way home, so I know she took good care of him! Thanks Shannon! I would not hesitate to book with Shannon again.
Max had a fabulous time with Shannon and her family! Very easy to work with and accommodating!
Shannon and her husband were very good with Angel. She is an old dog and just before her stay with them she had some medical issues. They were more that accommodating with her. We really appreciated all the attention they gave her because we were feeling bad that she might have been so much trouble, but she did really well with them and their dogs. We actually thought Angel just might have preferred if we let her stay longer.

Angel had some medication while she stayed with them and she has a tendency to find ways to not take it. Shannon was creative in finding ways to get her to take it. We really appreciate that especially because Angel has always been really good at finding ways to eat everything we hide her meds in while not taking the pills. She did an excellent job.
Sophie had SUCH a great time. She is the only doggie at home so when she went for the long weekend, she was able to play with Shannon's dogs. She slept most of the afternoon when she got home because she was so worn out. :) Shannon and her husband are so very caring to others dogs and I was wasn't worried at all when I left her there. Sophie just walked right in after the meet and greet like it was her home. I will definitely use Shannon again. I think Sophie is waiting for me to drop her off just so she can play!
