Here at Tired Dawgz, our lives revolve around our pets and fostering dogs from our local shelters. We are well known and trusted in the rescue community. As such, we come with many references that can easily be provided to you!
Our home features a yard that is completely privacy fenced in, with locking gates. It is very secure! The yard is also split in half with privacy fencing, so the boarding dogs have their own yard! This is imperative for dogs that may not get along with our resident dogs. Why should those dogs miss out on a nice romp in the yard because of personality differences?! The boarding dog yard also has agility equipment, sprinklers and doggy pools for your dog's enjoyment! Fun is a huge priority here! We don't want your dog's worrying about where you've gone off to!
For safety reasons, we do not offer completely free roaming boarding. We believe that crates are necessary when housing multiple dogs. Whenever we aren't home, any boarding guests will be crated in a size appropriate crate with a dog bed and frozen Kong to entertain them.
Our typical days here are action packed! Wake up, potty and breakfast happens between 6:30am and 7:00am then we begin our adventures! If the weather looks clear and it isn't beastly hot, we will go for a trip out to the Compound in SE Palm Bay. The Compound is a large area of undeveloped land with paved roads. We hike our dogs out there for some off leash fun almost daily. Our dogs absolutely love it! All boarding dogs will have the opportunity to take this trip for an addition $10. No boarding dogs will ever be off leash for safety reasons. We have long, fifty foot leashes that we use for these trips when dogs are not trustworthy off leash. Nothing will bring your dog more joy than adventuring into the wilderness and enjoying the mud puddles left behind by the rain.
Dogs who do not go on the Compound trip, will be taken on a half mile to a mile walk, depending on heat and weather.
Once morning walks and Compound trips are done, dogs will be given one to two hours of nap time to help digest their breakfast and replenish some energy. After nap time is over, it's time for fun in the backyard! Dogs will be given an hour to play and strut in the yard, enjoying the doggy pools and sprinklers! If the temperature isn't horrendous, we will then go for a short, half mile walk before heading back home for more down time!
Which brings us to lunch time! If you'd like to bring bones or extra food for your dogs, this is the time they would get it. Lunch time is spent crated for an hour. After that busy morning and yard time, these dogs will absolutely be begging for a nap. I often go to pet friendly restaurants with friends of mine during lunch and will often take a boarding dog with me, at no additional cost. This is something that I like to do while everyone else is passed out back at home.
Our third walk of the day will happen mid-afternoon to early evening, depending on the temperature. (You'll notice I mention temperature a lot, we do live Florida! lol) This walk will be a mile long walk, perhaps longer for our higher energy guests. Once home from the walk, it's time for more back yard fun! We may also do a second Compound trip during this time, if we don't have many boarding dogs or if the weather is really nice. You'd be amazed at how much dogs love the Compound and the freedom it provides!
After that, it's cool down for dinner time and one last, short potty walk before bed time around 9:00pm.
Any dogs that cannot physically complete this much exercise will not be forced too. We operate with the health and safety of every dog in mind!
We have very few restrictions! Dogs cannot be human aggressive and must be dog tolerant. They do not have to love dogs but must be able to safely exist with dogs near them. That means, if your dog is crated next to another dog, they must be able to handle that without acting aggressively in their crate. We have the means and knowledge to safely rotate dogs that would rather not have doggy friends but we have to maintain the safety of other dogs, as well.
All breeds are welcome but we adore bully breeds! You won't have to worry about your pit bull type dog or bully breed here! We are incredibly knowledgeable with these dogs! They will be in good hands.
If your dog is NOT cat friendly or has never been around cats, please let us know! We will require that your dog visit our home and meet our cat before booking any boarding. Our cats are incredibly dog savvy and are often used to cat test foster/shelter dogs. We must ensure that your dog will be safe around our cats. Again, they don't have to love cats but they must be able to exist around them without wanting to eat them.
Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns! If we cannot accommodate your pet, we can likely refer you to someone who can!
*Compound hikes are added to your total through a custom listing. If you would like to add Compound hikes to your boarding, please send us a message BEFORE booking! Each hike is $10 and we can go twice a day.
*If booking multiple dogs, please send us a message with how many dogs first. We offer a discount on multiple dogs! It's $20 per night, for each additional dog. So, two dogs would be $50 a night and three dogs would be $70 a night. We will need to create a custom quote for you in this case. Please message us before booking, to prevent any issues with your reservation.
