About Heather

13 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Here at Tired Dawgz, our lives revolve around our pets and fostering dogs from our local shelters. We are well known and trusted in the rescue community. As such, we come with many references that can easily be provided to you!

Our home features a yard that is completely privacy fenced in, with locking gates. It is very secure! The yard is also split in half with privacy fencing, so the boarding dogs have their own yard! This is imperative for dogs that may not get along with our resident dogs. Why should those dogs miss out on a nice romp in the yard because of personality differences?! The boarding dog yard also has agility equipment, sprinklers and doggy pools for your dog's enjoyment! Fun is a huge priority here! We don't want your dog's worrying about where you've gone off to!

For safety reasons, we do not offer completely free roaming boarding. We believe that crates are necessary when housing multiple dogs. Whenever we aren't home, any boarding guests will be crated in a size appropriate crate with a dog bed and frozen Kong to entertain them.

Our typical days here are action packed! Wake up, potty and breakfast happens between 6:30am and 7:00am then we begin our adventures! If the weather looks clear and it isn't beastly hot, we will go for a trip out to the Compound in SE Palm Bay. The Compound is a large area of undeveloped land with paved roads. We hike our dogs out there for some off leash fun almost daily. Our dogs absolutely love it! All boarding dogs will have the opportunity to take this trip for an addition $10. No boarding dogs will ever be off leash for safety reasons. We have long, fifty foot leashes that we use for these trips when dogs are not trustworthy off leash. Nothing will bring your dog more joy than adventuring into the wilderness and enjoying the mud puddles left behind by the rain.

Dogs who do not go on the Compound trip, will be taken on a half mile to a mile walk, depending on heat and weather.

Once morning walks and Compound trips are done, dogs will be given one to two hours of nap time to help digest their breakfast and replenish some energy. After nap time is over, it's time for fun in the backyard! Dogs will be given an hour to play and strut in the yard, enjoying the doggy pools and sprinklers! If the temperature isn't horrendous, we will then go for a short, half mile walk before heading back home for more down time!

Which brings us to lunch time! If you'd like to bring bones or extra food for your dogs, this is the time they would get it. Lunch time is spent crated for an hour. After that busy morning and yard time, these dogs will absolutely be begging for a nap. I often go to pet friendly restaurants with friends of mine during lunch and will often take a boarding dog with me, at no additional cost. This is something that I like to do while everyone else is passed out back at home.

Our third walk of the day will happen mid-afternoon to early evening, depending on the temperature. (You'll notice I mention temperature a lot, we do live Florida! lol) This walk will be a mile long walk, perhaps longer for our higher energy guests. Once home from the walk, it's time for more back yard fun! We may also do a second Compound trip during this time, if we don't have many boarding dogs or if the weather is really nice. You'd be amazed at how much dogs love the Compound and the freedom it provides!

After that, it's cool down for dinner time and one last, short potty walk before bed time around 9:00pm.

Any dogs that cannot physically complete this much exercise will not be forced too. We operate with the health and safety of every dog in mind!

We have very few restrictions! Dogs cannot be human aggressive and must be dog tolerant. They do not have to love dogs but must be able to safely exist with dogs near them. That means, if your dog is crated next to another dog, they must be able to handle that without acting aggressively in their crate. We have the means and knowledge to safely rotate dogs that would rather not have doggy friends but we have to maintain the safety of other dogs, as well.

All breeds are welcome but we adore bully breeds! You won't have to worry about your pit bull type dog or bully breed here! We are incredibly knowledgeable with these dogs! They will be in good hands.

If your dog is NOT cat friendly or has never been around cats, please let us know! We will require that your dog visit our home and meet our cat before booking any boarding. Our cats are incredibly dog savvy and are often used to cat test foster/shelter dogs. We must ensure that your dog will be safe around our cats. Again, they don't have to love cats but they must be able to exist around them without wanting to eat them.

Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns! If we cannot accommodate your pet, we can likely refer you to someone who can!

*Compound hikes are added to your total through a custom listing. If you would like to add Compound hikes to your boarding, please send us a message BEFORE booking! Each hike is $10 and we can go twice a day.

*If booking multiple dogs, please send us a message with how many dogs first. We offer a discount on multiple dogs! It's $20 per night, for each additional dog. So, two dogs would be $50 a night and three dogs would be $70 a night. We will need to create a custom quote for you in this case. Please message us before booking, to prevent any issues with your reservation.

Heather is one of the very few people I would trust my dog with. She takes excellent care of him and I know he's always safe and happy with her! She's very knowledgeable and knows what she's doing!

Heather stayed at our home while my husband and I were out of the country for 2 weeks. We are crazy dog people who take the care of our animals very seriously (we also have a cat and a chameleon). We've never both been away from them for an extended period of time and we were really nervous about leaving them. She didn't bat an eye when we left our (extensive) "incase of emergency" contact list. (we even went so far as to state what should happen if we died....did I mention we're a little crazy about our animals?)

Our animals have to be separated when unsupervised. We have baby gates set up, and the dogs are used to the routine. Heather not only met our expectations she exceed them, and the transition for the animals was smooth. She made it so that we were no longer nervous about being away from them. She sent us daily updates and pictures letting us know how they were doing, if there were any issues and even if anything funny happened. If we reached out to her, she would respond in a very timely manner-and completely sympathized with our over the top craziness (concern) about the animals. Her prices are very reasonable and you won't find a better, top of the line pet sitter for your needs. We definitely recommend her, and she will be the first person we call should we need another sitter in the future.

Heather was great with my 2 dogs! Drop off and pick up was very easy. My dogs seemed very happy!
Our Marlin had a blast at the compound. He ran and played up and down hills, in the mud and through water. What an awesome time for a dog! With all that he came back to us nice and clean.
My husband & I just moved from Miami & New York & haven't always been excited about the places we've had to leave our dog. When you love your pet you feel guilty if you don't get a good feeling about where you're leaving them, I worry constantly about if she's just stuck in a crate or tied up outside. Not knowing anything about the area when I first drove up I was a little nervous and unsure about how my dog would be treated or if she'd be in a clean environment. Later that day Heather sent me a picture of their first walk and my Luna looked happy, relaxed and tired, three of my favorite things lol. Later Heather sent updates on their walks, her behavior, the little pond and mud pit they let her run and play and swim in. I honestly have never seen Luna so excited and comfortable at any place I've left her. Heather was optimistic and genuinely excited to interact with Luna and it showed. Not everyone feels comfortable with pit bulls or can handle their strength and little idiosyncrasies but Heather was caring and confident. When I picked Luna up I saw a difference, usually she'd run for the door and continue whining until we left. This time she ran to greet me but calmed down a lot and didn't seem so restless. I trully appreciated the pictures, the updates and the kindness Heather and her family showed, I would recommend her as a caretaker for your dogs. I think she's a genuinely good hearted person. Thanks again

My crazy Cocker Spaniel, Wilbur, had a day filled with lots of fun at the Compound! He was picked up directly from my house at the scheduled time. While he was there, I got updates on how he was doing. He had so much fun playing in the mud and got a bath before he was brought back to me. He can't wait to go again!
