For some of us, dogs are not just part of our family. They ARE our family. And for our rescue beagle, I can't bear the thought of sending him to a kennel when we travel.
Because of DogVacay, our resident dog, Chester, has become less frightened and more playful around other dogs. Before moving to Boise, we became DogVacay hosts by opening up our home to some wonderful guests where I took care of dogs in our house by walking, playing, feeding and cleaning up after them.
I might be new to town, but I’m not new to caring for dogs. Ever since I was a little girl, dogs have been my favorite animal. I even held birthday parties for our dogs (complete with cookie cakes and paper party hats!). Growing up, I always cared for our dogs helping to feed, pick up after them in the yard, and play with them of course. I’ve always been the one asked to housesit for friends that had dogs. I once watched 2 dogs, a ferret, and a sugar glider!
It was only natural for me that I adopted my first rescue dog in my early 20s. Then, my husband and I rescued a second beagle 3 years ago. Sadly, we recently lost my oldest rescue beagle at 13 years old from a bone disease - he was my best friend. However, I’m used to giving oral medications up to 4x per day and can care for seniors that also need extra care like this.
I truly understand the importance of knowing that your dogs will be cared for and loved while you’re away from home. My dogs mean the world to me.
Since we’re currently renting an apartment in Southeast Boise, I don’t offer boarding right now, but would absolutely love to come to you and care for your dog in the comfort of his/her own home.
Looking for new walking buddies!
We’re especially hoping to do some walking with your dog because Chester really misses his big brother and I know he’d love to make some new friends here :) Chester is 5 years old, but used to waiting on his senior brother to catch up. So, we’re happy and able to match your dog’s walking pace.
Higher rates may apply is during holidays: add $10 the day before, the day of and the day after any major holiday.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN AN OVERNIGHT OR HOME VISIT?
Overnight rates and home visit rates cover up to 2 dogs. Because there is no limit to the love extended to our rescues, additional dogs are just $5 per dog per night / visit.
Overnights cover a 10-hour period. For example: 9p-7a, 10p-8a, or 11p-9a. It ALSO includes one 30 min. checkup visit in the middle of the day (typically between noon-3p). for outside breaks, walking (if no yard), and cuddles.
Home Visits are 30-45 minutes long. Just long enough to give bathroom breaks, food, medicines, and some lovin'. They can include short 10 min. walks if you don't have a yard. I recommend 3 home visits per day if you're going to be out of town and vacation packs can be purchased in bulk at a discount.
