I'm Jennifer and my other half is Forrest. Yes...that is really our names and because of the movie...we're known to most of our friends as "The Gumps"!
We have been pet owners and lovers for over well over 30 years. We have never not had a pet. As a teen and young adult, I tried all sorts of pets so am capable of caring for just about any pet. We will care for dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, horses, fish, lizards, birds, turtles, chickens, goats, geese, ducks, buffalo, donkeys, and many more have been attended to over the last 25+ years.
Animals are quite content in their own home so we also offer the option of us coming to your home to feed and care for them. Whether it's a planned vacation or a last minute family emergency, we can be there to help support your pet. We treat all animals as if they are our own. They get plenty of love and yes maybe even a treat or two (your rules).
As far as your pet coming to our home...we have over two acres with almost one being fenced. We have a 5 ft. chain-link fence so that your furbabies can see outside (which helps to prevent digging). They will be free to run the backyard if they prefer to be outdoors, or soak up the A/C on one of the many dog-beds, the bed, the sofas, the floors...they will have free-range.
I've been pet sitting long before DogVacay came along and have included a few photos of some of our past guests to show the range of size in the poochies that have been here. Sable, Sampson & Baby Girl (the 2 rotties), and Zach (the pom) are just a few of the furbabies I've had the pleasure of sitting. Sable was with me for almost an entire month as her Mama was preparing to move to the west coast of the U.S. As you can see from the photos, they were quite spoiled!
We do ask that if your pet has separation anxiety or any type of aggression that you let us know up front so that we are aware. My 4 "kids" get along with all animals and quite friendly. We do have 2 indoor cats (which we can separate if your pooch is not a cat lover). We do not have children so no worries with aggression towards children. Forrest is somewhat of a "dog whisperer" and has a way with getting dogs to walk properly on a leash. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it. So if you have a leash-puller, he will work really hard with them to get them to not do that and is usually a success within just a day or two!
Also, we have a flea-free home and yard and would like to keep it that way. Please let us know in advance if you have flea issues as we will be unable to care for your baby until they are on a flea preventative.
If you have any questions or concerns, please address them prior to making a meet-n-greet appointment.
We look forward to serving you and your "kids"!
