About Candace

4 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Hi! My name is Candace and my husband's name is Mike. We have been caring for our friend's and families' pets regularly for several years. We would love to have the opportunity to provide a home-away-from-home for your fur baby and/or help with one of our other services such as: pick up/drop off, walks around the neighborhood, etc. Whatever you are looking for, you can take comfort in knowing that your pup is safe, cared for, and enjoying a fun filled day of walks, treats (if allowed), plentiful toys, and a loving home!

The other member of the Davies' household is our Goldendoodle pup named Penny who is as sweet as can be! She is 4 years old and LOVES meeting and playing with pups of all ages, sizes, and breeds. She is sure to be a great companion to your pet while you are away!

Our home (3,000 sq ft) offers spacious rooms and spaces to play in. We have dog beds, extra leashes, grain-free treats, and many dog toys! When we are away, we will close doors to the bedrooms, but the rest of the house will be full reign for the doggies! We have a nice open backyard, however since it isn't fenced in, we would not have the pups play unsupervised or without a long leash. Our neighborhood also has gorgeous trails, a lake, and walking paths to take your pet out on long scenic walks! For night time sleeping, your pup is welcome to sleep in any room/bed of the house.

My husband and I both work M-Fri full time but have flexible work schedules. Mike is at home periodically throughout the day when not at the office. I'm typically at the office 8am-5pm with a stop home over the lunch hour to take your pup out for a walk and play time! With this schedule, we can ensure that your pup is never unattended longer than 4 hours at a time.

Some additional notes: We have experience with basic training, leash pullers, dietary demands, post-surgery recovery, and oral medication administration.

We look forward to the opportunity of taking care of your pet and know that they will have a fun-filled and pampered stay at The Barkley Retreat!

I have known Candace for years and she is a trusting individual who loves animals. She is always taking care of other friends animals. Candace has watched my cat and dog several times and she trains them and always has good suggestions.

Candace is a very trustworthy and caring person. This is obvious when you see her interact with all animals, not just her own. She always goes out of her way to make sure they are properly cared for and has even rescued kittens off the side of the road, nursed them and found them all loving homes!

I would trust her with my own pet and you shouldn't hesitate to as well.

Candace was awesome and our dog Milo had the best 'daycation!' When making the reservation, Candace responded very promptly and was always available to answer any questions we had. She made us feel very confident in leaving Milo in her care. By the second day of our pup's daycare, he was so excited to arrive and play with "Penny." Milo was well taken care of and exhausted from play time at the end of each day. Candace took care of our dog as if it were her own and I highly recommend her to watch your dog!
My Miniature Schnauzer went to spend the day with Candace and Penny. It was a tryout for a longer stay in January. Penny, Candace's labradoodle, and Freddie got along very well despite their size difference. Penny is a very sweet dog. I was impressed with Candace's professionalism and could tell she cared about Freddie. Her home is lovely in a very nice neighborhood. I feel totally comfortable with Freddie staying there for a longer period of time in January.
My dog was up and moving around and happy when I got there. Considering how much she hates new things and places that is quite an accomplishment by Candace. I would definitely trust her with the pooch again.
Candace gave updates, photos, or videos every day we were gone. Our dog came back very clean and happy.
Candace and Mike were the best! They took care of my 10 year old springer like he was their own. Marty was having ear problems and they made sure he had his meds every day, took him out on long walks which he loves, let him have the freedom to wander in their home and gave him the attention he needs (being an only dog he is a bit spoiled).
I didn't worry about him a bit while I was gone as they kept me up to date with a picture every couple of days with a note telling me how he was doing.
I'd highly recommend them to anyone that needs to board their dog.
