Please read: Because my dog is a senior she gets stressed with big active dogs:( I am unable to board dogs above 40 lbs who are young and high energy at this time. I adopted my first dog at 18 and have been hooked ever since! I have over 17 years of experience working with different breeds in Los Angeles rescues, and was foster coordinator/adoption counselor/urban training handler for German Shepherds at Westside German Shepherd Rescue. I am now a co-founder of a boutique LA rescue called Smiley Tails Animal Rescue. I have worked with over 300 (no joke) dogs and helped many get adopted; I have also fostered (in my home) German Shepherds, Chow chows, and Pitbulls (and one Chihuahua!) All have found great homes:) I have experience with old dogs (my favorite), handicapped and hip displasia dogs, dogs with medical needs, and am comfortable with dogs of all sizes. Two of my clients dogs have had cancer and I know how to administer medication (injectibles or oral). My husband and I work from home so the dogs would be under constant care unless we run errands or go out to dinner. About this sitter: I have worked with many dogs (mostly German Shepherds) in special training classes, and have a very good expertise with dog aggression. I can handle also special requests well since I have taken care of older dogs with hip displasia, deafness, blindness, and cancer. I love walking dogs and taking them to the park, or going on a hike to runyon with them, but can easily tell when they're tired and need a break, or if they want to walk more. I live with my boyfriend in a spacious two-story house with a fenced backyard, and we are always sitting someone's dog! We also have a spacious patio where dogs love to sit and fetch balls. I live 5 minutes away from the Bone Yard dog park (would not go without the owner's permission) and less than 10 minutes from the super huge Kenneth Hahn State Park. We are involved with rescuing dogs, and have pulled dogs from the shelters to find them homes. My boyfriend works from home, and I have a 9-5 job, but it's close enough that I come home for lunch, so the dogs are under constant care. Why I love dog sitting I have loved dogs ever since I was a young kid, but never had dogs growing up, although sometimes my parents would agree to sit a neighbor's dog. I started rescuing 7 years ago and have had two of my own dogs. I have experience with old dogs, puppies, large, and smaller breed dogs. I know how to administer medication and deal with medical problems such as hip displasia, deafness, and cancer. Recently I started my own rescue and have been fostering dogs from high kill shelters and finding them homes. I also volunteer at the Westside German Shepherd Rescue, working as an applicant screener and dog walker/handler.
