I know how hard it is to leave a beloved family member — your dog — at a kennel or “dog spa” while working or vacationing.
At Stone Oak Doggie Retreat, we are committed to providing you the kind of reassurance we always lacked when we left our babies to work or vacation. We will do our utmost to take special care of your little guy or gal, and make your absence as trauma free as possible.
Here is what you can expect:
- Our home is clean, smoke-free, and dog-friendly,
- Resident pets are Jenny and Herman, two sweet chihuahuas, and two gentle, dog-friendly Tabby cats, Chester and Wiggles.
- Our backyard is large, and enclosed with a masonry fence, designed to keep our small dogs, a.k.a. “escape artists” from getting out.
- Our subdivision is gated, and we live on a cul-de-sac.
- Our neighborhood is packed with well-qualified vets and a pet emergency hospital that is open 24/7. If something unexpected happens, help is around the corner — literally.
My name is Melissa. I come from a long line of dog lovers. My grandfather was obsessed with Bulldogs, and trained racing greyhounds. Dog obsession is in my blood!
I work out of my home, and am home most of the day, and, of course, at night. Aside from my mom/wife/daughter duties — i.e., running errands, carpooling, going out to dinner/lunch, shopping, or to the movies occasionally, your pet will spend 24/7 with me.
I have over 30 years experience caring for toy, small, and medium sized dogs including dachshunds, Lhasa Apsos, Jack Russell Terriers, Maltese, Chihuahuas, and of course, our favorite — “mutts.”
What you can expect:
Our goal is to do our utmost to make your pets happy and relaxed. Whatever you think will help your dog(s) deal with your absence, I will consider. For example:
Our dogs love to sleep with us in our king sized bed. If your baby wants to join us, no problem!
If hanging out on the sofa is your little one’s favorite thing — that’s okay too.
Does your puppy suffer from separation anxiety, or just need to be held all the time? If so, I will carry her/him around in a doggie sling strapped to my chest.
If your dog has quirks, I will do my best to accommodate. For instance, my chihuahua Jenny, loves to go for “walks”, but ironically, prefers not to walk and insists on being carried. If you doggie is similar, I will scoop her up and carry her — or we can break out our doggie stroller and go for a spin!
Rest assured, if your baby needs lots of ear scratches, back rubs, cuddles, and kisses — he/she will not be disappointed.
We will go for one walk a day in my neighborhood. (If a longer walk or more than one walk is needed, please let me know, and we can schedule that service as often as you like. We are very close to Panther Springs Park, and I can walk your little one as long as you like there! )
We will also have plenty of back yard play time.
I will send photos, text messages, and emails, as often as you like, keeping you apprised of your little ones daily activities. Want to Facetime with your dog? No problem. Skype? Not an issue. I have even been known to hold a phone up to a doggie’s little ear.
I require updated vaccination records prior to the stay — so please plan ahead. And I will provide you with copies of my pets’ records as well.
I am flexible - if you need to pick your pet up on a holiday — no problem. At 2:00 a.m.? No problem. I know what it is like to get home and have to wait for a kennel to open or allow me to enter to retrieve my precious ones! Ugh. And if you need to drop your dog off at an odd time, we can work it out. Just ask!
Please check out my other services. Long walks, baths, day care services are provided.
Again, our goal is help you and make your pet as relaxed and happy as possible until you return! Check my schedule and let’s set up a “meet and greet” soon!
