I own my historic home on the bluff, with a large (3 city lots) completely fenced-in yard, just a couple blocks from Metro State College in St Paul. My business has been quoted as being "the best lazy dog retreat", as my dogs Chief and Levi have such a laid back demeanor and do best with dogs that like to explore the yard, go for a long walk together, and then take a nap : ) But, we have our spirited playtime too, Chief may just choose to take a break and rest under the porch when he's had enough. If your dog needs a more peaceful and quiet home, due to being a rescue dog, being on the shy side, their overall demeanor, their age, an injury, etc., this is the place. I also take pride in providing the calm home environment that most of us feel pets prefer over large boarding facilities. I have been a pet sitter for 12 years for family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. I recently found out about this website and decided to try it out to meet more families with great dogs. I have been a teacher at St Paul Public schools for 23 years and work a split shift so I am home most of the day for walks and play time with your dog. All dogs are supervised while out in the yard. I take 2-3 walks daily around my neighborhood (if your dog enjoys or needs it) as I live between Swede Hollow Park and Indian Mounds Park.
I have volunteered at local animal humane societies and participate in the Walk for Animals.
My goal is to make sure your dog is comfortable and to put you at ease. Your dog will be having a fun vacation of their own with me! I am really looking forward to meeting you and your special dog!
** Also - if my calendar shows that I am full, feel free to send me a "general inquiry" as I might be able to take on another dog depending on the size and the personalities of all pups involved. If I can't take your pup, I can refer you to another trusted host. Thanks, Kari
"Kari and her dog Chief welcomed my dog Bella, into their home and treated her like part of their family. In fact, I was astounded that my often skittish little rescue dog came back with more confidence, and started to do things she was too afraid to do before. This is a sign that she was very well taken care of, engaged, and just all around happy. Bella had fun playing with Chief in Kari's awesome fenced-in yard, and she even slept alongside Chief during the night. Kari took the dogs on long walks and I found that I was more relaxed on my vacation this year because I knew Bella was in such caring and capable hands. I am happy to give Kari my highest recommendation for dog-boarding - it was just an awesome experience for me and my dog. Kari took the time to send the cutest photos of Bella and her dog so I was updated on how things were going, which I so appreciated. "
