About Julie

10 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
My husband and I live in a 2-bedroom condo in the South End of Boston. We are dog lovers, but I do a lot of traveling during the week for work, so we are waiting a few more years until we add a dog to the family. We both had dogs growing up--a golden retriever for me and a lab for Russ. We miss them dearly.

We are both incredibly active. When we've had dogs stay with us in the past, I typically take the dog on one very long hour to hour and a half walk in the morning as well as a few additionally walks during the day. I hardly ever leave dogs unattended, mostly because I can't handle sad puppy eyes. When we've taken care of our friend's dogs, we typically live our life with the dog. They'll come on all of my errands and just hang around with us. We have a car, so if we do anything outside of the city, the dog will join us. We love going to Blue Hills for the day or down to World's End in Hingham.

Julie is amazing!! I have know her for 10+ years and she has always been a avid dog lover. She frequently care for and walks my dogs. I have 4 large dogs, 2 Labrador Retrievers, 1 English Setter, and 1 Rottweiler. Julie easily handles all of these dogs and they all LOVE her. You can be sure to have full confidence that your animals are in great care with Julie.

Julie has always loved animals. Growing up, she wanted to ride horses, but insisted on taking care of the horse (cleaning his stall, feeding and brushing him) while also exercising him. With her own beloved dog, she was devoted. She would come home not to see family but to see the dog. While her brother was the dog's playmate and her mom was the dog's caregiver, Julie was the dog whisperer and could always figure out if there was a problem. And ticks!?!? Julie was a master at removing ticks from the dog's fur. I cannot recommend Julie more highly to be a part of DogVacay.

I had a bad experience with Julie and her husband. We had a short meet and greet the day before I was going to drop him off for the weekend. I got a weird/negative vibe from Julie but her husband seemed nice and warm so I let it go. The next day I dropped off Bentley and less than 3 hours into his stay, they called me saying that Bentley is peeing everywhere,is being aggressive, growling and pacing back and forth.
Just a little back story on Bentley... He is an English bulldog, super friendly and social. He goes to daycare 3 times a week and has a dogwalker twice a week. He is also a registered therapy dog. I am a doctor and go out of town quite often and he has never had any issues with people he has stayed with, at daycare or with his dogwalker. I have never seen Bentley growl at a human or an animal. He might lick you to death but he has never shown me any signs of aggressive behavior. So this was very strange and concerning to me. My flight was at 9 am the next day but there was no way I was going to leave him there. I picked him up, cancelled my flights, hotel stay, etc. I ended up losing a lot of money. The next day, Bentley had blood in his stools and I had to take him to the hospital. They said this may be due to "stress colitis" in which a dog is placed in a stressful situation and he starts shedding blood in his stool. I do not know what happened to Bentley in those few hours. This was a nightmare. I do not recommend Julie as a host.

Julie watched our pup Skogie on Christmas Eve. Quick communication, easy to meet up with for a meet and greet. We got several text updates and a photo or two during the 24 hour stay. Skogie seemed happy with Julie and her husband when we picked her up. Would happily book again :)
