I love dogs, I would have a little gang of them if I could. Maybe in the future- but for now we hope to meet lots of friends through Doggie Vacay! Whether it be for play dates or overnighters...we are up for both! I know how hard it is to leave your furry kid behind when you travel. That is the main reason I signed up to host doggies. I want someone I can trust and who is dependable with the personal touch offered with this service. I do take lots of pictures and give daily updates to you while you are away.
Bentley, my French Bulldog/Boston Terrier combo is very much a mix of the 2 breeds, he loves to spaz out and loves to be lazy. He does have an unsureness about some bigger dogs that he is overcoming, a little more every day thanks to the help of our great Dogvacay friends. But fur now we prefer the company of dogs who are smaller than him, 40lbs and under is ideal.
Located in North Williamsburg, we are a couple blocks from McGorlic and Cooper parks where we take walks everyday. We are also lucky to have an outdoor yard area for some fresh air hang time as well.
Our daily schedule is pretty simple. The dogs have as much backyard playtime in the morning after breakfast as they want so they get their potty time right before I have to leave for work. I am gone from 9-6pm most work days. New dogs are separated while I am gone, familiar dogs get to hang out with Bentley with free range of the house. I also have an extra large crate available for any pup who prefers to have their own space. I use a great dog walker occasionally and if your dog is used to being let out during the day that is an option for the additional fee of the dog walker. Upon returning home I take them right out to the backyard for an outside potty break. I feed them dinner and take off on a nice long(approx. 45 mins) walk around the parks in our neighborhood. We then come home to play with the bin of toys or a hang in the backyard, weather permitting and of course to cuddle! If this sounds like a good time and a great fit for your little buddy we'd love to meet you.
I am an advocate of all positive reinforcement dog training. A fan of Cesar Milan and his methods of energy and assertive calmness. I am always on the lookout to find new toys and doggie puzzles to keep Bentley entertained and challenged. If you have any recommendations please pass them on! I like to give healthy treats like carrots and apples in addition to an occasional bully stick.
I am very patient and understanding with these furry guys. Bentley definitely has his moments of knocking over the trash and carrying it all over the house. Finding my bag invaded because there were treats in there the previous day is not unusual either.. you know- he just wanted to make sure they were all accounted for.
I am very easy going and the furkids are welcome everywhere in the apartment, on the couch and bed, I love my cuddle time. But I definitely have rules and boundaries in place. I think that makes a happy dog too, which is my goal. Happy people and pups.
