I work from home (M-F) and have my a small pomeranian under 5 lbs who is 7 months old as of February 2015. My dog is extremely friendly and very well socialized.
I am interested in watching small dogs in my home (approx. 15 lbs or less give or take). I walk my own dog 2'x a day (morning and evening) and let him outside several times a day in between for a short stint right outside my door where there is lots of grass and trees - the property here is nicely landscaped and is great for dog walking.
I love to spoil my dog and the neighborhood dogs... I make many of my dog's dog treats so they are very healthy and tasty as everything is made from human grade food (liver, eggs, chicken, cheese, garbanzo bean flour, rice flour, oat flour, etc) - the dogs go crazy for them and I try my best to do all organic ingredients where I can.
All of my neighbors and friends seem to ask me to watch their dogs because they know how much I love them and care for them - they see how much their dogs love me and how I treat my own dog so they trust me. The neighborhood dogs always stop outside of my door when their owners are walking them - it's hilarious - they want the treats!
Your dog would be very well cared for and loved in my home. I am Christian woman who loves all of God's creatures - but especially the dogs! and I will easily pass any background check.
This is a free roaming house and I do own a small/medium size crate as well as large portable playpen for dogs if needed. If this is something you or your small dog prefer, you can certainly bring yours with you too. I do have a couple of extra dog beds and of course there is my bed with a dog ramp for the dogs to get up and down at their leisure. If your dog is used to sleeping in bed with you, it can sleep with us too... my dog sleeps with me.
I encourage a meet and greet before your dog stays with us if it's possible - this will provide them some familiarity as well as peace of mind for all involved.
When your dog comes to stay, please feel free to bring your dog’s food with instruction on how you like your dog fed, it's favorite food, toys, bed (although I have a couple of beds if needed) and leash – and if you want to bring an article of your clothing for your pet to be near, that's fine too! We want your baby to feel at home with us.
My requests are that your dog is house trained, has current vaccinations and is flea free. :)
I do own a cat... it is actually a young stray cat that I took in a couple of years ago when I lived in another place. My cat has been around MANY dogs and there has never been any issue. He really likes dogs but for the most part my cat keeps to himself in the back of my walk in closet during the day, we rarely see him and he also has his own cat tree that he lounges in and in the evening, the cat goes in and outside as he wishes. He just does his own thing and doesn't concern himself much with others although he loves to play with my little dog. My little dog terrorizes that cat and the cat just puts up with the dog biting him and everything else. of course they are playing but if the cat didn't like it, he wouldn't be hanging around the dog - so they are great friends. The cat is pretty much a non-issue unless you have a dog that just hates cats and the very sight of them.
