AT THIS TIME, WE ARE ONLY TAKING EXISTING CLIENTS OR THOSE WHO HAVE HAD A MEET AND GREET WITH US.
We have been dog vacay hosts in the suburbs and now in the city for over 3 years and it has been the greatest experience for us, our kids and our French bulldog, Ziggy. We all enjoy the extra energy in the house (even the added alerts to neighbors walking by or the occasional snoring through the night).
We recently made the move from the suburbs of MD to the heart of Northwest DC and welcome our existing and new clients! We have a fully fenced city yard so dogs who need to run and get lots of outdoor exercise might not be happy at our new house, but we take lots of walks through the neighborhood and over to the National Cathedral grounds. There are dog parks nearby, but I won't take guest dogs with me because I don't know who else might show up and I want to ensure your dog's safety at all times.
Our house is large and comfortable with a lovely enclosed sunporch for naps. There are no gates or off limits areas and dogs are welcome on the furniture (if you allow that at home). Pups can sleep where they are comfortable, and that usually means with our daughter unless they hog the covers or snore and she then kicks them out. We will use your crate if your dog prefers it, as many do for sleeping or just relaxing. We do have more stairs than before, so if mobility is a problem for your dog, we are not the right spot for you.
The house sits on a lovely street in the shadow of the National Cathedral. The interior is open, light filled and pet friendly. Dog toys have a place along with ballet shoes and bike paraphernalia.
I am home during the day, but I do run out for groceries, the kids, and a variety of errands to support a busy family. I'm rarely gone for more than 1-2 hours. If you need complete 24hr coverage that you would find at a kennel, we are not the right house for you.
I take our French bulldog rescue, Ziggy, for a regular morning and evening walk each day. Ziggy hasn't met anyone or any animal he doesn't want to play with, but he is genuinely respectful of older dogs who just want to relax.
We choose to have only one dog staying at a time. However, two dogs that live together are welcome. Our dog (and our kids) love small and large dogs alike as we owned Rhodesian Ridgebacks before Ziggy came into our lives. However, dogs must be fully house trained and neutered (sorry no young puppies under 1 year).
We offer all repeat clients their initial rate from the first booking. There is a discount for multiple dogs from the same house.
Your dog will join in our routine, be loved by our family, and return to you happy and healthy!
*Please note, if you are unable to pick up your dog by 10 am of the last day of the visit, you will be charged a $25 late pick-up rate. Pickups after 4pm will be charged $40.
*Holiday stay rates are increased by $10/night due to high demand.
