Pet care experience
Hello! I'm Rachelle and a long time dog lover. My husband, Peter, and I love truly believe that dogs are part of the family, so when they stay with us, we like to treat them as such: with lots of love and attention. We involve the dogs in our daily life, such as playing in the park, relaxing in the backyard, and even cuddling on the couch.

Extra food and water bowls, crates, dog beds, and bones are already here for your pet to use. We ask that you bring with you: food (with written feeding instructions), collar and leash, a favorite toy they can’t live without, and any medications. If boarding your dog here with us, we have a fenced in yard, where we like to enjoy our time in the evenings outside together. We do not leave dogs unattended out there without us being present. We don't use the yard as a place for potty breaks, but prefer to take dogs on walks for those. When multiple dogs are with us at the same time, we take care to make sure that if we leave the house without them, they are separated in different parts of the house. While they might get along when we're all together, I prefer playing it safe. We also feed the dogs separately so there's no resource guarding. If I am sitting in your home, I also make sure to care for your cat and/dog and your home like they're my own. I can follow your routine with your pet, and encourage a meet and greet beforehand so I can get to know that a little better.

We love all types of dogs - big or small, high or low energy. We're comfortable taking dogs with medical conditions such as those that require medications or hard of hearing, etc. Unfortunately we are unable to accept dogs with aggression issues (to humans or other dogs) or dogs that are not fully house trained. We often have dogs that overlap stays, so we cannot guarantee that your dog will be the only dog in the home. We try to match energy levels — ie if your dog is a high energy puppy, we wouldn't have them stay with a senior dog who prefers to be left alone.
A typical day
During their stay, we will try to follow your routines and training that you've already established with your dog. We love spending time outside (when it's not 0 degrees in the middle of winter), so we frequent Humboldt Park with lots of paths and space to walk around. We also enjoy spending time outside in our (small) yard. During the hot summer months, we sometimes set up a little dog pool for us all to cool off.

Availability
Both Peter and myself mostly work from home, but we do go into the office a couple days. While we'll be with your dog most of the day, we do leave for shorter lengths of time to run errands, etc, so we cannot guarantee 24/7 supervision. We also go on various lengths of walks at least 4 times per day, and can adjust as needed! During their stay, we will try to follow your routines and training that you've already established with your dog. A meet and greet is encouraged before the stay so we can get to know one another, meet your pup, and learn a little bit more about your dog and routine. We totally understand you’re giddy for your trip and make the exception to wake up super early to hit the road or catch that late night flight. But we aren’t traveling with you, and can’t make these exceptions daily for every person/pup. Therefore, we will only accept drop offs and pickups between 8am - 8pm.
