Shelby Auxier is amazing with animals. I was her roommate in college, and 5 years ago I rescued a dog to come live with us. This dog had clearly been abused by her previous family and she had a lot of issues. She would panic every time we left, she wouldn't respond to being petted or loved on, and she would keep us awake by whining all night long. Shelby was so incredibly patient with this dog as she adjusted to her new life with us. She would spend hours with the pup helping her realize that we were there to love her, not abuse her. I came home one day to find the dog nestled in Shelby's lap, which was an unbelievable improvement. This dog is now a delight to everyone she comes across thanks to Shelby's patience and care for her. Shelby also has a hedgehog who recently went blind. She is so caring to this high maintenance animal and so diligent about caring for him. He doesn't like any other human except for her. Shelby is wonderful with all animals, from blind hedgehogs to difficult pups. She'd be an absolutely terrific pet sitter!
