About Amy

15 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Have you been looking for someone to watch your dog? You don't really want to use the teenage neighbor up the street, and your family isn't jumping up & down offering. I've been there! It's actually what started me down this road of Professional Dog Sitting. I am not a teenager, nor someone who does this to earn a side income. I take what I do seriously, and this is my only job. I offer a place in my home, with my family and my dogs, for your dog to stay. We keep the number of dogs that we host to a minimum of 3 guests per night, with 3 daycare guests mixed in during the day. I am independently insured (this is in addition to what Dogvacay offers), and both myself and my husband are American Red Cross Pet First Aid Certified. Your dog will have a TON of fun with a lot of care given to their safety.

Health:
All dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations in order to be a member of our pack. Owners must submit written proof of current vaccinations provided by their vet. Please plan ahead as your vet may be closed on the day of drop off.
All dogs must be clean and in good health, and must NOT have fleas. Owners will certify that their dog is in good health (no coughing, vomiting, diarrhea 48 hours prior to arrival here) and has not been ill with a communicable condition in the last 30 days.
Any guests found to have fleas (inspection is done shortly after drop off) will be charged a $25.00 penalty fee, in addition to the cost of the bath and dip which will be added to the boarding bill.
New Clients:
We do not accept aggressive or un-socialized dogs. To screen for this, your dog MUST COMPLETE a free trial day of daycare, prior to boarding, so that we can evaluate his/her temperament. Dogs that show signs of aggressive behavior or other traits that could put the other dogs or humans at risk will not be admitted. If this happens during the trial daycare day, we will call you. You can either come pick up your dog immediately, or we can keep him/her separated from the pack until you arrive.

Great Experience
Amy and her family were wonderful hosts for our dog. It was the first time we left our dog since rescuing her and we were apprehensive about how she would react. I needn't have worried, Penny was treated like a member of their own family, even going so far as to sleep in her son's bed! (Just like at home.) She was able to romp and play and after getting the first pictures of her we no longer worried about how she was doing.

Thanks, Ginger had fun.
Ginger always has fun. Thank you.
Lainie had a great visit. I always have great confidence that she will get not only care, but love. That's a wonderful feeling.
Woof, woof.!! Ginger said she had so much fun with her play friends. She was excited to see us on our return, but she had a great time playing all day. She will look forward to her next play day. Thank you Amy.
Look awsum as always! Lucy loves to stay with Amy and be family!
Amy and her family were so friendly and loving to Nash. We were worried about leaving him for the first time, but her willingness to take on a puppy and the help she has there made us feel comfortable. She followed our requests and sent us updates, so when we picked up our pup he was in good spirits. We will definitely go back!

Always awsum time for Lucy whenever she stays at Amy's!!!!
We are so lucky to have found Amy. I was worried about leaving our pups for the first time but they fitted right in with little Hank and Scooby had a blast. I would recommend Amy and her family to anyone and we will certainly be back. I cannot thank her enough. Five stars from us :)

This was our first experience with both DogVacay and Amy. We held a meet and greet earlier in the week and we knew immediately that Amy would take very good care our our little girl, Charly! She took the time to answer all of our questions and spend the time with us that was needed for us to feel at ease.

During the overnight, Amy provided updates and pictures as she knew and understood our apprehension about leaving Charly with someone new.

We will definitely be using Amy in the future and are ecstatic that we found a wonderful alternative to boarding.

Thanks Amy (and family) for taking care of Charly!

Our experience with Amy B was great. Amy and her family are relaxed and welcoming. The environment is totally lovely; completely safe and pet friendly.
We had total piece of mind while we were away from Molly. Most of all, Molly was happy and calm when we returned.
This is by far the best experience we've ever had with leaving our pets. We would definitely trust Amy B in the future.

Amy was very knowledgeable about caring for an older dog and she went out of her way to make my dog's experience a good one. My dog is not easy to care for as she is very old now (17 years) and Amy was up for the challenge and handled it professionally and caringly. Thank you for taking such good care of her while we were away.

Amy is a great host! The house and yard are wonderful for the dogs to play in, her family is caring and attentive, and her dogs are friendly and welcoming. Fritz made many new best friends!
Katie has stayed with Amy and her family several times and feels right at home in fact she ran right for her door when we let her out of the car. I recommend Amy highly!
This is Katie's second stay with Amy and I highly recommend her. Katie always has a blast playing with Amy's children and running around in the yard.
Amy is great with Nikon and all her pups, she makes sure your time away from each other does not skip a beat. Pictures and updates Thank you Amy and Family
Amy was fabulous! I dropped off my lil' guy and he immediately felt at home. Amy is kind and thoughtful and treats each puppy as her own. I highly recommend her!
Amy took in our 8 month old Llhasa for 10 days and she treated him like her own. She sent us daily updates of our pup and was absolutely wonderful. He came back home to us with new habits. He eats his meals completely, he doesn't bark at every noise, and he's very well behaved. We couldn't ask for more. You won't be disappointed with Amy. Thank you!

Having Jake stay with Amy and her family was much better than boarding him at the Veterinarian which is what I used to do in the past and I would constantly worry about him. I didn't have to worry about Jake while he stayed at Amy's. He had other dogs to play with, Amy has a nice big fenced in back yard and she & her family treated Jake like a member of their family. I will definately use Amy again in the future. The other great thing is that Amy's home is easy to get to and close to all major highways & the airport.

Amy was great. Friendly yet professional. Accommodating with our schedule -- we dropped off late morning and picked up early evening. I think her children and her pet were nice company for our dog. And I'm sure our dog very much enjoyed the treat of being welcomed up on the couch there!

Katie, our miniature poodle, had a wonderful time with Amy and her family. With all the running and playing for three days, Katie was so tired she slept the whole way home (3 hours). We highly recommend Amy and will utilize her services the next time we are in Connecticut.

Sparky had a great time...lots of fun, playing and
chasing other doggies in the big back yard...
Sparky is our sweet 10 pound Maltese...
he is my baby, and Amy was careful to take great
care of him. She even made sure Sparky got his ear drops every day, for the slight ear infection the vet found just before we left to go on vacation.
We give Shelby's Canine Camp the highest rating.

5 stars! We were looking for a place to board our dog with some special needs. We can no longer use kennels so were specifically looking for a house with someone who would give our girl the attention she needs. Amy was that person! She and her family are great with the dogs. She goes above and beyond to ensure the dogs are well taken care of and loved. And Amy only takes 1-2 dogs besides her own. She is flexible with timing so it makes it easy for a traveling family. We would definitely recommend Shelby's House to any dog owner!

Amy and her family welcomed Copper into their home, and treated him as one of their own dogs. I was happy that he was there, and while we missed him, was able to keep up with his antics as Amy messaged us and sent photos regularly. I did wonder whether he'd want to come home!! I know Copper's looking forward to seeing his pals and Amy again.

I couldn't be happier -- and neither could Henry! Amy's family is so sweet and loving and gentle and playful, and I'm certain Henry got the best care possible. What a lucky doggie! I feel like I hit the jackpot with Shelby's House. Highly, highly recommended.
