About Shannon

20 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I'm a huge animal lover, especially dogs. I have an eight year old lab/pit mix named Layla who I rescued five years ago; she is spoiled and loved to pieces. Layla is very friendly and playful with dogs of all sizes and kids. Layla is an inside dog (she sleeps on my bed when ever she wants), but has free range in the back yard when I'm home. If you choose me to look after your dog they will be treated as part of the family with lots of love, playtime, and daily walks. I also send daily pictures of your pup to let you know how they are doing. I'm currently at home full-time and will be with your pup all day, unless of course I need to step out to run an errand. If so, I'm typically never gone longer than one hour or two. My only requirements are that your dog is current on their vaccinations/flea medication, doesn't have fleas, and is potty trained (unless they are a puppy).

About this sitter:
I enjoy spending time with my dog; going on hikes, walks, beaches, camping, and dog parks. I take Layla everywhere possible, including dog friendly restaurants and car rides. When I'm not with Layla I enjoy traveling, roadtrips, festivals, concerts, sporting events, snowboarding, relaxing, theater, movies, comedy clubs, and wine tasting.

Why I love dog sitting:
I have been a dog/animal lover all my life. I grew up with many animals, such as dogs, cats, horses, birds, chinchilla, and turtles. My mom always took in stray and/or injured animals and nursed them back to health. Some we kept, others were found loving homes.

About my yard:
Backyard is fully gated, with concrete and pool.

UPDATE: We have decided to get rid of our pool. It is still intact but the water has been drained. I do have a separate area in the backyard that is sectioned off from the pool that dogs can play in.

We had our shepherd stay with Shannon for a few days and he had a great time! I got regular photos of him via text which really helped calm my nerves. I've never had a dog stay with anyone aside from my parents, but Shannon was a great! We met before the stay, she has a nice area for the dogs to meet in her front yard, but since its blocked from the main road by bushes it worked well. She was great with Charlie! Will definitely ask her to keep him again!

We have used Shannon to pet sit for our two labs for a couple of years now. Her love for animals is obvious. In the past when one of our dogs wasn't feeling well and we were traveling out of state she gave us hourly updates and chatted with us in detail on how she should proceed while we were away. She always sends us lots of pictures and has even offered to come get them from us wen we were in a pinch with our travel plans. She really goes above and beyond for her clients. The peace of mind knowing that our fur babies are in good hands while traveling is priceless.

We had to attend a family wedding in Seattle and only had room to travel with one of our small dogs. We had to find someone to care for our little Penny ( 1 year old female chihuahua mix). Penny had just been spayed a few days before. We were very worried about finding a loving caregiver who was willing to deal with a puppy who was in need of recovery meds and dressing issues. I found Shannon and told her of the needs and length of time we would be gone. Shannon put me an ease over e mail that she would love to have Penny visit for the weekend! Our animals are our children and we spoil the heck out of them ( sleeping in our beds, hogging our couches, ect) we needed someone who was willing to continue this type of love while we were gone. We were very worried about leaving Penny with anyone. I met with Shannon a few days before the trip and found her to be responsible, caring and very much a lover of animals! She had a large dog at the home but this dog was friendly and gentle! Shannon assured me that Penny would be treated exactly as she was at our home while she was staying with her. I left that meeting feeling comfortable and confident that Penny would be smothered with love and attention by both Shannon and her pets. On the day I dropped Penny off she was welcomed into Shannon's home with love and belly rubs! Shannon made sure that I brought anything the Penny needed (both dietary, comfort and medical) and was very attentive when learning about what and when her medication needed to be given.
Other than a little bit of sad face when I was leaving I felt positive that Penny was going to have a fun little staycation with Shannon!
Through out the weekend Shannom sent many photos and videos of our Penny playing, napping, relaxing and having fun with her new extended family! We received text updates through out the trip setting our minds at ease that Penny was having a fun, safe stay! We were ONLY able to enjoy our family vacation because of Shannon and her ability to make us feel no worries at all about our baby girl!! Shannon was a life saver! When we returned from the trip Penny was happy to see us and was heathy, happy and had been taken better care of than I could have ever hoped! Penny truly was treated like she was part of Shannon's family, and for this Shannom will always be a part of our family! I can not say enough about how happy we were with the service that Shannon provided for us! I have and will continue to recomend Shannon to any pet owner who needs a sitter!

Poco had a great time at Shannon's. We would certainly use your again.
Shannon, did a wonderfully loving job of keeping our Milo for us over the Thanksgiving week-ends. Permanent stream of happy pictures playing with the other guest pups, lots of company and attention. We picked up a happy and well care for dog at the end of the week-end, with everything prepared and ready to go. This was a truly excellent experience for us, so we would highly recommend Shannon!

Shannon is the best! She was very accommodating with our last minute reservation as well as extending it an extra day. Cooper, our oversized Golden Retriever, was spoiled and loved. Shannon has a calm and gentle demeanor that Cooper gravitated to very naturally. He was anxious initially, because he's rarely away from family, but Shannon remained patient until he was settled in. The daily pictures and updates were appreciated and helped us to be comfortable to enjoy our vacation.
