About Dietrich

48 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I train service dogs for the disabled and provide walking and boarding services for dogs needing exercise, special care, and training. If you have a service, therapy, or otherwise well-trained dog, you do not want them learning bad habits while you are away -- because I specialize in initial and remedial training you'll protect your dogs learned behaviors when boarding with me. I also specialize in exercise for high energy dogs and dogs needing to shed some weight -- I'll walk 10-16 miles a day and take dogs along as capable and needed!

Your pet is my focus, not merely an extra duty during your pet's stay. I make sure your pet will get plenty of walks (typically 4 -5 per day weather conditions permitting) and exercise for the perfect stress-free stay.

I'm a professional dog trainer experienced with service dogs, large breeds, puppies, and special needs pets. I can train dogs in English, German, French, and Hebrew! Ex-military, pet CPR certified, first aid trained for poisoning, hot spots, wounds, broken nails, and other ailments. I've taken care of pups when they're not feeling well.

I can continue your work on behavior issues and help on obedience, barking issues, aggression, and other behaviors. If your dog is a service dog or highly trained dog, I will maintain their routine and discipline to keep the temperament consistent. From experience, it can take months to correct newly learned unwanted behaviors -- I'll guard against that.

I play, walk, run, feed, and give them freedom to roam in my home! My 1100 square foot home is setup for their visit.

Overnight is $60. Drop-off is after 8pm and pickup is by 10am the next morning. Additional time prior or after is not a problem - I will prepare a custom quote for you based on pro-rated day care rates in addition to the overnight.

Daycare for up to 10 hours is $60. For more than 10 hours, please message me for a custom quote.

24-hour rate is $100 per day. The first day is pro-rated to $60 if drop-off is after noon. The last day is pro-rated to $60 if pick-up is before noon.

A typical day with me involves walks along Commonwealth Avenue, the Esplanade or any of the many parks around Back Bay, playtime at home, and lots of interaction to keep your dog happy and relaxed.

A much better alternative to stressing your family pet in an unfamiliar neighborhood with unfamiliar smells, at a kennel with chlorine wiped spaces where overnight poop does not get cleaned until the morning, and where 1-on-1 playtime costs extra!

Glad to schedule a meet and greet with your pup or kitten! Find me on Instagram under "dietrichboston" or FaceBook under "Back Bay Paws" (

Repeat clients, hotel visitors to Boston, or new clients with any questions, please message me for a custom quote! Text messaging me to my phone # is the best way to reach me (I'll provide my #).

Quintessential professional provider !
Kind and considerate and helpful nature, knowledgable and experienced, comforting and active with his dog clientele.
Safety a priority.
Communication with me open and welcomed.
Definitely will use regularly, positive influence on my dog, Chief !
Dietrich did a great job with Jack, who can take a little bit of time warming up to people. We got pictures of his adventures around Boston every day and came back to a happy pup! Couldn't have asked for more.
Great experience. Dietrich was professional, friendly, and very flexible.
Dietrich was fantastic! We made a last minute trip to Boston and he was very accommodating. Dietrich picked up and dropped off our 2 dogs at our convenience and was very thorough in asking information about our dogs. We have a rescue dog who is very nervous around people so I wanted someone who had lots of experience with dogs and Dietrich was perfect. He sent us updates and photos throughout the day and put our minds at ease. Highly recommended if you need someone to care for your dogs!
This was my first DogVacay experience and it was superb. I couldn't have asked for a nicer, more communicative, or attentive dog sitter. Dietrich is truly an expert and kept me up to date with lots of adorable pictures from the many walks he took Eddie on. Thank you again!
Dietrich is an amazing caretaker and I highly recommend him. I came to Boston for work before heading off on vacation and was very worried about the care my dog, Suli, would receive in an unfamiliar city while I was at work. Once I met Dietrich and his amazing service dog, Mika, in person, I knew Suli would be in responsible, capable, and caring hands. Dietrich is very experienced in working with dogs; he treats them as the individuals that they are and also uniquely assesses each situation. My estimation of Dietrich grew with every interaction and beautiful photo he sent of Suli all around town. She came home to me each night happy, content, and tired out from the many miles they had walked. She wasn't nervous or clingy and clearly had been having a wonderful time. I think Suli's going to be bummed out tomorrow when we head out for vacation instead of Dietrich's house! Dietrich is polite, professional, and communicative, and it was a pleasure coordinating with him. He speaks of his other client dogs with enthusiasm and it is clear that each one receives the highest level of care and attention. Aside from when Suli is able to stay with her former foster mom, I have never felt as comfortable with someone else taking care of her as I did with Dietrich. Yes, his rates are a bit higher but the quality service he provides, and the accompanying peace of mind, is absolutely worth it.
I highly recommend Dietrich to watch anyones pooch. Dietrich kept us up-to-date on Rhune's daily activities (multiple walks, playing with dogs, sleeping, playing with Mr. Bill, etc.) and we were comforted knowing she was in such good hands. Thanks, Dietrich!
Leia had a blast! Dietrich sent tons of photos and updates and sent home a thoroughly pooped & happy puppy
2 enthusiastic paws up!
Dietrich was awesome with our frisky puppy. Our dog had a blast playing with all the other dogs Dietrich was dog-sitting over the holiday. We received lots of photos of Severus walking around Boston and exploring new places. We never worried about him for a second!
My wife and I had to go out of a town for a day. We wanted someone experienced to take care of our 11 week old puppy Dakota. Although Dietrich was slightly more expensive than some other available hosts, I believe every extra was worth it. Before the actual day, I called Dietrich and we talked over the phone to get to know each other better. It was easy to tell that he is an experienced trainer. He automatically brought up how he would try his best to keep Dakota away from other dogs. He also requested that we send him a sample of her daily schedule. Day of, we dropped off Dakota 6:30 am. Dietrich was half asleep, but still very polite and happy to see Dakota. Throughout the day, Dietrich brought Dakota from Back Bay to Newbury St to Boston Commons. He must have taken more than 20 photos. Dakota looked like she was having so much fun that I started getting afraid she'd never want to come home! Finally, my wife and I returned to Boston and picked up Dakota 10:30 pm at night. We could tell Dakota must have been a lot of work. Nevertheless, Dietrich was polite and filled us in on their day. If you're looking for an experienced and friendly trainer, and you want your dog to have a true vacation, you can't go wrong with Dietrich.
I needed a boarding for my 2 years-old dog and I wanted her to stay with someone who actually truly loves animals and cares for her the whole time.

Dietrich is definitively the one. His kindness, animal's love, empathy and experience are priceless. My dog stayed with him 7 days and everything went perfect. She seemed so happy in all the pictures he sent us ! I highly recommend Dietrich if you need someone for your pouch & you can be sure that I'll call him back next times. Thank you Dietrich for everything !
Dietrich did an amazing job taking care of Tex. He sent us pics throughout the weekend so we could see how much fun he was having. Tex can be anxious/stressed when we're away but he came back relaxed and happy. Highly recommend!
Never having left our little yorkie with anyone other than friends and family, and with her having some modest health issues, we were nervous about the whole prospect of leaving her with someone we didn't know. Dietrich put us immediately at ease at our meet and greet and it was obvious Tasto was going to be in very good hands with him and his astonishingly calm and collected service dog Mika! Dietrich texted regular pics and updates over the week which further set us at ease and all of which showed our dog having an obviously great time. She has a spring in her step now at home, having collected her last night and clearly was well-taken care of. Can't say enough good things and we will surely be calling Dietrich again!
Dietrich was a great host to our 4.5 month old Lily. He sent us many pictures and spent the majority of the time outside with her and his dog, Mika, who is a great role model for the pup. It was clear that Lily had a great time with Dietrich and we will certainly use his services again in the near future.
I'm not from Boston and I needed someone to take care of my new 10 week puppy, Picasso while I was in Boston with my family. I wanted someone that had a lot of time to spend with Picasso and Dietrich was an excellent choice. He treated Picasso like his own. Picasso had a wonderful time with Dietrich and made a lot of new friends. He send me a lot of pictures and I knew what was happening with Picasso 24/7. If I'm ever in Boston again and needed a dog sitter Dietrich is the one.
Dietrich was truly the best dogsitter we have ever used. Up until having Dietrich watch Kyra and Teague I never believed that a dogsitter could love/take care of my dogs as good as I could. However, Dietrich treated my dogs as his own and gave them 100% of his attention the entire time. We received professional quality pictures via text the entire 12 hours that he had them and that was the proof that Teague and Kyra were receiving exceptional care. You don't want to leave your dog with just anybody, you want someone that knows each breeds specific behavior and how to train and be sensitive to their needs, Dietrich is that person. He is just an overall genuine person with high integrity. Without reservation, I highly recommend him and if you can get him to watch your pets, you are truly the lucky one. We live in California, but, if we ever need long term care for our dogs we are flying to Boston to leave them with Dietrich.
