About Darya

17 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Hello there! I'm Darya and I live with my boyfriend on the fifth floor, in a cozy studio apartment nestled in a very dog friendly building (dog treats in the lobby). I live right by a park in the Old Ballard neighborhood full of other dogs and kids to sniff. I have spent almost all my life around a dog so I understand what it takes to care for a furry friend. I have been a proud host with DogVacay for two years and have spent time with almost every shape, size, age and personality you can think of. I understand each dog is different and I will be taking the time to get to know them so I can ensure they are as happy as possible during their stay.

I currently work from home where there are no kids and no other pets. Therefore, your dog will be able to have one on one attention with 24/7 supervision. Your little buddy can also be treated to a bath and walks around their own neighborhood. I'm excited to play around outside and relax with belly rubs inside. Of course I will be sure to send you a daily photo of your furry friend with a brief message letting you know how they are doing.

I understand you can't just choose anyone to care for your pet. Your pet is your constant companion, unwavering cheerleader and an important part of your family. But I promise in your absence, your dog will safe and cared for. Thank you for considering me and have a great day!

Patient and kind, Darya is talented in the art of dog whispering. You can trust that she knows how to care for your like it were her own. She is an expert in all things remotely canine and I don't think I know anyone else I'd trust with my furry companions! Dogs take to her almost immediately, and she knows how to get them exactly what they need, when they need it. She is compassionate with the animals she watches, and does everything in her power to make sure they are happy and stay healthy for your return. I honestly don't think you could pick anyone better for the job!

Darya was wonderful! Our dog, Denali, is blind. Darya took such fabulous care of Denali while we were gone and sent lovely updates. Denali came home healthy and happy.
Darya was great and super attentive to my dog. She has anxiety issues and Darya was super patient and loving! Great updates as well :)
My Boston terrier seemed to enjoy his stay with Darya and her partner. I like the fact that Darya works from home so is home all day. She sent me a note and photos almost every day -- quite a comfort even though I wasn't really worried about Hank.
Darya takes great care of my senior rescue pup. He came home from this stay happy and healthy, and Darya always goes above and beyond to make sure he's comfortable and well cared for. She was very flexible and accommodating for drop off and pick up times. I couldn't be happier with the quality of pet care Speck gets from her.
Darya was warm, friendly, responsive and most of all: accommodating for our little boy (who thinks he's a prince!). We appreciated the periodic photo and status updates. Having Porter stay with Darya put us at ease!
Everything was very easy to coordinate and I felt very comfortable leaving my dog with Darya.
Very sweet to both dogs and humans, takes great care of your pet while maintaining your peace of mind with updates! Would definitely recommend!
My husband and I left our dog Cosmo with Darya while we flew home for a week to get married. We received nearly-daily updates, complete with pictures! He seemed super cheerful when we got him back!

Sorry for the late review. I'm really bad at remembering these things.
I have a 65lb senior rescue dog who requires some special handling and is not used to spending much time alone (I work from home), so it can be difficult to find proper care for him when I go out of town. We've only done a meet & greet and a test boarding night so far, but I feel very fortunate to have found Darya. It's obvious she really cares about her clients (and their 2-legged people) and she makes every effort to ensure my dog feels safe and happy in her home. She's super responsive and kept me informed about how my dog was doing on his first night with her, which was really helpful for me.

I've already booked several more days/nights with Darya in advance and I'm very optimistic that my pup will be in good hands.
We are a retired couple that do a lot of traveling from Wisconsin with our Clancydog. We are pretty spontaneous and sometimes we want to do some things that Clancy can't join us on. He is a nervous rescue dog, and can't exercise like he used to, with elbow dysplasia, and Achilles heel issues..Many of the dog sitters we reviewed, had multiple dogs, on site.. With kids..and were wanting to be very active while dog sitting . We just wanted someone to hang out with Clancy while we did some sightseeing...since he can't do a lot of walking. DARYA understood our dilemma and was very accommodating, even changing her availability so we could have more time to explore Seattle! She wasn't stressed with our anxiousness or our anxious dog even though they didn't get to meet and greet since we were just passing through for a couple of days. She texted and sent a picture to help us feel reassured. Wish we could find more like her on our journeys!

Darya is lovely and obviously takes her responsibility very seriously. She was great in sending pics and reported honestly which was impressive and very much appreciated. Thanks so much!
Darya is a wonderful young lady totally dedicated to taking proper care of her wards, in our case Bogie the French Bulldog. We were very impressed with her and her guy Brian. Together they made him feel right at home and didn't mind his loud snoring at night! We will most certainly use Darya again when visiting Seattle and Bogie thinks she's pawsome!
Great experience like last time! Thanks again for your loving care of my pup! Happy to have booked you again.
Darya was wonderful to work with and Poppy came home so happy. She even jumped up to say "bye!" to Darya. I could tell she was comfortable with her and well taken care of. Definitely would recommend Darya's services and will be looking to use her in the future.
Darya was great! She gave Katana lots of attention and exercise and sent us texts and pictures to let us know how she was doing. Darya was very accommodating with drop off times (we picked Katana up around 11:30pm). We felt confident that Katana was in good hands, and will definitely have her stay with Darya again.
We are so thankful for Darya! Darya stayed with our two special needs pups and did an excellent job. Great communication, very professional and definitely had a magic touch with our dogs. We'll definitely be booking with Darya again!
We have an elderly, clingy, little dog who can be challenging at times. We worry about both the dog and the dogsitter when we go away -- that each will suffer in their own way ;-)

From the moment we met Darya, though, our worries were dispelled. She invited us to visit her place prior to deciding on a vacay to make sure that Phillip the Shih Tzu could check it out and settle down, which he did. She seemed to take in stride whatever comments I made about Phillip's possible behavior issues, and the fact that she works from home made us happy that Phillip wouldn't have to spend too much time alone (I work from home as well).

We appreciated the photo and note updates while we were gone; felt that Phillip was in good hands; and were able to enjoy a nice long vacation knowing that the dog was being well cared for. Phillip didn't seem overly excited to see us return, which we took to mean that he was just fine with Darya! Now that he's home, he seems well and we have every intention of sending him to Darya again should the need arise. Her communication and care were excellent!
Darya was fantastic. I asked her very last minute, and she was kind enough to help me out. She was very professional and timely in her response. I got pictures right away of the dog walks. I will use her again in a heart beat.
Darya was very pleasant and seemed to be a good host. She sent picture updates of my dog and told me they went on some extensive walks!

Unfortunately my dog was returned with a nasty GI infection, this can happen for a number of reasons and she may not be at fault, but it definitely spoiled some of the experience for me.
Darya took fantastic care of our pet child, Sam, while my husband and I were out of town. We'd highly recommend her. She has a great place located right next a park and doesn't have any resident dogs so it was perfect for our dog who is used to being the center of attention. We received daily updates with photos and were able to relax on our vacation knowing that Sam was being well cared for.
Left my 16 year old deaf and ailing dog with Darya for a week. Darya was able to handle her with no problem. Great sitter for a dog who needs their own quiet space!
This was our first time leaving our 8y/o husky mix with a stranger. We were going to have to board her at a kennel until dogvacay was recommended to us. I contacted 10+ sitters and Darya was the first to suggest a meet and greet before we left our dog with her which really put me at ease. For us our dog is really easy but for others she can be a problem around other dogs and has shown mild separation anxiety. So Darya was a perfect fit. Our dog was the only one there and Darya works from home so she was rarely left alone if at all. We got daily updates with pictures. Everything went smoothly. We'd recommend Darya to anyone and will use her again if we head out of town again.
Darya was great to work with and we were able to relax on our vacation knowing our dog was in good hands.
She was very accommodating to our drop-off/pick-up times and sent us daily updates with pictures of our pup. Since she works from home, I knew our dog would get constant attention/supervision which was a definite plus since we knew our dog would be anxious without us.
She seems very patient and laid-back with shy dogs (during the meet'n'greet she let my dog sniff around her apartment and didn't try to force the introduction, she let Cleo approach her when ready and didn't get in her face).
She understands that all dogs are different and communicate differently; she is very observant and I could tell that she took time to learn our dog's "language".
Darya was a great choice for our shy rescue dog. Cleo is used to having people around (she feels more comfortable the bigger "the pack"), so I think she was more at ease with Darya's regular presence.
We will be using her again if we ever take another vacation!
Our dog looked happy after his stay with Darya. We received daily updates of how he was doing and made me feel at ease.
During the hole experience Darya was great and keep good commendation from the day we just met her, reservation process and time of the stay of our dog.
Very good host. Sent us texts with images daily. Our dog came home happy and probably would prefer to stay with Darya.
Darya sent photos and updates and our dog was clean happy and ready to go when we picked him up. We delayed our pick up time and she was not hassled at all. Great experience.
