We are Paul and Nancy and we would love to look after your puppy pal while you are away. We care for them like you do -- one of the family! We know that changing routine and being away from you and home can be stressful on a pet, so we have developed a routine to integrate your four-legged friend into our family so s/he has a good experience with us and a joyful reunion with you. Our years of dog-minding experience, maturity and backgrounds mean that we have more than just common sense. And for even more peace of mind, we are certified in dog first aid.
We require a meet and greet before your vacation to introduce the dogs to each other and to our home, to gather information, and to understand what you and your dog is accustomed to. We may ask you to leave your pup with us briefly to begin to get to know them and help ready them for being away from you. At the bottom of this page are instructions on what to bring with you. Please note: we do not tour our main living area at this visit.
While you are away, we make your pup part of our family: S/he will get lots of love and attention, exercise and socialization with both people and other dogs. Paul is home all day to provide unlimited belly rubs, "atta boys" and noogies :~). They also benefit in many ways from playing with our pups, Patty and few other friendly guests. We stay in touch with regular updates and photos too. Regulars look forward to coming, and go home relaxed and happy. Parents report that after daycare visits their dogs are less destructive and needy and more confident and happier at home.
Unlike kennels, farms or the vet's office, your dog will have the run of the main floor of our large family home and yard and sleep where they are comfortable, even in our bedroom! Playtime is anytime: Whether s/he prefers playing fetch, chewing a toy, quietly cuddling on the couch, sniffing the "news," napping under a shady tree or playing with their new doggy pals, we help them find their happy place! Your pup will be kept busy with activities appropriate to their age, breed and temperament. Everything is supervised to ensure that good manners and safety are always reinforced.
We are located just next door to Toronto on the Scarborough border, minutes from Hwy 401 and Kingston Road, Rouge Beach, the Toronto Zoo, Glen Rouge Campground and on route to the Toronto airport.
The health of your dog is very important to us. Please bring to the meet and greet or email a copy of your recent vaccination records and ensure dog tags are attached to your pup's collar. Dogs must be neutered or spayed and have current flea and tick prevention. Dogs with special needs and puppies can be accommodated and a surcharge will apply. Please call or text us when you leave the house so we can be ready for you. If we're not outside when you arrive, call us from the drive.
We look forward to meeting you and your pup!
