My name is Sara, and I've been an animal lover since day 1! I currently own a Labradoodle, Gia, 12, and a Mix Breed, Bailey, who i s 9 months old. I also have a cat, Little Dude, who is 8. All extremely friendly animals.
I have been walking and caring for others dogs for a few years now, and just recently bought my own house and want to start giving more care out of my home. I have an acre, all fenced in, all grass for my back yard. The entrance into my yard is threw my back porch door, which normally I keep open for the dogs to come in and out as they please. If there is a sick dog here, I would keep the door closed, but dog's outside are never unsupervised, and can always come back inside when they are ready to. I have a very spacious house, all carpet besides the wood kitchen and bathrooms, which makes it easier for the older dogs, like mine, to get around. I have 2 spacious front yards as well, not fenced in, but if you prefer your dog to be walked on a leash, those areas would be where I would do that.
I have a lot of experience with sick animals. I'll give 2 examples. My dog Gia had breast cancer a year ago and her surgery took a huge toll on her. Her recovery time at home was a little over a month, During that time I distributed meds, cleaned her wounds, flushed her open wound, and cleaned her drain. She had a cone, but wouldn't keep it on no matter what the Vet and I tried, so I'd say supervision of a sick dog is also something I'm very good at! I also have experience with caring for sick cats as well. My older cat, Buddy (RIP), was very sick towards the end of his days. I had to help him with cleaning his infected sites and help feed him and give him water when he was sick.
For overnight stays, I usually bring all the animals upstairs with me, it's where my room is. There's a ton of space and an extra room up there as well. If you prefer your dog sleep in their crate, that is fine too.
In my care, animals are treated like people and are always given attention and loved, and are definitely never left alone! Dogs and cats are allowed wherever people are allowed in this house, so they always feel right at home.
