About Sally

25 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
1 ac. fenced play area. All sizes welcomed.

%%Now until January 1st of 2017, I will be unavailable to take any new/unknown pups. I am in the process of training up my own pups. I am excited to use my new training skills and who better to receive them then my own pups. I did list training as available, but I am still in the process of working out the logistics so all the pricing is subject to change. Thanks so much.%%

NON-Negotiable Items:

1. Meet & Greets are mandatory for all new guests. (Below for more information)
2. Shot records have to be current and in my hands before a stay. Letter of good health from a Vet is acceptable within 2 weeks of their first day of stay if not current on shot records. New shot records and Letters of good health are due at each new visit to keep them current if applicable.
3. I still only take one new guest (family) at a time. Multiple pups from the same household counts as one to me. This policy has really worked out for me and I would like to continue with it. The comfort of your pets are my first priority.
4. All new guests must schedule Step One of Basic Obedience Training, Heel with Automatic Sit and Sit at your side. I will make some exceptions regarding this to older pups, to be determined by me during Meet & Greet.
5. Food for the entirety of their stay. In the case that they run out I will be happy to purchase more of your pup's food, but will expect reimbursement upon pick up. I will not substitute another food type for your pup's as this usually causes upset stomach for them so please bring more rather than less. I am happy to measure the food out or you can individually portion it out.
6. I have to have a collar on them at all times. This allows me to direct your pup should they decide not to listen. (Crated pups are put up with no collars.) It can be loose and even slide off, but it has to be on. (No slip or prongs as they are for training only, not all day use.) Training collars will be provided by me.

All my MEET & GREETS are done outside during daylight hours only. Light rain will not stop me from holding one, but Stormy weather is cause for rescheduling. I do try to schedule around my more energetic guests, but last minute scheduling may mean more energy and pups. Please try to exercise your pups beforehand and let me know if they have any fellow doggie issues before I schedule with you. I will meet you and your pup out front and show you the doggie entrance gate. M&G’s give your pups and mine a chance to know each other before drop off. Also, it allows me to get a sampling of your pup's personality and discuss any health or attitude concerns with you. **Reminder** I will let you know if I have pups in residence that are not my own during our M&G setup, if this changes I will update you via DogVacay. Be prepared to answer you and your pups goals with me.

**I added security cameras to my home. It is mandated that I inform all my visitors of this. I will have you sign a notification regarding this before a stay.

**All pup updates can be found at . If you would require another update method or just more information please call or email me, I am happy to give a more individualized update on your pups stay.

**All pups, new and old, are taught to get along together peacefully here. I will allow a certain amount of playful roughhousing, but I do NOT allow all out fighting. This is to promote a stress free environment for all. I typically have a wide range group of pups, both small and large at all times, and they love it. I have had the comment dropped that I have a dog park for a backyard, but I like to think that my park is less stressful as I promote a feeling of safety for each.

**Re-evaluating a pup over time is a given during a stay. I do take notes so that I better remember a pup's personality for their next visit with me. However, if it has been a while since your pups last stay and there has been a change or event please let me know so that I can keep an eye out for any adjustments needed.
I do try to work with pups who have temperament issues, but I need to see continued improvement and a willingness to work with me drive from both the parents and the pups. I do reserve the right to turn down return visits. Luckily for me this is an extremely rare case and I will naturally inform parents of any issues that I have needed to address while they are in my care.

A typical non training day:
-Outside break for all upon waking. Breakfast.
-Outside again for a longer period. This allows pups to get the morning energy out and I like to stay outside until everyone is tired and done their business. (Pups in active training will be crated as I need all the energy for your pup's brain.)
-Rest time comes next. It typically does not last long. I do have toys for the pets to enjoy, but feel free to bring others. I cannot promise that they come back in one piece.
-Outside play and Inside resting is dependent on the pups energy levels. Naturally, weather and darkness may limit their desire to play outside. Walking is reserved for pets who have more energy or more anxiety than the rest. Typically, an additional training session will work. One or two mile walks are normal. I can get walks done in the early AM and after 3 PM when I have others home to help me out with those I leave behind.
-Dinner’s desired time is 5 PM. After dinner, hopefully, everyone is exhausted after one final playtime outside.
--Nighttime: Every pup has a choice. Crates are acceptable if you supply them and they do not cry. Smaller pups are allowed to stay on my bed, larger beside it. I have several pet beds, but feel free to supply their own if you would like. Blankets too, but they have been torn with play before so their return condition is not guaranteed. They do have a choice on which bedroom they would like to stay in and often this will change from one night to another. Point is, if they are comfortable, I get some sleep and so do they. (I do not allow free range access at night. All pups will be in a bedroom with a person or crated per their owners decision.)

TRAINING: Done throughout the day as running an active household dictates. Manners are a must. I train your dog to interact politely in my home. I encourage potty and poop on command. No jumping and/or stealing things from counters, tables or hands. No petting while pups are excited. Entering and exiting my home with permission only. Walks are done on and off Heel depending on their Let's Go. Playtime is play only not possession or ownership. All these things are taught in the order listed. I do not have fancy commands: Auto Sit, Heel, Sit at Side, Down at Side, Sit and Down in Motion, Sit and Down from the front, Come and lastly, Place. These are learned with verbal and hand signals. Additionally, my pups learn to only do a command when it is associated with a name. This is because I generally have 5 to 6 pups in my home. Your pup only Learn these commands here, to Incorporate them into your home will require Consistent and Continual upkeep on the owner's part. This is a lifestyle change. **I want your pup to be safe and welcome no matter where you choose to take them. If they learn to master my home, your friends will enjoy them visiting as well.**

Step One Training Program - 5 or more days scheduled with me is a must. Can be broken up with Overnight or DayCare possible. Your pup will learn Heel with Automatic Sit and Sit at Side. Incorporated in this is not pulling on a leash and better manners. Distractions will be introduced. All off leash training begins with on leash training.

As always my dogs had a blast at Sally's. I always feel comfortable leaving them with her and her family. They always come home happy and worn out from playing in Sally's wonderfully big back yard.
Many thanks to Sally as we were able to travel with complete confidence and worry free for the first time ever! Having used kennels in the past it always had the feel of a prison stay for my doggies, at Sally’s it was if they were visiting an Auntie. She has the warmth and instant bonding with the doggies that put us immediately at ease. The updates via photos and video on Facebook really made my mornings as I got up and right away checked to see what Sally posted and to get a peek at the children as I started my day. Additionally, not to be forgotten, the exercise area is a dream come true for my children(doggies) they had this enormous area to run play and interact, they will look forward to visiting again I am certain. I recommend Sally for your vacation needs without hesitation or reservation. Pawsome as they say!
Although Chelsea can't tell us about her stay, actions speak louder than words. She doesn't like it when we are away, but this time she greeted us calmly when we came to pick her up and didn't act like she wanted to get out of there ASAP. I am sure she loved the large back yard and playing with the other dogs.
My dog loves going to Sally's. He comes home tired and happy, all that I can ask for. And I'm thrilled that he gets to spend his nights in a dog pile instead of an impersonal kennel.
Great hosts who kept in excellent communication with us and gave fantastic updates including photos and videos of our dog. Lots of exercise and interaction with host dogs. Overall outstanding rating.
Our experience with Sally was fantastic. She took great care in providing for the special needs of our 10Y old JRT during our extended absence. Sally went out of her way to ensure our pet's comfort, well-being, and safety; she kept us informed, made great judgment calls in our absence, and has great pet intuition. Couldn't ask for anything more -- thank you Sally and DogVacay!
Sally and her family were awesome hosts! She took great care of our 3.5 month old mini australian shepherd, sending us regular updates and pictures, and even giving us a synopsis of her observations regarding his behavior and interactions with other dogs. We have a few other obligations remaining this summer and fall, and will definitely be booking with her again!
Sally was a great host with our two large dogs. Regular updates on how they were doing was much appreciated.
Sally & her family took great care of my dog, Jake.
I was pretty worried about leaving him with strangers... but since i'm new in the area and won't leave him at a kennel and don't have local family, i figured i'd give dog vacay a try.

We did a meet n greet first, and it was clear that Sally really loves dogs and knows how to care for them!
the introductions went smoothly with her 3 dogs.

she has a HUGE fenced back yard.. very awesome!

we left him with her last weekend, and we received multiple photos and text updates, which i really appreciated. everything went great. I would recommend Sally without reservation if you are traveling and can't take your dog with you... he'll have a safe, happy place to stay and it's no more expensive than a most kennels and soooo much better!
Our dogs stay with Sally now every time we go out of town. It's so nice to not have to worry about whether they're stressed like I know they would be if we ever had to use a kennel. It cracks me up that every time we bring them home from Sally's after a trip they're both totally exhausted for at least a full day afterwards. And I love that they have access to her huge backyard, something we don't have at our townhouse. Off-leash time to sniff and play in an environment that's less busy than a dog park is a great thing for them both.
Our dog had a great time with Sally. I'm so glad we could have him stay in such a friendly, welcoming home!
Previously only one of our dogs had stayed with Sally but this time we had both dogs stay with her. She sent us photos to update us on how they were doing, although I had no doubt they would be fine. It's so nice to know that my dogs are being given individual attention, they're comfortable, and they have access to a big back yard in addition to walks! You just can't get that from a boarding facility! We got the dogs home yesterday afternoon they were totally exhausted. We plan to continue using Sally every time we go out of town, as long as she isn't already fully booked!
I was impressed with how Sally and her husband handled their dogs meeting my dog at the meet and greet we'd set up. It was clear that they really understand dog behavior. I felt confident that our dog would be in good hands while we were out of town. Sally sent us one picture while we were away for 6 days; I'm sure if we would've asked for more frequent updates she would've given them to us.
My malamute, Raina, had an excellent stay at Sally's home. She was extremely calm and comfortable at pick up, which rarely happens, but is an excellent sign that she had a happy and comfortable experience. Sally and family seemed very knowledgeable and competent with all aspects of caring for dogs and also multiple dogs. The were genuine dog lovers and I know that Raina was loved while she was there.

My malamute got along fine with Sally's three dogs. Sally has a huge beautiful, fully, and solidly fenced back yard and a spacious and welcoming home. I would strongly recommend her and I most certainly will use her again.
Once again, our dog Beckham had a marvelous visit. He gets excited as soon as we turn down their street (this tells me he is looking forward to it).
Sally and her family are pawsome! Our dog gets excited whenever we pull down the street and he always comes back "new and improved"!
Both of our dogs had a great overnight stay with Sally and a couple other dogs that she was boarding the same night.
Our dog came back "new and improved" after his visit with Sally and her family (and furry family). Sally has a lovely presence about her. She is gentle with the dogs in her care, but she also encourages them to learn new things. I, the owner, found myself lingering at the pick-up just to understand all the wonderful things she had taught him. Sally's family is very sweet and her kids love dogs, so our dog got LOTS of attention. Her home is beautiful - set on a large lot with a fenced in yard. She sent us updates throughout our trip and photos. Selfishly, I worry that she will become so popular that she'll be booked when we need her again (we go back again this weekend), but I also feel it is right for her to have a SPECTACULAR review for what was a wonderful experience for all of us.
Sally has an excellent demeanor with the dogs and puts you at ease that your pet will be in good hands. Ivy is a high energy dog and the big backyard was perfect.
Sally was extremely accommodating; we met with her for a small meet-and-greet before we went on vacation, and we were impressed with how she handled her own dogs, as well as ours. She has a large, fenced back yard for plenty of exercise, as well as a large house. Both of our dogs told us that they had a great time, and would love to go back.
Sally is obviously used to working with dogs and enjoys it. She took her time introducing my Bella to her three and within minutes they were acquainted. She has a lovely large high fenced yard in which the dogs can play. She posted pictures of Bella at play and during walks while I was away. I would highly recommend Sally for your dogs vacay! I felt totally at ease leaving my Bella there and will definitely have Sally watch her again. Additionally, Sally was flexible with pick up times.
