Hello! We are Lindsay (human) & Ernie (dog).
We are committed to providing fun, safe, & loving care to your dog(s) only.
I work from home, allowing me to spend lots of time with your dog.
I host dogs from one family at a time, so you don't have to worry about
compatibility with other dogs.
I focus on giving affection, exercise, and calm-assertive leadership.
*Because Ernie is a senior dog, I am hosting medium-energy and low-energy dogs. High-energy dogs are no longer a match for us.
a large, fully fenced backyard
dog-friendly floors and furniture
daily walks, runs, or dog park adventures
a smoke-free environment
flexible drop-off and pick-up times
*The calendar to the right displays my availability.
*When sending a reservation request please indicate your preferred pick-up and drop-off times so that I can best accommodate you. If you are unable to be specific (i.e. 9 a.m.) then please indicate if you would like a "morning" or "evening" pick-up / drop-off time.
2 miles from 3 different dog parks
4 miles from Portland International Airport
I began boarding dogs as a way to learn about different breeds at a time when I was considering adopting a second dog. Years later, my dog Ernie and I are still having a blast with our revolving crew of dog buddies. I love caring for dogs because they teach me to be in the moment. I am reminded to take joy in the simple things, like eating, sleeping, and playing. Dogs are inspiring!
I am always excited about hosting dogs that are adventurous. Ernie and I like to get out and explore with our guests. Dog parks, swims in the river, and day hikes are our favorite activities.
As a middle-aged dog, Ernie is slowing down a bit and has also been enjoying dogs that like to snooze or tour the neighborhood at a snail's pace, so senior dogs are a hit here as well.
A bonus is my willingness to provide consistency for your dog(s) - I am happy to follow your usual schedule and will take care to support your approach to training.
*I require a pet meet to gauge dog compatibility.
About this sitter:
I have lived in Portland for over 10 years. During this time I have worked as a wildlife sanctuary intern, waitress, nanny, caregiver with individuals with developmental disabilities, preschool teacher, and artist. I currently work part-time from home as a data collector in the medical/statistics field. In my free time I like to explore the wonderful natural areas that surround Portland. I also enjoy organic gardening, long distance running, cooking, and canoeing.
About My Dog:
Ernie is a happy, healthy Schnauzer / Lab mix. I adopted him as a puppy from the Oregon Humane Society. He is a big boy, but a gentle soul, and has always taken a passive roll with other dogs.
With high-energy dogs Ernie is playful.
With shy dogs Ernie is sweet and curious but never hyper or pushy.
Even small dogs are at-ease with him because he is not rough or intimidating.
To sum it up, Ernie is the perfect gentleman!
