I am looking for a way to pursue my passion for animals while attending UBCO. I have prior experience working as a Kennel attendant, my daily duties included, cuddling, playing, and over seeing the comfort of the animal. I was expected to make sure they had a safe and sanitary place to play in a group setting. However as much as I loved it, I found I prefer a more one on one relationship with the dogs and due to space restrictions this just wasn't possible in that setting. Being able to interact with all sorts of dogs will be an extremely beneficial experience for me and my future goals. After I finish my degree I have aspirations to go California to get my masters in canine animal behaviour and hopefully begin training guide dogs, service dogs, and rehabilitate abused animals. My home is located in a quiet neighbourhood and with in walking distance to a few dog parks, I am also with in 15 minute driving distance from many scenic walking/hiking routes. I have a medium sized yard that has fences up to 5 ft high, however there is a gap close to where the gate is, so your dog would NOT be left unattended outside. I would prefer Boarding to be done on the weekends because committing the majority of my days to your dogs would be much easier, as I am a student during the week. Your dog must be cat friendly as I have an elderly cat, she spends most of her days sleeping on my bed and I would like to avoid causing her unnecessary stress of a cat aggressive dog. A typical day spent with a relatively high energy dog would include: - 3 walks/ hikes, totalling about 3-4 hrs of stress reducing exercise -As many pee/potty breaks as needed -Meal times designated by you -Cuddle time/ Play time - or Daytime excursion ( snow shoeing, day at the beach, hike that is longer then an hour,etc.) A typical day spent with a medium energy dog would include: - 2 walks, totalling about 2-3 hrs of stress reducing exercise -As many pee/potty breaks as needed -Meal times designated by you -Cuddle time/ Play time - or Daytime excursion ( snow shoeing, day at the beach, hike that is longer then an hour,etc.) A typical day spent with a low energy dog would include: -2 walks, totalling 1-2 hrs -As many pee/potty breaks as needed -Meal times designated by you - Lots of Cuddle time/ Play time I want whats best for your dog and am willing to go above and beyond to make sure that they are having a safe and happy time. I am also willing to accommodate puppies and Elderly dogs who don't have the same physical capabilities.Their food Must be provided by you, I don't have dogs so I don't have any dog food on hand. Daycare would go from 7am-4:00pm on Tuesdays, and Thursdays. 9am-5pm Saturday-Sunday. If these times don't work for you, something else can be arranged (possible extra charge). Boarding would be open on 5pm Friday and Saturday nights with checkout (pick up) time being 11am the next morning, if you don't come within that time period I will assume that you would like your dog to have another day at daycare. I would really like the communication to be open so that I know the best way to take care of your dog!
