I am an empty-nester who lives alone with two dogs of my own. I love dogs and I love this gig because I get to know many different breeds of dogs besides my own! My home is second only to yours for your furry family member! Bring her own bed/crate/food or favorite toys to have a piece of home during their visit.
Although I have boarded many dogs, I am unable to accept males due to the extreme possessiveness of my male dog. There are NO issues with bringing females into my home, although a meet and greet is a good idea for all parties involved prior to a stay.
I am a retired government employee but now work part time (4 hour shifts) for Home Instead Senior Care. I am usually home by 2pm after my shifts. This means I am available to care for your fur baby anytime starting at 2pm (earlier if you are OK with me being absent for 5 hours).
Both of my fur babies are rescues and they could not be more different!
Mickey is a Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix who loves to explore the back yard.
Honey is a Chihuahua who is mostly afraid of her own shadow but very sweet to humans and other dogs. Mickey is house trained, but Honey must be secured in her own crate at night or in my absence because she will have accidents in the house and chews on things she shouldn't (classic separation anxiety).
I provide two meals a day for my fur babies by dividing their daily nutritional needs in half. Each baby gets their own dish to avoid problems. I prefer that you bring your dog's food with them. During nice weather, meals are eaten outside followed by 1-2 hours of outside time to allow for free-play and potty. I love to play fetch with dogs who also enjoy it. My dogs have been trained that furniture is for people, not dogs. However, I will be flexible for visiting dogs if they are allowed on furniture at home. My babies still know that it is not OK for them to get on the furniture.
If your fur baby is not house trained, he or she will be crated when I am not home. Otherwise, you may bring their bed from home to use here.
