“Why does watching a dog be a dog fill one with happiness?”
—Jonathan Safran Foer
Hello and welcome to Pups of Peabody’s DogVacay Page. My name is Leigh and I appreciate your interest in my in-home, kennel-free dog care. I am available for one-time, occasional, and regular dog daycare & boarding with add-on services like pick up / drop off, bathing, and grooming. Photo updates are sent to pet parents daily via text or email. If you are traveling, working, busy, sick, or have a dog needs extra attention for any reason I am here to help! I'm happy to care for dogs who are working on house training and don't mind accidents- my easily accessible backyard helps me figure out your dog's schedule and my hardwood floors are very forgiving. Rambunctious puppies are welcome and get very tired out with our busy schedule. If your dog requires medication, has separation anxiety, or needs an extra watchful eye I'm still delighted to have them here. I have spent my whole life owning and caring for puppies and dogs. I have worked with therapy dogs and helped train a seeing-eye dog. My husband and son are two more lifelong dog lovers. Even our cat Cooper is incredibly dog friendly and proud of it. The resident dog is Olive (born April 2016) a well-socialized, spoiled, and VERY friendly black lab mix. She is always thrilled to see a new friend coming her way and has been sharing her space with lots of other dogs since she came home at 3 months old.
Our single family home is outfitted for a dog’s comfort and safety- We spend our days in a spacious living room stocked with all kinds of toys where dogs ARE allowed on the couches. The door is equipped with a large dog door that takes pups to the locked & fenced in backyard. There they can run & play on the deck or patio space, explore the shed or greenhouse, dig as much as they like in the dirt, hunt for sticks and buried dog toys, and play soccer with my son and me. Multiple locking pet gates placed in our home help to ensure that risky or dangerous items are kept away from dogs and even the greatest escape artist won’t get the chance to get out. Every morning we go for a one mile, on leash walk around my neighborhood. Every afternoon we take a two-mile walk through woods behind my neighborhood (off leash with owner’s permission and appropriate dog behavior). Overnight guests are brought upstairs where they are welcome to sleep wherever they are comfortable in my room or the hallway just outside. If they don’t settle themselves in with Olive and I on my bed (we are happy to share) they can take up the vacant twin bed, any of the available dog beds or whatever works for them.
I want your dog to be content no matter how long they are my guest. That is why I promise to provide them with plenty of love, attention, and fun times while you are away. Whether you are occupied for an afternoon or a week your pup can make themselves at home with me.
REQUIREMENTS: Your dog must be child-friendly, non-aggressive towards cats (young pups who are unexposed are welcome), up-to-date on vaccines & rabies vaccination, treated with flea & tick preventative, dogs over 1 year of age must be spayed or neutered.
