Hi Friends!! My name is Fazeela and I live in a cozy one-bedroom apartment with my husband Brett, and our pack of Chow Chows named Tesla and Tiberius. Tesla, a female, is 4 years old and Tiberius, a male, is 3 years old. They are so friendly and have so much fun that we call them the TnT Party Factory!! To be quite honest, they are more popular than we are in our neighborhood. Two years ago, we added a kitten to our little family named Hazel. She is a 2 1/2 year old ticked Maine Coon. She has lived with dogs her entire life, is super friendly and loves meeting new pups as much as our dogs do. To check out some of their adventures, follow the pups on Instagram @ TnTpartyfactory.
FYI: We were asked by Dogvacay to film a news segment for MSNBC's Your Business!!!! Check it out here: http://on.msnbc.com/1SqjTI9
Brett is New Hope Liaison at the Animal Care Center of NYC. He finds rescues willing to care for dogs on the shelter's kill list. He is also training our youngest dog to be a licensed therapy dog at local children and VA medical centers on the weekends. I am completing a PsyD in Clinical Psychology and live in NH two days a week. I am a volunteer Crisis Counselor/Advocate for Beth Israel's Sexual Assault & Intimate Partner Violence program and we both conduct home visits for the Chow Chow Rescue of Central New York. We are also active members of Ecohealth Alliance's Young Professional Council.
We live in Lefferts Garden, directly across the street from Prospect Park. It is a quiet escape within the city with access to untouched nature. Prospect Park is a dog’s paradise with off-leash hours in three areas, the Nethermead, Longmeadow and Peninsula.
For Tesla & Tiberius a typical day begins at 7:30am with morning cuddles. Next the dogs go on a 45-minute walk around the Lefrak Center and Lakeside section of the park (On occasion, the pups are joined by Hazel). Breakfast is served upon return to the Lair. Most days they get a mix of Natural Balance brand wet and dry food but sometimes the pups get a treat of homemade food. After eating each dog gets a 20-minute grooming session. Their second walk of the day occurs anytime between 5:30-7pm. During this walk we take the dogs to an off-leash meet up in the Nethermead. Even though these hours aren't officially "off-leash" the parks dept. and police allow this group to meet-up daily. We haven't had a single problem in the 4 years we have been bringing Tesla there. There are usually 30-35 dogs heading in and out from 5:00 to 7:30pm. Dinner is served upon returning to the apt. Tesla and Tiberius's last walk occurs after 11pm and lasts approx. 10-20 minutes. If necessary the dogs get another 20 minute grooming session before bed. The day ends with more cuddles before we attempt to kick them out of our bed. It doesn’t always work and we usually wake up to find at least one sleeping at our feet.
We tend to be homebodies on the weekend. We just love our neighborhood so much! We have settled in quite happily over the last 7 years. On the weekends the first walk of the day usually lasts about 1-2 hours. We take the time to explore new trails and allow the dogs to take a quick dip in the dog beach. We love giving Tesla and Tiberius new experiences so one weekend a month we do something for them. Trips have included fishing, camping, going to the beach, hiking and bat detecting. They really are the most country city dogs we know! We have had the pleasure of taking some of the pups we sit with us on these adventures in the past!!!
Brett and I make all of our dog treats. We make our own jerky, crisps, cookies, biscuits, meatballs, bars, and even frozen yogurt for our pups. We try to use ingredients from the farmers market and use a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. With your permission, we will always have treats made available for your pup and adhere to any dietary restrictions you may have. If you chose to stay with us, I want to assure you that your pup will be treated as one of our own. Brett and I have been dog owners for over 20 years and possess an array of skills to make the separation from your pet bearable and even pleasant. Our youngest puppy broke his leg a few summers ago. As a result, we have experience dealing with emergency situations as they may arise, advocating for and providing the necessary rehabilitation for an injured or ill pet.
Bookings for 2 or more dogs start at $65 a night. Rates depend on the personality of the dogs and required additional care. Rates for dogs with special needs and young puppies less than 6 months old start at $60. Daycare rates are $35 for 5-6 hours and $50 for 8 hours or more. If you live within 30 minutes of the park, we offer in home visits for both dogs ($45) and cats ($15-20). Home visits last approx. 30 minutes and include all walks for the day, feeding and cuddle time.
Brett and I absolutely love dogs!!! Please do not hesitate to ask questions. We are very flexible and open to customizing your stay. We are very dedicated to caring for our pets and hope you can see your pup will be in great hands. We will always be available to chat and will send updates daily or at your request.
