About Kristin

6 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
When you are on vacation, you deserve peace of mind for your furry family members as well. Why not schedule a vacation for your WHOLE family. Traveling together is certainly the ideal situation, but there are many reasons that this may not be feasible. This us where the Puppy Palace in the Pines comes in! Your furry friend will be spoiled, pampered, and treated like a member of our family. The Puppy Palace sits on 3 private acres with walking trails in the greater, more natural setting of the property. We also have a large, fenced-in area for less structured times. This area does include a pool, which can be blocked off but is also available for swimming if you and your friend approve of and enjoy swimming. During the cooler months, the pool is securely covered. We have had many happy visitors, from Rottweilers to Cockapoos. Our philosophy is to keep routines similar to daily life to avoid confusion and unnesscary stress. If you crate, we will as well. If your furry family members eats at specific times, we will keep to that schedule. Of course, your friend can be confused at first, so a bit of spoiling such as extra playtime and relaxing walks are used to ease any homesickness that could arise. Our family does consist, at the moment, of 5 cats (we have 3 and are fostering 2) but we have installed cat doors that allow the cats access to closed rooms and the basement in the case of aggression or stress due to mingling.
Although we are, naturally, very fond of our Puppy Palace in the Pines, we also understand that some families prefer to keep their furry friends at their own home. We had one fur family member who experienced extreme stress when taken from the home. In those cases, we can day-sit at your home and, if within a short distance to our home, we can arrange for overnight stays at your home.
Our home includes 3 adults and one 14 year old who adores all animals. We have dealt with special diets, oral medication, and the administration of insulin.
Your furry friend will enjoy his or her stay so much that she almost may not want to leave. Almost!

Kristin is a kind and caring person who truly loves animals. She treats her own pets as members of her family.. She has a large home and a fenced back yard that can accommodate the needs of visiting pets.

I have two huge Rottweilers and one tiny toy poodle. I admit it is a strange combination. Kristin made the dogs feel right at home, both in the yard and the house. She put us at ease as well. Our older children always cared for the dogs but they have their own busy lives now. This was the first time we left the trio with a sitter. The Rottweilers have been highly trained but their weakness is small animals. I was honestly afraid they would eat her cats. She feeds birds, squirrels, deer, and chipmunks. I was worried about them, too. But Kristin was not concerned. She has an ingenious setup of tunnels in the basement that allow her cats to get from room to room without interaction with aggressive dogs. The Rottweilers are high energy. They swam, ran, and went on nature walks each day. The poodle is older and just enjoys snuggle time. She enjoyed leisurely walk but is not a swimmer. The Rottweilers have a special (spoiled) diet including rotisserie chicken, which Kristin maintained during our 10 day vacation. The poodle needs to eat separately so her sisters don't eat her food, and this was easily handled as well. Nothing seemed to be a problem. The poodle enjoys pampering and had two baths while we were gone. All 3 slept comfotably, the two big doggies on the beds that we brought and the poodle with Kristin, just like at home, but I think she would have found different accommodations if she wasn't feeling attached. All in all, we were happy to get texts and pictures of our babies enjoying their Palace in the Pines while we were enjoying our human pleasures. Frankly, we were happy that the poodle seemed well-adjusted and that nobody, from kitty to chipmunk got eaten. All 3 were happy to see us when we returned, but the next time we travel, I know where to send our fur babies. It's kind of like leaving the kids with grandma (without the age part--Kristin is not your grandma's age!)--you know the kids are safe and happy, you know that everything will be handled efficiently, you know the kids will be happy when you come home but they will also be happy to go back for a visit. Oh, and the Puppy Palace in the Pines is lovely. The surroundings are serene. If they open it to humans, we're in! Thanks for making our vacation even more special and relaxing!

We were pleased with our experience and sitter. Our dog was well taken care of and did not develop any new (bad) habits. We received daily updates on how and what our dog was doing. Kristin and her family seemed very excited to have our dog for the week. She was accomodating to meet us before we dropped our pet off to her. We would have kristin sitter our dog again and use dogvacy again as well.
