About Amy

I'm Amy, and people have trusted me to care for their pets since I was about 10 yrs old, and even majored in animal science & zoology in college. Animals in my care also benefit from my training in canine (and equine) massage, and a reiki level II certification. I believe clear, consistent and positive training with loving leadership goes a long way to enjoying our dogs in lots of different situations, and tapping in to their potential too. A tired dog is a good dog, and a trained dog with their drives fulfilled is one happy pup!

My intent is to always create and maintain a harmonious pack with the animals in my care, and we implement a combination of dog training and dog psychology. I will also always inform you of what other types of dogs will be boarding here, so that we can decide if this is the right place for them at that time. (Sometimes I will block availability when our pack seems full, but I would still be available to answer messages).

Your pup can stay with us for an indoor/outdoor, long day of play (up to 12 hrs!) for only $25 - so much better than a crate all day! OR, for only $15 more, they can stay with us overnight too (up to 24 hrs). There are also opportunities for weekly rates and longer term rates, just ask!

We have a comfortable, non-smoking home, and there is a nice sunny indoor napping spot for the dogs with their own blankets, and they are also welcome on the sofa. Your dog will be welcome to sleep in a bed with the other people and dogs (if they can stand the snoring that ours do!). In cold wintery weather, the pups also enjoy napping in front of the cozy fireplace - what a life! We don't use a crate these days, but if your pup does, please provide it, and I'll follow your instructions to keep your pup/s in a similar routine as much as possible to maintain their well being and sense of stability. Our house is a split-level style, and so if a pack member needs quiet time, that can be provided too.

We have a fenced yard, very convenient for anytime bathroom breaks and unlimited supervised play, and we live in a wonderful place with plentiful walking paths in wooded areas. Plus, it's not a far drive from our house to the dog parks and dog beach, and if you approve, your pup might get a field trip or two. At our house, your dog will enjoy unlimited fun in a contained yard area, we have tug and fetch toys, and if they are good on leash, they'll get three walks or more each day, be included in household training exercises, and all the belly rubs and affection they can stand.

Your fur baby will have plenty of companionship, exercise and nurturing at our place. We are always home - we even home school, and I schedule errands and off site appointments around our boarder guests, so that they get maximum attention and supervision. My teenage son has been around dogs since he was 3 yrs, and he comes to the dog park with us, he is also trained for bike tow running with Lexy, and is used to being an active helper and photographer with pups that we foster or vacay. He knows how to burp dogs, go figure! We are definitely animal advocates all around, and will treat your loved one/s as if they are our own.

I am a worry wart when it comes to leaving my beloved pup with others, which makes me a diligent and caring host, and I will send you pics and updates so you get a glimpse of the fun goings on, and you can have peace of mind - Priceless!

Our girl Lexy is a submissive, and gets along with all dogs, different breeds, ages, sizes (but please no dominant/aggressives). I have seen her crawl on her belly to connect face to face with a teacup yorkie, and play with so many varieties of dogs, from bassett hounds to mastiffs and everything in between. Lexy is such a good ambassador, and her image is being used in the Worthington Dog Park brochure, what a good girl, and great all-around dog. I'm so proud of her, she has learned so much, wearing her backpack on long walks, bike tow running, she has excellent canine social behaviors, and she is a good traveler too. And, she is a very patient big sister to Mabel, that might make her a saint. :)

Our newest addition is Mabel, she is barely 1 year old, and has brought goofball puppy energy back to our house. Mabel is still all puppy, a little socially awkward, still learning cues, but sees all other beings as potential playmates, and loves to chase, wrestle, tackle, tug, chew and snuggle (with people and other pups). I am looking forward to more rigorous training with her, once Mabel's physiology allows it. Our two bully girls keep us laughing, active and a little crazed on a daily basis, and are quite used to dog visitors coming and going. Our girls are highly social, very excited to meet new friends and play, but do not guard resources, and are quite used to sharing our affections too.

Both of our girls are about 45-55 lbs, but we have had wonderful hosting experiences, and provided wonderful vacays for many different sizes of pups, from 5 pounds at the smallest, to 120 pounds largest. The better you know your dog, their wonders and warts and all, and the more socialized they have been, the more fun we can have, and we'll customize their stay so they can have the best time possible!

We have had many different pets over the years, including mice, rabbits, gerbils, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and we'd be happy to vacay any caged critters of yours too. We can keep those cages in a different room from where the dogs go, and give them quality attention separately. Please ask for a custom quote if you have a combo situation!

Hope to hear from you, and integrate your pup (or other) into our pack!

At a special rate, I am also available for coaching/training if you want to expand your dog's mental & physical exercise to bike tow running (appropriate for 25lbs and over).
I can also share my 20 years of hands-on therapeutic experience, and coach/train you how to give your dog a simple massage. Our dogs, no matter what the breed or activity level, benefit from massage just like people, so please inquire about how you can learn to provide that therapeutic nurturing for your special pup!

Ansem always has a great time at Amy's. She treats him like part of the family!!
Once again, Amy was a wonderful host. I always feel totally comfortable leaving my dog with her and that is not something I come by often. My dog can be a bit of a nervous nelly and pretty sensitive, but Amy has a way with her that allows her to feel totally comfortable and confident and have a great time over at her house.

We just spent a three week family vacation in Italy. Knowing that Raven was having a great time and receiving the best care enabled me to enjoy my vacation. I missed him, but I was not worried about him at all. I can't put a price on that kind of piece of mind. Amy treats Raven like one of her own. I am grateful. I have used Amy for over a year now and will always continue.

Hazel has so much fun playing with all the other dogs at Amy's. This has been a great for Hazel.
Our dog Haley loves staying with Amy! She's so well taken care of, and we love getting updates seeing how she's doing throughout the trip.
This is Hazel's second stay with Amy. She loves it at Amy's because there are always friends to play with all day long and she is well taken care of.
Cece had a great time! She ran and played with well matched playmates. Amy takes care to ensure her guests will get along well. I came back early and Amy was flexible and accommodating to my new schedule. Thanks for a great stay!
Amy was wonderful with Tucker! She kept me updated with pics and news of Tucker. He was a very happy dog! I will be using Amy in he future! He seemed to enjoy his vacay:)
Hazel had a great time at Amy's. We received lots of pictures of Hazel playing with other dogs. Hazel was treated with such care. Now that she's home, I think she's missing the other dogs!
Amy is wonderful! Takes the best possible care of your dog. I always feel comfortable leaving my girl with her.
Sadie seemed happy to be there. Amy is always trying to give us tips to help with sadie and her "crazy" tendencies...I will definitely use Amy again.
I've already left a review before, but I wanted to leave another one because Amy is so awesome. She has taken care of our smooth collie regularly (either when we're away for a weekend or for day care during the week) and has also come over to take care of our 2 cats. She gives me such peace of mind - she clearly cares about our pets and sends us plenty of updates. She's also very flexible and has always accommodated all our requests - even taking our dog in for the day when we mistakenly thought we had scheduled daycare and showed up to her door (unexpectedly to her) at 7am one morning. We are so lucky to have found Amy!

Amy was wonderful again. She is very in tune with her visiting dogs and keeps them very happy. On the human side, she is great with updates and pictures. We will certainly continue to use her when we can.
Once again, Cleo was in good hands with Amy and her son. Amy ensures a happy environment for our dog and sends photos and updates to let us know how she's faring. I would definitely recommend -- and have recommended -- Amy to other dog owners.
Samson always enjoys his visit with Amy and her dogs. I love the pictures she sends throughout his visit.
I can't say enough amazing things about Amy and her son! I feel so comfortable dropping Raven off at her house for a play date or overnight. He has so much fun and is well cared for. Amy treats him like he is one of her own dogs. She is a wonderful person and dog lover and has a wealth of knowledge and experience with dogs. Amy even takes many great pictures of Raven having a fun time. She definitely goes the extra mile!

We could not have been more please with Amy's services. She took Buddy into her home and helped him to become part of "the pack"! Amy has outstanding communication skills and shared his experience through pictures, emails and texts for the long weekend that Buddy stayed with her. We are so happy to have found this service and feel completely confident in her work. I appreciate how Amy was a thoughtful care giver who helped us to understand our dog in a better way. Highly recommended!!! Thank you to Amy and her son for taking great care of Buddy!!!

Samson has stay with Amy and her pups several times! He always has a great time and I love the pics she sends! Highly recommend!
Amy is excellent with our dog Bleu! Bleu is a homebody who gets nervous being away from home. He has really come out of his shell in Amy's care and has learned to become part of the dog pact. We could not be happier with the progress Bleu has made. Amy is very patient and respectful of each dog's personality in her care and just intuitively knows how to make them feel at home!

Ansem had a great time at Amy's - playing with her pups and meeting new people! We've stayed with Amy before and already have another reservation with her for next month! She sends updates and photos of her guests having a great time!!
Amy was wonderful! She hosted our corgi on our wedding day, and helped to make our day extra special by picking Peanut up at our wedding venue so that we could take pictures with her before her vacay. Peanut had a great time with Amy's resident sweet-dispositioned dogs. Thanks Amy!

Amy was amazing!!! We have never had a better experience for care of both our dog, Murphy, and visits for our 2 cats. Murphy clearly had such a wonderful time from the daily updates (with tons of photos, which was great!), and it was so nice to know that while we were off enjoying ourselves on vacation that Murphy was also having a great time.

We had a very good experience boarding our two dogs with Amy and her family. She was very responsive to all inquiries and took the time to make sure that the setup was good for everyone. One of our dogs is very skittish, and has not responded well to being boarded in the past. They made sure she felt right at home. If there was a negative to our experience, it was that our dogs were bored when they got home!

Amy was consistently enthusiastic and put us at ease with leaving our dog. She sent very frequent pictures and descriptive updates. She is very clearly an excellent canine caretaker and I'll happily leave my dog with her in the future.
Amy was very receptive to our--my pet and me--desires. She readily responded to my questions and comments. Lots of pics were provided. My "little" guy wanted her to come home with us.
Amy was a great dog vacay dog sitter. We really appreciated that she kept us informed of how our dog, Cleo was doing and sent photos. She has a fenced in yard for the dogs to play in, but she also took our dog on walks. She is so knowledgeable about dogs and provided a loving, caring environment for Cleo.

This was our first stay with Amy. We have two boxers, who had a great time! Amy sent us pictures and messages throughout their stay. They returned home around 11AM and have been sleeping since (it's now 2PM). They must have had a blast!
Once again Amy is fantastic! Her dogs are very friendly and high energy, they made great play pals for my dog. He was good and tired when he got back home. Amy was very accommodating and sent daily pictures and updates, I knew my dog was in very safe hands.

Sadie, seemed to be no worse for wear. Amy kept us up on her progress and she came back a very happy puppy. Thanks Amy!
Once again, Amy and her son did a wonderful job taking care of our dog, Raven. Each day Amy sent me great pictures and emails or texts of how he was doing. Raven had so much fun I was afraid he wouldn't want to come home!
Amy is great! My dog can get stressed staying with strangers but he had a ball playing with her dogs. He got lots of exercise and affection. Amy gave me daily pictures and updates about how he was doing, which is nice to be reassured so I can relax and enjoy my vacation knowing my baby is in good hands.

Amy is fantastic! We had an hour meet and greet first to determine if our dogs were compatible. She is excellent at reading dog behaviors and personalities. My dogs had a wonderful stay with Amy, and she provided regular updates and pictures to put my mind at ease. I highly recommend Amy.

My husband and I have been completely thrilled with the care that Amy has given our dog, Duffy. He is geriatric, with some mild health problems, and needs what we would call "special attention."

He loves Amy and her dogs, and is thriving due to the love and care she gives him.

We appreciate it a great deal. It takes a load off our shoulders to know that he is in such good hands.

Our big boy Ansem had a fun time staying at Amy's. Her family took great care of him. We got many updates and photos so we wouldn't miss him too much! He was worn out when he got home from all the fun.
Another awesome visit with Amy! Raven is so happy there. He is very well cared for and has a fantastic time playing. It gives me such a peace of mind knowing this! I can truly enjoy our vacation because he is enjoying his.
Finn had his first day of doggie fun today! I got picuters and updates throughout the day, which was great! He came home and slept ...and that's never happens. Amy said that he had a blast with his new friends and I believe it. Finn gets that mid week ich and this just may be the cure :)

It was so wonderful knowing Raven was in great hands. He was having a great time with Amy, her son, and her dogs while we were having a fun vacay. Amy also sent tons of pics of Raven which was great to see. I will use Amy every time we go away. What a peace of mind knowing Raven has a fantastic place for a vacay while we go away too.

Amy was a wonderful host again a second time. Our dog loves spending the night with her and getting all his energy out in her backyard. Highly recommend Amy!
Awesome stay for Nadia, my boxer! Amy is so experienced and good with her, and Nadia gets lots of love and exercise and is very happy there. I am very grateful that Nadia can stay with Amy when I have to be out of town, rather than being in a kennel.
Amy is wonderful! She was so attentive to my dog and regularly sent text updates including pictures! She has a large yard for the dogs to run around and play. I would highly recommend her!!!
Amy and her family cared for Cece like she was another member of their family. I had never left my pup and Amy eased my mind from the start and sent me messages and photos to ensure I knew my girl was well. Cece played constantly and went on multiple walks during the day. I knew she was happy to see me when I picked her up but I could also tell she was very comfortable in Amy's home. We will be happy to stay again in the future!

Amy has been absolutely fantastic! She loves our dog and treats him like part of her family. He loves going to see her and knowing he is in a safe, comfortable place makes us feel so much better about having to leave him.
Amy is wonderful. This was Raven's first time away without being watched by family. Amy took excellent care of Raven, she texted me a couple of times to let me know how he was doing and she even posted some pics of him playing with her dogs. I will definitely use her again. You can tell that she not only has the dog's best interest in mind, but also the owner's.
