About Christopher

I am a certified professional dog trainer. I have over 30 years experience working with various breeds of dogs. Those breeds have been primarily wolves, large northern breeds, pit bulls, German shepherds and many other working and herding breeds. I also have extensive experience working with many behavior issues especially fear, aggression, shy sharpness, anxiety, etc. I offer many valuable services for you and your dog(s).

HERE ARE SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF A STAY AT ,”CHARLIE BROWNS HOUSE”

WE ONLY WATCH A MAXIMUM OF TWO DOGS AT A TIME

Dogs need one on one attention. This isn't possible if there are 20 dogs in the back yard

SAFETY AND SECURITY

The dogs are never unsupervised ever. This is a strict, company policy. I never leave if i have dogs here. The dogs are always with me.

ALL DOGS NO MATTER HOW LONG THE STAY LEARN SOMETHING FROM US

With years of training and Charlie Browns and Lunas help I usually can find at least one thing during a stay that a dogs needs some help with ie; rushing out doorways, jumping on people, food aggression, pulling on a leash, etc. I can usually send dogs home with a good foundation for owners to then take over their training. Also, if needed a maintenance plan for continued training by me and Charlie.

Charlie Brown is your typical Chocolate Lab puppy, unless he is working. Charlie has a unique job. He is my training assistant ( He really does most of the work. Don't tell him though or I will have to give him a treat raise !!)

CHARLIE TEACHES DOGS THINGS THAT PEOPLE HAVE BEEN UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO DO IN THE PAST

Some dogs go to puppy classes and do great. Others don't for many reasons. Some are too big, small, hyper, aggressive or any number of other reasons. These dogs miss out on many important lessons by not being able to attend. Then what happens is if owners can find a ,”trainer” that will take the time to work with their dog on obedience they still miss out most of the time on valuable socialization lessons from the puppy class. So, then people get a dog that will walk on the loose leash just fine. However, when you go to your friends house for a dog play date your dog suddenly runs and hides, plays too rough or has a number of other reactions. These kinds of behaviors are often times because of not learning proper behavior early in life (such as with puppy classes). Charlie Brown has a nature about him that coupled with my training helps dogs learn. He has taught tiny terrier breeds that had never learned how to play. In fact one particular would jump up in his moms lap, totally confused and wondering what this crazy dog was doing. This dog now plays fetch and plays with Charlie anytime we visit. I didn't even teach him any part of fetch. It was all Charlie Brown.

CHARLIE BROWN HELPS TEACH DOGS TO NOT FEAR OTHER DOGS

Charlie has such a gentle, patient way about him he helps fearful dogs build confidence enough to go out into the scary world with all the scary other dogs.

CHARLIE BROWN HELPS WITH MANY OTHER BEHAVIORS AND TRAINING

Dogs learn behaviors from other dogs(good or bad). This is called latent learning. Basically they learn from example. One such dog was a female Pit Bull friend of his. She was house trained fairly well. Her problem was she didn't have an effective way to communicate when she needed to go to the bathroom to her owners. Well, not in a way that they noticed anyway. I use jingle bells on doors for dogs to let me know when they need to go out. Charlie Brown taught her how to use the bells and to this day I don't think there has been anymore accidents.

CHARLIE BROWN MAKES AN EXCELLENT DISTRACTION WHEN WORKING ON DISTRACTION TRAINING.

Dogs can get distracted very easily. Even well trained dogs if they haven't been trained around distractions can become distracted in training with sometimes horrible results. When I train another dog Charlie is always there. Either being an example to help the dogs learn or running around as a distraction. When I release Charlie to go play he stays in the area I am working in without getting in the middle of the training. This assists in teaching the dog that no matter what distractions are around the dog that they are supposed to focus on the trainer.

BEST THING ABOUT CHARLIE IS HE ABSOLUTELY LOVES TO PLAY

It doesn't matter the size of dog, Charlie loves to play with them. He adjusts his play to the other dog. If it is a tiny dog he is nice and gentle. When it comes to large dogs he is ready to rough house all day long.

It's taken me a while to get back to this, but once again Chris did a great job with my dogs.
Henry was well taken care of and learned a lot!
Chris is awesome! We are extremely pleased with his train/board program. If anyone out there has a dog with a behavioral issue, Chris is the man to fix it. He is kind, patient, compassionate and really understands his canine clients from a behavioral standpoint. We look forward to working with him more and highly recommend him to anyone for training and/or boarding. Your dog will be treated with love and respect, and learn a thing or two in the process!
