About John

40 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Welcome to our dog friendly home that we share with our lovable three rescued puppies. Our home features two large fenced in outdoor yards giving your dog 3/4 of an acre to roam the dog safe property.
Our home features all stone or hardwood flooring giving your pet a cool clean place to lay down. Our home is as dog proofed as it can be with long halls for chasing balls and romping inside.

We will make sure your loyal pet gets plenty of love, exercise and attention.
We will make arrangements to provide oral or injectable medications to your pooch.
Our dogs are as friendly as we are. Please contact us to discuss the services we can provide to ease your mind while you are away. We will text or email pictures to you daily.

We currently offer doggy daycare (in addition to overnight boarding)! We would be happy to keep your pup entertained while you’re away for the day.

This was my first dogVacay experience, and it was GREAT!
My husband and I were going out of town for a week, which is definitely long for Blue, our Australian cattle-dog of 2 years. We have left him at puppy hotels and dog resorts, but every time we'd pick him back up, he'd have a spell of 3-5 days re-adjusting to us (he'd rip up stuff, or avoid his leash unless he really had to go, or he'd sometimes submissive pee). Well, all of that was going through my mind the day before we were to leave. I had already made reservations with Petsmart, but I decided to contact John. He was so kind to have me and Blue meet the dogs the night before his estimated stay. I will say, Blue is a rescue dog, so he is a baby disguised as a hyena. Upon meeting the dogs, Blue was nervous until he went outside. The open air gave all the dogs a chance to have their space, and I could tell Blue was going to be fine. He ended up jumping right into John's pool despite the cooler weather.
The day came when we had to turn him over to John and his family, and Blue was great about it.
Everyday when we were gone, John sent photos/video of Blue playing, resting, and having a good time. I was so happy to have chosen them and DogVacay!
They sent Blue home with homemade treats, that he loved. Once he was back home, Blue has been great! We picked up right where we left off, and I can tell Blue had the best experience while his parents were gone all week! I'll definitely use John's Puppy Paradise again!

This was technically my 3rd Dog Vaycay with John as well as my longest. John has earned my trust over and over again.

I was able to bring my dog over to meet him and his three dogs. At its most basic the meet and greet let us make sure my dog and his dogs would get along.

My dog is a puppy? He is also over 90 pounds. Many dogs quickly become anxious when a 90 pound ball of fur clumsily stumbles over to them...not John's dogs. Seriously, if you get the chance, chill with Lucy, Scooby and Cinco because they're sweet dogs.

The meet and greet did lead to one concern; there was an unfenced pool in one of the gated yards and my dog is clumsy and was not used to swimming. Not only did John assure me that the dogs were only allowed to run in that particular yard while supervised but it turns out my big ol' lug loves to swim! And John was nice enough to take videos and pictures and send them to me.

A 90 pound puppy is naturally more work than an average dog. I need to work with him in obedience everyday and whoever I left him with needed to keep up with that which is a lot to ask... Homer came back to me boundary trained. I hadn't even touched that yet and he now sits and waits by doors not only for me to go through but for explicit permission. I really took advantage of John's training experience and my dog is better for it. I would go to John again in a heartbeat and I have sent my dog there multiple times. My dog is safe there. My dog is happy there.

John is clearly very experienced when handling dogs. I never felt like my dog left in an unsafe situation and more importantly he genuinely liked my dog as much as I like my dog so I knew he was getting plenty of love! I had a really great experience and hope I get to use him again.

Sally loves going to John's and playing with all of his dogs. She is so comfortable there. When I went to pick her up, she was happy to see me, but I'm not sure she really wanted to leave. She got a toy out of the toy basket and hopped up on John's couch as if she lived there.

Always a pleasure to bring my husky mix to hang with John's pack. He always comes back exhausted.
First and for most! PLEASE DO NOT EVER allow your pup companion stay with these people!!! They sent me text messages and pictures of my dog the entire time ensuring me she was doing great. Little did I know they allowed their terrier Cinco (the white dog) T-off on my puppy the entire time she stayed with them. John never mentioned a thing about this. Even when my girlfriend and I picked Lola up he failed to mention a thing! I am colorblind so I assumed the dark patches I had seen on both sides of her neck was just dirt. We left and I loaded Lola into my car. This all took place after 10pm so it was very dark. It wasn't until we had pulled away from Johns house I noticed the wounds on her neck. I noticed them only because she yelped as I pet her neck. We stopped to take a closer look and there was a patch of skin missing about 4-5 inches long on the left side of her neck. Also a 2 inch patch missing on the right side. We turned right around. I went back and confronted John about the wounds I had just found. He said "oh don't worry about it, that's how dogs play". He then said "you should see my dog" I said, "yeah can I"? He then went and grabbed cinco. I examined his dog and what do you know? Not a scratch on him. People like this should never be allowed to own or watch an animal ever again! STAY AWAY!.

This was the perfect situation for my Husky & Ausie mix. John cares greatly for his own dogs and clearly my boy was brought in as one of the pack. I got updates of their daily activities with pictures of him passed out in a heap; which he doesn't often do. Picked him up and seemed tired, well fed, and generally very relaxed. Awesome experience for both of us!!

John was great again. Sally just loves him and his dogs. She came home tired and happy, and John once again sent her home with some of his homemade doggie biscuits.
John texted me at least once a day with status reports on how Sally was doing and he included several photos and videos of Sally with his dogs. He makes homemade dog biscuits that Sally loves, and I know she felt right at home there. John spoils his guest dogs equally with his own. I will definitely use John again.

As someone who is used to taking my dog every where I go, you can imagine I was a little uneasy about leaving Brody in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar faces - but John made my weekend away extremely comfortable (for both Brody and myself!). John's awesome backyard and homemade treats kept Brody energized and happy to be playing while the daily photos and text updates kept me at ease. Being away from Brody feels so much better knowing he truly is having a little vaca himself! Thanks John!!

Absolutely awesome! Could not have asked for a better place for our two boxers. I know they had a good time because they came home and slept for a whole day! They didn't even get up to go outside! We received frequent photos and updates so we didn't have to worry if the boys were having fun. We will absolutely drive the extra miles to bring our boys back. Thank you!!
