I have owned dogs most of my life and enjoy having them around. My husband and I are both retired and one or the other would be on hand whenever we had a dog in the house. We presently have two very friendly beagles who always enjoy having another dog in the house.
We have a two story house with the main living area on the second floor so there are stairs involved. If stairs are a problem it is possible for a guest dog to stay on the first floor where they would have company and easy access to the outdoors.
There is a doggy door on the first floor exiting to a fully fenced yard. Any guest dog that is not used to using one would be taken out as needed as well as walked.
I would prefer that borders supply their own food unless they have no problem with the dog food that we have on hand. I would also require strict instructions on feeding and treats. Owners should supply any items that would make the their pet feel at home. (beds, crates, toys, blankets etc.) Dogs would observe the same rules as at their home. There will be an extra charge for dogs under three months of age as they require more attention and care.
I think that dogs would enjoy being with us. They would get lots of attention and love and feel like their are at home. I have frequently kept friends' dogs and found it an enjoyable experience. They always seem happy when they arrive at the house!
We are five minutes from the bridge to South Padre Island and happy to board dogs that belong to owners that are vacationing on the Island.
