I feel that one of the outstanding qualities of the Poplar Tree Dog Motel is its back-to-nature location. Our "motel" is on the very outskirt of town surrounded on three sides by forestland. The name comes from a towering poplar tree overlooking the back yard.
It is also at the end of a dead end street, so it is quite ideal for dogs in regard to safety as there is zero vehicle traffic. The small road in front of our place turns into a walking path at the dead end, and leads to a whole network of trails through the woods for dog-walking adventures. Such hikes are regular features of the dog guest experience (at least twice everyday, sometimes more).
A sizable room added to the side of our place has become dedicated to our dog guests. As a sliding door in the back opens to a fenced in back yard, any dog guest will be free to roam in and out according to weather conditions and as he or she pleases. The sliding door is left open during warmer weather. During cooler weather, access in and out will be through a doggy door. Inside the doggie room, there is a mattress on the floor as well as individual doggie beds (or you can bring the one your dog is used to).
We are also fortunate in being close to some special natural features. Conneaut Creek is an officially state-designated wild and scenic river. At the nearby covered bridge, a beautiful path follows its bank. Also not far away is a beach on Lake Erie that is open to dogs. The occasional excursions to these places are always a special treat for everyone - doggies and humans alike !!
Dogs were always part of our family while I grew up, and the tradition has carried through my adulthood. I have over 40 years of experience interacting with and caring for them. If you are looking for a back to nature experience for your dog companion with lots of attention and exercise, please rest assured that such will be the case at the Poplar Tree Dog Motel.
