About Donna

8 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
My husband Roland and I board small dogs who are 'cat friendly'. We have 1 adult cat but there are no dogs, small children, or teens in our home. We only board 1 dog at a time so your pet will rule the roost and get all our attention while staying with us. We can sometimes make exceptions to the one dog rule when your dog's "Vacay" dates overlap by only one day with another dog we are hosting as long as both dog owners approve their dog having a "roommate" for that short period.

We have a prior history of providing foster care for shelters and rescue groups. We raised miniature poodles years ago and love dogs. We do not have a dog of our own now so being a DogVacay host is the perfect way for us to have dogs in our lives and to provide this badly needed service for owners who prefer not to leave their dogs in a kennel.

We have a clean spacious country home less than 5 minutes from an animal hospital and 5 miles east of Rt. 95. I work at home and will provide loads of TLC for your pet. Dogs will get potty breaks "on leash" 4-5 times a day and a walk before supper. If your dog sleeps with you....she/he can also sleep with us. You can be far away without a worry in the world knowing that your pet is in safe and caring hands. We will keep you updated via text or phone and yes SKYPE or Face Time visits with your dog can be arranged if you like. Warning: we do tend to fall in love with every dog we board... but we promise to let go when you return from your travels.

Iscah had another wonderful visit with Donna and Roland. I'm so fortunate to have folks that I trust completely with my girl. Thank you, Donna and Roland!
Iscah stayed with Donna while I was out of the country. There was not one moment that I was worried or concerned about her. Of course I missed her and thought about her, but I knew that she was in good hands and having a great vacation while I was away.

Iscah loves them - there's no doubt about that. So do I .... :-)
Yet again Iscah has had a wonderful visit with Donna. When we arrived for the drop off, she ran up to the glass door and scratched and scratched at it, excited to be seeing her beloved Donna and Roland again. Finding people that I trust with my girl is paramount - and I have found that in Donna and Roland. I care to leave her with nobody else.
I have a 12 year old dachshund who is very sweet, but set in her ways. Leaving her at a kennel over Thanksgiving would have been traumatic for her. I found Donna, Roland and DogVacay online and decided to give them a try. After an initial meet and greet between us all, we decided to leave Gracie in their care. Their house is set up great for a small dog and they go out of their way to make their "guests" feel comfortable. Gracie loved her walks and settled in very nicely. Even though she was happy to see us at the end of her stay, I could tell that she had a good time and they did an excellent job of making her feel at home. I would highly recommend Donna and Roland!
Donna is a wonderful dog-sitter! She has a very safe home for dogs and she takes great care of our dog. She is our first choice whenever we go away, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to other pet-owners.
Are you kidding me? Donna's the best. She is now my ONLY dog sitter. I willingly travel 1.15 hours to leave Iscah with her and Roland. It's called "trust".
Wonderful host family -- warm, kind and helpful. They treat our dog as their own. I recommend Donna highly and we feel so lucky to have found her! Thank you!
Yet another wonderful experience with Donna. Iscah had a great "vacation" and I didn't have one moment of worry. Donna and Roland are delightful, friendly, and caring. They are my "go to" people for Iscah's overnight care.
Iscah's stay with Donna (and Roland!) was absolutely wonderful. I was a long 9 days without Iscah for me, but I knew that she was in great hands and I never worried for a second.

Donna kept me updated with photos and even a video - I was so happy to see them.

When I picked Iscah up I could immediately tell that she'd had a great time and formed a bond. This turned out even better than I'd anticipated.

Thank you so much!
We would only leave our little poodle with someone we entirely trust, and this was the case with Donna. She made our Sasha very comfortable and kept a very consistent communication flowing with pictures / videos in emails and other platforms, and answering all my questions. It was not easy! Our dog is used to flying with us everywhere, and this was the first time she spent several nights away from us (2 weeks!). She was quickly at ease in Donna's house, I could tell by the behavior. I will come back quickly to Donna and I only regret I had not known her earlier. We could have used her help in a few more occasions in the past. Super recommended!!!
Donna is a great host and we highly recommend her.

We had an unexpected death in the family and needed someone to take our little guy, for a couple of days. We had no idea what to do. We would never just leave him with anyone we did not trust and did not want to leave him in a kennel.

We contacted a friend who we know has left her little girl overnight with someone in the past. We knew she would never leave her dog with just anyone, so we knew who ever she left her girl with, we could trust.

We set up a meet 'n greet with Donna and it went great. When we went out of town for the services, we knew Bailey was in great hands and never worried about him for one minute.

We will definitely be leaving Bailey with Donna again in the future. !!!
Donna is a great host. This is our second time leaving our cockapoo in her care and plan on booking a third soon.
My little princess had the best and most loving time at Donna's home and was spoiled there just as she is at home.
We love leaving our pug with Donna and her husband!! We know Hubbell is well loved by both of them and well cared for to be sure! He drives up in the car and cannot wait to see them both. It is a great feeling to be able to leave your best friend in such great hands. Donna also keeps us well informed about Hubbell's health as well as his happiness. We could not be happier with each experience! We have shared love and laughter and that is so important to us!
I was nervous to leave my dog with anyone due to the anxious quirks he has from being a rescue. Donna was very reassuring and understanding of my every concern, delivering him 5 star pampering!Rocco seemed happy and relaxed when I picked him up. I was pleased and surprised to hear that Rocco even slept in the bed! I would definitely recommend Donna and hope to see her again soon.
Our spoodle, Max, always has a wonderful stay with Donna. When we arrive he is calm, contented, happy to see us but perfectly willing to stay on there for a few more days if we want ! .... Ironically the opposite of us, his parents.... frazzled, tired, jet lagged and longing for our own bed.
Zee had a wonderful week with "Auntie" Donna. She told us about all the walks and rides she went on while she was visiting and she even got to see some stray chickens along the way! As usual everything went perfectly. We will continue to check Donna's schedule even before booking our own vacay, she and Roland are the perfect Dogparents! Thank you!
Donna was a great host. We had a nice three day weekend, without worrying about our dog.
We had a very happy experience leaving our little Havanese dog, Bridgie, with Donna and Roland. They gave her tender loving care and made her fall in love with them. Donna made sure that Bridgie got her meds and had her eyes taken care of daily. She and Roland even let Bridgie sleep with them. I can't say enough how grateful I am to Donna and Roland for keeping Bridgie happy, safe, and loved while we were away for 3 weeks. We are thrilled that we found them and we will definitely come back again.
After the destination is picked, the air tickets bought, it's automatic to make a reservation with Donna for our dog, Max. Happy to have found her.
It's so great to know that while we're on.vacation our pup is having a wonderful time with Donna and Roland! I have no hesitation to call upon their expertise whenever we need a safe place for Zee. It's like having doggy godparents! Thanks again for the peace of mind.

Donna was a fantastic host for my dog, Gucci. Having recently rescued Gucci, I was not sure how she would react in a new environment. Donna made this transition easy - she was great with Gucci. Donna clearly has experience with making dogs comfortable. During the Meet and Greet, it was only minutes before Gucci's tail was wagging and she was immediately at ease with Donna in her home. We certainly appreciated the photos that she sent to us, it helped to keep us "connected" to Gucci during our trip. Donna has a beautiful home and yard, perfect for a stay away from home for a cat-friendly dog. Without hesitation, we will definitely request her services again.
Donna and her husband were great hosts for our dog George. He had a three day stay with lots of company and attention. Donna sent us updates and photos, and gave us a full report when we picked him up. We could tell Donna and her husband really enjoyed their time spent with our little guy. Thanks Donna!
Our experience with Donna was nothing but perfection. From our initial meeting, I immediately felt very comfortable leaving my dog in her beautiful home. Donna is very careful to follow any instructions we had as far as feeding and caring for our dog.
I knew from the moment Zee and I had our 'meet and greet' with Donna and family, that we had hit the jackpot. Due to our dog coming from a rescue situation only a year ago, I had very high requirements for sensitivity and compassion for our sweet Zee. Combined with the nature of our request (an emergency due to a death), we found Donna C to be kind, flexible, loving and knowledgeable. Her home is welcoming and immaculate, her cat was a non-issue (from Zee's perspective) and I did not worry one moment about Zee's care during our 6-day absence. During Zee's stay there was a blizzard and frigid temperatures, and yet Donna's patience and understanding prevailed. In summary, if I could manufacture the perfect dog watcher, Donna would be the model! Zee knew it, too, she felt right at home from the first visit, rolling over for tummy pats from Donna's husband, as if he were family. We would not hesitate to call on Dog Vacay and Pooch Country Inn for any future dogsitting, be it a quick overnight or a long vacation! Dog Vacay would be my first call, even before purchasing plane tickets! Thanks again, Donna.
We are happy to have found DogVacay as an alternative to boarding our dog in a kennel. We've had bad experiences with Kennels in the past so we were open to trying something new. We reached out Donna through DogVacay and one evening we met her and her husband at their home to assess whether there would be a good fit our dog Kobe. I knew after 2 minutes that Donna and her husband would provide a loving, compassionate home for Kobe during our time away. We were not disappointed! We really appreciated the frequent updates and pictures of Kobe that were posted and emailed to us. There was also a noticeable difference in Kobe's demeanor when we picked him up after being away for two weeks (totally different from the kennel!). We highly recommend Donna for your dog boarding needs.
I'm grateful I found dogvacay.com and Donna C. Hers is a perfect '2nd home' for a small dog when you travel and must leave him/her behind.

When I visited before our trip, I could see Max would be comfortable there with Donna in her lovely house. Donna is very kind, knowledgeable and intuitive with dogs.

We were able to drop him off a week later certain that he would be well cared for. Our dog was relaxed, happy, healthy and glad to see us when we returned. Thank you !
