I am a Ph.D. student at UNL studying natural resource sciences. I am an urban and avian ecologist who enjoys playing volleyball and racquetball, and jogging/walking/hiking with my dogs.
At home I especially enjoy gardening edibles, caring for my chickens, brewing kombucha and beer, and any general and attainable homesteading activity.
I currently rent a 2bed/1ba home with attached garage and a large, fenced yard (in which my dogs and chickens roam when weather permits). My home has a huge window in the living room looking to the front yard and street -- visiting dogs love looking outside at the birds and squirrels during the day! My chickens have separate fenced-in area and coop -- i.e., they are separated from dogs.
The smaller dog (Schultzie) is active and enjoys playing with other dogs at home or at the dog park.
The larger and senior dog (Murray) enjoys being active, but has a hard time these days getting far. He's relaxed, loves people, and food..
YOUR DOG(S) IN MY HOME
My dogs aren't restricted to any specific area of the house, and on nice days (60-75degreesF) they enjoy hanging out in the backyard while I am at work. Otherwise, they are inside in the AC/heat while I am at work. Dogs sleep wherever they prefer, visiting dogs are welcome to the bed/couch, with no restrictions.
I have experience in animal emergencies, in caring for senior and 'special' dogs, in administering meds orally (can pill with or without treat/pill pocket). I am HUMAN cpr/first-aid certified (current Fall 2015).
